When used correctly the Gearings and Tribals have been great

ie when supported by a Cruiser or BB/BC they are devastating

The Tribals are very good gunships not so good torpedo boats so I would maybe mix it up and take a few Battle class instead to give that torp punch

Gearings are good if properly supported but they cannot handle the big Japanese CA's supported by a BB on their own

Because he has went so deep so fast I have had to commit them not as I had planned

My Plan was to have 3 strong SCTF's

POW plus RN Cruisers and a mix of Tribals and Gearings
Houston with the same
Repulse and Boise with the same

But he has moved so fast I havent had time to organise my TF's properly

Only POW has the proper set up at moment and for some reason they didnt make it to Singkawang last turn

last turn was overall very good for me.

I started this game with 24 modern DD's 11 Tribals and 13 Gearings - 2 of the Tribals are Australian and have not seen action yet all the rest have and the results have been mixed so far

in 4 days I have lost

4 Gearing Class - Sunk
5 Gearing Class - Crippled
4 Gearing Calss still operational

3 Tribals sunk (1 at Singapore on day 1)
6 Damaged or crippled
2 Operational (both Australian)

basically I have lost 30% of my modern DD's in 4 days of war and another 50% are in yard hands (they dont take long to repair fortunately)

I wish I had bought more they have made his life hell so far but at a cost

5 days in an no sign of mini KB and I estimate its 250 strike aircraft

It could dominate norther Borneo the fact that it has not appeared anywhere in DEI tells me its en route to PH or perhaps west coast

I can see a CL led TF to the north of Midway about 400 miles away no carrier aircraft but it could be mini KB

Main KB is still for some weird reason south of Pearl but they could have refueled last turn given how little they moved

So for once discretion is called for - i would love to pursue on sink the rest of the AK convoy BUT if that is mini KB to my north and KB could do a speed run north - I dont have fuel for another full speed run and I am low on fighters on my 2 carriers so I think its time to pull back to West Coast replenish and link up with Saratoga......

So next few turns I have decided its time to go home - Big E and Lady Lex could maybe take on mini KB alone but its not a fight I would want without Saratoga and neither Big E or Lady Lex are operating with full decks any more so I have decided to head West towards West Coast rearm and replenish and then come back in a few days for round 2.

If mini KB is en route to PH then call it 400 KB aircraft plus 250 from mini KB is too much for 270 on 3 US CV's to even attempt and engagement I need to keep a fleet in being now however much I want to be aggressive Hornet isnt that far away and that will increase my effective strength - I may also transfer Indomitable and Hermes to support USN that would add another 120 to the US CV fleet sop 480 total which I would be willing to take on mini KB or KB but not both together

I hate slow games especially when I don’t get turns at the weekend when I have a load of time

I need to remember to check how fast turns will be in future and maybe avoid playing streamers (I think he streams on YouTube or another platform

Interesting Andy, the first thing xargun and I agreed upon was the turn rate. 2-3 for the first 18 months or so, 1-2 for the year after and then most likely 1 per day starting in 1945. The allies have a lot of things to take care of in 1945 and 1946.

Man those are very heavy PH losses!!!

Historically (realize you are playing a-historical) due to their positions in port BB Maryland, BB Tennessee, BB Arizona, CA New Orleans, CA San Francisco, CL St. Louis, DD Shaw, DD Cummings could not have been torpedoed. Although, I'll concede it would have been a extraordinarily slim chance for the Arizona to be torpedoed as she wasn't totally masked by the Vestal and moorings. It's a game....understand.

Andy Mac, I saw a mention of an AAR you posted in which the commenter heaped praise on your operations being shaped by logistical considerations. Where might I locate that AAR?

Thanks in advance.

It was avery old one my 1st actually v PZB - I did a LOT of things wrong in that game but my re invasion of Burma was the only thing I did right and it was all logistics
