Willie and I have been playing this FITE2 game for about a month now and it's now T25 and Willie has been playing really well that whole time. His advance has been unstoppable. Somehow I managed to turn the Leningrad defenses into a fortress so I'm optimistic that the city will hold out for some time yet.

But it's a different story elsewhere. As you can see the Axis forces are getting closer and closer to Moscow all the time. It's only mid-September and the weather is still pretty much advantageous for him. So far I've lost 79.5K Rifle squads and there's only 80.4 of them assigned and only 1.3K of them on hand. I've lost about 9K of my tanks of various types and only 143 KV-2's on hand. I've lost about 3.2K fighter aircraft of various types and about 3.21K bombers of various types including 1.09K of my Il-4's, the best long range bomber that I own. I've lost 19 of my ships of various types leaving only about 25 assigned.

The AS values are 48 for the Axis and 7 for the Soviets. So far this turn I've lost 125 aircraft and I estimate that the Axis has lost less than 50. As you can see Willie has penetrated into the Crimea and will be in Rostov in a few turns. So far I've been able to evacuate only the factories in Kiev. Willie has captured several of my factories already and lots more are in harm's way.

I've been using my rail cap. to move troops to the various front lines to try to stem the flow and that leaves insufficient rail cap. to move the factories. It's Willie's MO to surround his targets before he destroys them which disallows my losses from returning to the pool. I've been using my arty to back up the troops which helps a tiny bit but so far my aircraft can't put up much of a fight because their proficiency is still way too low. I've seen proficiencies as low as 15%.

The forecast for the land combat is for more of the same. I've been unable to halt his progress everywhere on the map. And I'm running out of fresh troops. I get a boat-load of reinforcements each turn but they are all cherry red when they spawn making them noncombat ready. And less than a dozen divisions have rested enough to rail to the front each turn. Those fresh divisions arriving at the front are thrown into harm's way immediately because of the tempo of the fighting.

This is the more exciting part of the game and I'm having a lot of fun. I'm grateful to Willie for this game, he suggested it, and I accepted after having thought about it for about a nanosecond. My R&D department is working on secret super weapons but so far have produced nothing usable. I have 194 aircraft left, of which about 2/3's are resting. The rest of them are on the front lines for all the good they might do. This is turning into one of the best games I've ever played. Also, as background, I've never won a FITE2 game playing either side.

It's T28 already and I thought I'd take some time off the game to bring you guys up to date on what's going on. Willie's forces are slowly pushing my guys backward in the Leningrad area even though I've stacked as many guys in each stack until it turns yellow with one more unit in it. I like to have my stacks leafy green. I've thrown together a screen of sorts to the west of Leningrad but it won't hold anybody back for very long.

Moving south we find an area where the Axis forces are breaking through my defenders and I need to move a lot of the surviving people to the NE to form a new MLR using the natural defensive features that are found there. I'm talking about the area depicted in Yellow. The green arrow is the path I'm taking to get my people out of the killing fields.

In the area SW of Moscow are found the chiefs, cooks, and bottle washers that I could roust out of the chowhall, CQ offices, and the rear area guard gates. Something tells me that Willie is going to force a hole in my lines and pour fresh troops through and dash to Moscow before I know my mass from a black hole.

I have tons of troops ready to rail to the front but I seem to run out of rail cap. before I can get them all embarked and moved. So about 20+ divisions or division equivalents are having to hoof it by foot and they aren't getting much training or good experiences from just marching, taking a 5 minute break and then marching some more. All day and part of the night.

I seem to have run out of troops to the east of Kiev. I'm holding all the river crossings but that won't stymie Willie's troops even a little bit.

In the area between D-town and Z-town I have seemingly run out of troops again. There are Axis troops in the area west of my lines that aren't showing on this image because they are not "spotted" by my forces yet. I've seen them move into that area in previous playback's so I know they are there.

About 5 turns ago Axis forces forced their way from the Crimea into the peninsula and from there brushed my defenders aside and now they are laying siege to Sevastopol and my defenders are already wiped out from previous fighting and it's only from backup by my ships and CD guns that are holding them back so far. I'm wondering how long it would take Willie to repair the rail all the way down to within range of my defenders. Probably at least a month game time. Maybe more. Even with all his RR engineers working on it. With my luck he's going to find some more forces yet to ship down there and take care of the problem. Maybe not.

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the development team has produced a new version and it needs to be tested before being released into the wild. I'm the one to test that bad boy so this AAR will come to an abrupt end. I'm posting about my test on the development board with the hope that they will eventually move it to the public board.
