Well, I don't want this construed as negative *at all*, rather I am looking to make improvements. But I am thinking that it would be really neat if we could get some people together who can do readings of battle orders or whatever for the campaigns that are floating around and maybe future ones as well. Reason I say this is because there are some campaigns that have sound... and maybe shouldn't. Uhh... like I said, I am going for improvement and not critiquing. But it really lends a cool flavor to stuff to have pseudo-German or Russian accents at times. Remember PanzerGeneral and the first battle? "Operation Fall Veiss, zee conqvest of Po-land..." That ROCKED! (would be really cool if we could rip some of that PG music for use, too!) Now, I can do the pseudo-stuff (having taken German, French, and Russian, and able to do some Greek), BUT... I really don't know what programs are necessary to get good sound. I have a decent comp mike. It would be great if we could build a group who can do this stuff. We have all kinds of little specialist communities within the SPWaW group, so why not this? Especially would it be cool to get actual Russians, Ukranians, French, Brits, Germans, whatever - who can do this into English and viceversa as the need may be. Anyone can help here?

I´ve worked with a program called Soundforge (newest version is 5.0 I think) and it´s a great program for editing and altering sounds, special effects etc. A Photoshop for sound if you like. This is a really good program and like I said, I´ve worked with it a lot so if you need a little help, I´m there. I got my mail avaliable in my profile (I think) if you want get personal Nice initiative!

Thanks alot. I am checking into that program and also the SMK program converter. Sounds exciting. I'll contact you if I have further questions. BTW, anyone interested in being part of this? Especially non-American's?

Hello, I just recently discovered this game, and I'm still learning the ropes. But already I know more audio effects and [especially] vocal orders could dramatically increase the immersion level. I've worked on a variety of sound packages for other games, and I'm interested in helping with this also. Can't say I'm much with voice acting or dialects, but I have a pretty full suite of audio editing utilities and programs. Anyway, I don't know yet how to help, but I'm interested and willing! - James

Oh, I meant that I can help out as well. I´m Swedish, so I don´t know if my voise skills would be of much use, but I can definetly help out with the editing and what-not of the various sounds that other talents record.
But I wanna be a voice to oh heck, I guess I have to saddle with the fact that Sweden was not that involved in WW2.

well, how related or similar are the Swedish, Norwegian, and Finnish languages? and your offer to help in editing is quite valuable.

Well Swedish is Finlands second language..but that basically means that only about 10% of us speaks it well. On the other hand allmost every Finn can claim to have spoken Norwegian..especially after a succesful night at a bar. But seriosly Finnish is very different compared to Swedish and Norwegian. Swedish and Norwegian on the other hand are basically same at writing but spoken quite differently. Mannerheim

But finnish and swedish couldn´t be further apart as a language thou. And danish and norwegian are also similar in writing but not so in spoken word. Actually, no one understands a dane... ever
To sum it up: All swedes, danish and norwegians can read each others language pretty well, but you´ll never fool anyone when it gets to talkin´. Finnish is of a totaly different branch of language, but many finns speak or understand swedish (much because of Swedens history of not minding there own business), but they have a very distinct accent when they talk.
I hope this cleared it up. You just have to read it a couple of times and it will all make sense
