Has everybody forgotten the allies of Germany? Who was the most important helper of the Germans? Did Italy´s help made any difference? I have heard a joke: What is the most shortest book in the world... "Great victories of The Italian Army In Second World War". Did Germany use resources for nothing? Any thought`s of this? P.S Sorry for the bad english

I have not forgotten, am a huge fan of the Axis Minors!! Rumania supplied the most men, equipment, while Slovakia was the first Ally. The last to go was Hungary. Italy made some hard times for Germany, with the invasion of albania, they needed help!! Finns kicked ass, Bulgaria didn't do too much, but did assist in Balkans to a small degree, then turned around in 1944, and fought against their former allies, the Germans!!

My favorite minor is the Finns. Its hard to classify them as helping the Germans though. More like trying to kick out the Russians. What about the allied side? The Aussies and Kiwis gave the Germans nightmares in Africa.

I've heard that joke too, Salama! But remember Finns also had to get rid of the Germans after signing peace with Russia, at last by hard fighting. Besides that important is, that Finland never was invaded like other "axis" countries in Europe. While writing, thanks to people at Matrix that has given us this superb game :D

Watch the Raiders website at www.militarygameronline.com/raiders There will be two or three "what-if" type battles this month that feature Italian paras and special forces as they invade Malta.

I think the Finns were the only Country to outsmart Hitler. They kept Germany from occupying Finland by "helping" Germany against Russia. What they really did was use Germany to help kick the Russians out of the lands they were forced to surrender during the Winter War.

Finns and Germans had made a deal that they would not fight against each other. Germans were supposed to leave Finland and everything would have gone well without fighting. But Russians guessed this and made clear that if Finns didn´t fight agaist Germans, the Soviet Union would do it in Lappland (North Finland). In fact, the War of Lapland begun only 10 minutes before the deadline set by the Russians.

Speaking of which, weren't there even some occasional shots fired between finns and Swedish border patrols when the Germans retreated back west? *thinking* @11Bravo: Yeah, I've read stories of Germans (and *hrm* even more so Italians) wetting their pants at the mere sight of Kiwis. :D Tough chaps. Scenarios available? @Salama: No doubt Italy's help made a difference, and the Italians were reckoned by Germans as good soldiers, officers generally a self-occupied bunch of aristocrats. With exceptions, ofcourse. Condsidering Italy's capacity- military, industrially, economically, the whole war effort must have been a disappointment for Germany. Maybe blinded by their accomplishments in the thirties (e.g. aircraft design), it feels like Italy never really realized what, and how much, effort that was needed. Just my thought. They did a lot of work, but considering how big and developed country it is, it feels halfe-hearted. (Ofcourse, Germany's view of Italy as a "little brother" and not a full equal didn't help either)

"Little brothers", mmm ? I remember reading that about an hypothetic invasion of Malta, Hitler was sure that landed Italian troops would reembark as soon as Royal Navy squadrons from Alexandria and Gibraltar would appear, thus leaving the Fallschirmjägers alone! It was ironically said, maybe somebody has the right quote...

I dont have that quote, but one thing i'm sure of: it has been a big error to come back on the decision to take Malta; and I say TAKE not invade, cause it would have been taken for sure, considering the units assigned for that mission: German paras(Ramcke brigade,I think) and "Folgore" parachute division. Hitler should have relied more on italians this time: "Folgore" parachute division it was the top of the top of italian Army, well trained equipped and motivated: pure rocks! Read Rommel's AAR's of El Alamein or ask abt Folgore to the Free French brigade or to the mighty "Desert Rats" english armoured division to know which results they achieved in that battle against Italian paras: NOTHING,no ground. N.B. "Folgore",being a paratrooper unit had no armour attached, but only few and almost useless 47/32 AT guns.... Self made gasoline bombs worked out pretty well, tough :D
