The assumptions..

The game will be between 500-700MB in download size.
I can download 100MB in roughly 30 minutes at home
I am looking at 3-4 hours to download at home

why do it before 5pm EST?

well, I am at work..
I have an OC-12 connection at work
I can download the game to my SAN
the SAN is fiber attached to our Dmark
I can download it at gig speeds
I can get the whole thing in 20 minutes and burn to a CD
Less time downloading is GOOD for the internet

so release it before 5 for the sake of the global on-line community!

YOu may have GigaBit speed in your network, but I can damned sure guarantee Digital River/Matrix do not have it on their end. I'll be happy if I get 75-80K throughput on it (and I have a similar setup to yours). Just downloaded the entire VisualStudio .NET 2003 Suite, including July 2004 MSDN Library, total about 3.5 GB. Took two+ days! And that was Microsoft on the other end.

I am willing to bet cold cash it will STILL be significantly faster from here , rather than doing it from home! :)

I can't download it at work, so I don't mind if it doesn't happen before 1800 MDT.
(Actually I do, I want it now, so all the people in the forum hit DR before I do, and my download goes faster [maniacal laughter])
