I got my cable modem installed Monday so I finally could update my rather out of date files. I have already removed as much of 4.3b as I can, the uninstall was from v2.x and aborted when it didn't find those files. I then just brute force deleted the SPWAW folder and I know I have to go back and edit the registry when I have a day or ten available. When that happened I was glad I had backed the directory off to the cdrw, so I could in a pinch just copy the files back to the harddrive. I did a trial install to test the install files for download errors, none detected, with 5.01 install, 5.2 upgrade, 6.1 upgrade, and stereo sounds upgrade (just for kicks). Am I better off doing the reboot between each exe, or will it work just as well with one reboot at the end? Could I just reinstall v1.0, update to 2.x and then uninstall that or will I just get the duplicates of what is there now removed. Don't suggest regclean or a similar program, I have a win95 machine that now is back to running dos after regclean mangled files. thanks, John.

My registery was recently FUBAR. Win95B I reformatted the hard drive. Reinstalled everything. Then installed the mega campaign version of SPWAW 5.01. From there I upgraded to 6.01.Did the stereo upgrade for sounds. Also loaded in Wild Bill's updates for scenerios and mega campaign. everything works fine. No running issues whatsoever.

John G. It sounds like you have all you need. 1. Install the 5.01 version. No need to fool with the older ones. Reboot 2. Install the 5.01 to 5.2 patch, Reboot 3. Install the 5.2 to 6.1 patch, Reboot. Should work fine. Any duplicated files should be overwritten with the newer ones. Note: Remember when installing the patches, that it should be installed to the "C:\Matrix Games" folder not the "C:\Matrix Games\Steel Panter World at War" folder. I'm using C as the default, you can substitute which ever drive letter that you need to.
