This is my next operation. I have a number of TFs, mostly with Engineers right
now, with Infantry and others in the pipeline, headed to Darwin. He never took
Darwin so I will now occupy it.

In the picture shown, the only bases I could find with any troops are Koepang and Ambon
and neither has more than a few hundred. I will build Darwin and at the same time
take the three bases on Timor. All three can have size 9 airfields. I have no idea
why he has not put more forces here, but I will take it.

I am taking a chance. I have no idea where his CVs are now. I am covering
this move with my CVEs since my biggest concern is long range attacks from
Netties. My CVs are out in the Pacific right now covering the Ocean Island
and Nauru Island landings. I have air cover at Darwin and Naval search.
I hope I can run fast enough and far enough if his CVs show up. None of
my Transport TFs have been spotted, so I am hopeful. This will open up
a huge amount of territory I can take and threaten some of his oil and
resource production.

I apologize if the picture is a bit large for some of you.

Thunderstorms and a few Tojos kept the damage at Magwe down
I only damaged 26 oil that turn, but my B-25Cs did shoot down
one of the Tojos.

My TFs moving to Darwin are now two turns away and showing no
detection.

Severe Storms over Magwe again limit the B-25Cs effectiveness

I have 136 B-25Cs tasked to bomb, only 106 found the target
and they only damaged 11 oil. Moonlight was 100%.

Naval Bombardment of Kavieng yielded one disabled non combat squad
I guess I really do not need to do any more.

My TFs moving to Darwin are 4 hexes out and no detection shown yet

Again some Tojos and severe storms over Magwe limited the success of my B-25Cs.
Moonlight is starting to wan, down to 96% now and it will go down fast after this
I will be changing targets for a few turn and see if things improve.

I landed 1/3 of the 7th Australian Infantry Division at Lae.
LST-457 was lost, caused by foundering in the surf.

There is a little more at Lae than I thought. I will give my troops some rest
land a Tank Bn and an ART Bn. They have plenty of supply. I'll let they recover
some devices. And do some Naval Bombardments

And again, bad weather over the target and no hits reported. I hate bad weather.
Only 76 of 136 Bombers found the target hex.

And again bad weather and no hits.

There has been a sub lurking South of Ceylon, today I finally got an attack on it
It showed up on the sunk ship list, but I doubt I sank it. One hit was reported
as a direct hit, the rest were damage hits

ASW attack near Koggala at 29,52

Japanese Ships
SS I-32, hits 8

Allied Ships

SS I-32 is sighted by escort
========================================
Darwin is building nicely
Port from 3(40) to 3(61)
Airfield from 3(81) to 4(19)
this turn.

I have a lot of engineers and engineering vehicles there
140,000+ supply and just 10,000 fuel but I have 80,000 fuel in tankers unloading now.
==================================
I got a recon of Soerabaja today. There is not a lot there.
Recon shows 4 units with about 24,000 troops, 162 guns, and 79 AFVs. Only 36 fighters there
no bombers or Aux aircraft.

recon of Makassar shows absolutely nothing there.

Kendari recon weathered out, I will try again tomorrow.

=================================
I have been reconning Truk for a number of turns. It looks to be quite the bastion.
Recon shows 55,000+ troops, 414 guns, 144 AFVs. I do also believe it starts with an impressive
CD or Base Force Unit with some big guns. I am sure that it will a tough nut. I may not try
to take it this game, I will have to wait and see what happens. There is also a lot of aircraft
stationed there it looks like, 134 fighters, 116 bombers, and 124 Aux.

Landed a Tank Bn and an ART Bn at Lae to reinforce attack.
I seem to lose an LST every time I land troops at an occupied base.

LST-459 breaks her back while beaching at Lae

LST-459 sank during the turn.

A pair of intriguing bits of sig int.

1. 2/39th Division is loaded on xAP Teiritsu Maru moving to Rangoon.

2. 6/39th Division is planning for an attack on Colombo.

Is an attack on Ceylon in the making? I have seen a number of reports of aircraft
over Trincomalee and some over Colombo.
I am prepared for this if it happens.
More on this later.

One thing I will recommend, if you are going to use CVEs for Amphibious landing cover
you really should set you fighters to CAP, not rest.
It didn't cost anything, but it could have been at least a mini disaster.

The Americal Infantry Division landed on Kavieng, they
should be all that is needed.

=======================
I am wondering if a city attack on a dot base, no port or airfield is actually
possible. My B-25s again whiffed on LI at one of AndyMacs added bases in Burma.
This base is in then next hex NE of Magwe. It has 16 LI but I do not seem to be able to
hit any of them. I think I will move on. I am bombing at night, so that might have
an effect.

===========================================
Something that is puzzling me is that an LCI and some LSTs did not
unload. I have seen ships not unload all of their supply, but to not
unload any thing is surprising.

Started landing at Salamaua. Using xAP so it will take a couple of days to fully unload.
Naval Bombardments will continue.

Amphibious TF dispatched to Manus with fully prepped 40th Infantry division and the XIV HQ.

Night bombers attacked Magwe oil, daylight sweep and bombers scrubbed by weather.

The next question is "What is this and what does it mean?"
Is this the vanguard of an invasion?

Note the three bases contained in the green rectangle.
I have been building them for a year at least.
Two of them, Tanjore and Maduri are both at level 9 airfields.
The other( the northern one ),Trichinopoly, is at level 6
I have base forces and air HQs stationed there. I also have
a number of Torpedo bombers with fighters. I will move some
of my Heavy and Medium bombers if he starts to land.
I have been through this before, at least 2 times I have had Japanese
opponents take Ceylon in 1943. I do not have much in Ceylon, most units
have been moved out long ago. The AA is more useful in the Bengal region
and the infantry regiments were moved to Delhi and disbanded to help fill
out my Indian Infantry Divisions. If he lands he will not get many points
for destroyed devices, but I will bomb all the bases into dust, and then
attack his land forces.

Further, I got 4 sigint messages of "Japanese Aircraft spotted over Koggala"

Another screen shot of the area. I have some Cats in Trincomalee keeping an eye out.
There are a number of medium and heavy bombers just moved to Madurai. I have Torpedo bombers
in the area also, but I need to try and limit the number of fighters he has available.
I have 3 P-38 squadrons at Tanjore, and 2 at Madurai

I see another TF or TFs far to the South, they might be follow on TFs or additional attack
units. I can not tell yet.

One of those things I always seem to forget, you can not sweep a base you own. I think it is wrong, but it is how things are.

That meant my Beaufort-VIII went in without any fighter support. 12 of them were lost. sigh.
But an interesting thing is that only 62 fighter were on CAP over Koggala. That would seem to mean
I can sweep a number of them after he takes the base.

I only see the one Amphibious TF at Koggala, so I am sending in the Dutch minelaying subs this turn.
Maybe I can get lucky and take something out

I did bomb Dambulla, I will try and close it down completely this next turn.

What might be interesting is that I have snuck a 3 x CA 4 x DD
SCTF into Trivandrum, 8 hexes from Koggala. They are sent for
a full speed run for a night combat. I only see one TF in the Koggala
hex and the attack on my sub shows it is an amphibious TF.

It seems to be what he does. He takes bases and then when I get close he takes out all or most of the unit.

Of course the intel guys listed it as sunk, but I highly doubt it.
I am hoping that it at least has to go to port for repairs.

He spent a lot of effort bombing my troops in the jungles of Burma.
He disabled some squads of Chinese Corps that are tasked with just sitting
there and watching that he does not advance. I see 162 Helens, 25 Salleys,
21 Anns, and 108 A6M3a Zeros flew missions in Burma.

I lost 5 P-38Fs to air-2-air and 1 ops
I also lost 1 P-38G to ops and one B-25D1 to flak

So a good days work in the air
I am not sure why to P-38Fs did worse that the P-38Gs. The stats and pilots are basically the same.
The only difference is the Fs went in first against 39 fresh defenders and the went in against
only 24 defenders that has just fought a battle.

It is time to take a bit of a chance. I have sent the Heavies and B-25Cs on
airfield attack.
The B-25D1 Attack bombers are on Naval Attack at 1000 feet range 8, just enough
range to get to any TFs at Koggala. I do have the P-38Gs sweeping and recon shows
only 2 aircraft at Koggala. I also have a unit of Beaufort Is with Torpedos in
range. We will see what happens. I would love to put a torpedeo into a BB and
some 500 pounders into a CA and or DD or two.

There were also fighters sweeping. He damaged the port and airfield, so slowed down building.
He lost 12 Helens bombers, 11 to flak and one to ops.
==================================================================

I sent a lot of bombers to Koggala, the airfield is at 99 damage and the port shows 15 damage,
I will continue tomorrow, hopefully destroying some supply at the same time.

The I got some hits on his TF there, not as many B-25D1s attacked as I thought there should have been,
but the ones that did attack did good work. The Beaufort Is got one torp hit.

Some of the hits on the BBs hit and some destroyed devices on the ships
Both BBs showed fires during the attack animations. I heard one ship
sinking sounds near the end of the turn. Probably one of the xAPs sank.

I lost two B-25D1s, one to flak and one to ops.
===================================
I started bombing and bombarding Mili. It will take a lot of time to wear
down the defenders there.

-----------
Something I did find surprising, I have Naval Search extending at least 8 hexes South of
Ceylon and I did not spot his CVs.

Either I killed all his troops( not many of them ) at Dambulla or he flew them out.
The base reverted back to my control.

I have another surprise for him this turn. I was able to finally move 100+ torpedo
bombers into Colombo this turn. Ceylon Command HQ is a command HQ, so it supplies
torpedos.

An anti-climatic turn for sure
It seems he moved his TFs out of Koggala.

Bombed the port and airbase at Koggala, I will bomb the troops
for a few turns watching to see if the port and/or airbase repair

It looks like the only LCU on Mili is the Mili Naval Fortress, that might
not be as hard a target as I first thought.

I got a message I have never seen before:

Engine failure aboard xAK Waiotapu at 119 , 138
She has 4 major engine damage.

I am getting a bit worried. I have not gotten a turn back since the one Saturday morning. I have left a message on Discord to him. I do hope everything is OK.
