Then you are outa luck. It is my understanding that DR will be the only way to get it.

I'm pretty sure DR is going to be the distributor for the boxed version as well.

Besides, the boxed version comes in a pretty box....that's the only thing the CD on demand doesn't have that the boxed version will....maybe a prettier label.

Correct, the only way to get WITP is online, I remember them saying WITP will not be in stores.

Not really, and not sure what you mean by getting ripped off. Trust me the game is worth it. Hopefully Matrix will get the manual hooked up with Kinko's at a fair price (for those of us who want it). If you have high speed internet then download the game, avoids having to wait for the disk (which can be a nail biter).

Me-109K,
I downloaded the game from DR on July 2, I had absolutely NO problems with the download, in fact I think it took all of 2 hours (or less). I can't say for sure how long it took, as I began the download and went to work. When I came home the game was on my PC. As far as the back-up disc goes, that took exactly 8 days, my back-up disc arrived on July 10th. The only reasons I could see for waiting are, #1 to have the game patched and #2 if you have only a dial-up connection. Barring those 2 reasons, I would say do the CD on demand.

Rick

Same procedure as DD, the CD on demand option should be checked automatically.
The DD with dial up will take 26 hrs at 46kbs. I just waited for my disk whick took exactly
9 days to get here and I ordered the day it was released. If you sent them a check,
I believe it will take 14 days until they ship the game to you, then 3-10 days for delivery.

Are you saying that you have spent 150.00 on this game? If so you need to contact
Matrix support.

Easier said than done...i DD'd Witp on July 1st and am still waiting for my CD. I have contacted Matrix support and that is what i would suggest for anyone who has waited as long as i have. I have an Audigy2 soundcard/CTD so i am waiting for the patch...BUT...if i had my CD...i'd have other options. DR has dropped the ball on this one.

we've all been told about the game never being released into stores...but can we expect to see the game at places like amazon or gameplay?

I guess I'm at a loss understanding the problem. I don't know when you ordered it, but the CD arrives 10-14 days after your order. I feel your pain regarding dial up despite the fact that there are a few decent tools out there to get big downloads via dialup. It can be a pain. That said, once you get the game you'll be very pleased. Getting it with a box has always been a waste in my mind cause SOOO many companies over the years have wasted cash on these big cool boxes to have them tossed. Frankly, while I know its not the most environmentally sound, I wouldn't mind seeing games in DVD style cases from now on. Or something similar. Just MHO there...

Once you have the disk though Me109, you'll be grogging with the rest of us amigo. Rest assured!!

Me109, where are you located? If you already have the serial number for installation maybe some kind sole from the forum whom is nearby you could send you a CD with the game on? It sounds like it may be a quicker option.

I downloaded with dialup. It took about 30 hours (with some forum surfing going on at times) but I got it +30hr after release. Even with dialup that's quicker than waiting for the post (so long as your not paying phone charges while online)

For your original question.. I'm sure I've read that there will be a 'proper' boxed version sometime nearer the end of the year. It probably won't be sold in the shops, but will be available for order. However, if you've ordered a cd on demand and not rec'd it yet u should get onto Matrix to see if they can help.

You can resume the download. Either by resuming vie the store or by using a download manager that supports resuming. Like for example Getright (www.getright.com)

Judgin from your knickname it´s hard for me to tell if you have allready emailed our suport regarding this?

I know we forwarded all of the incoming (support@matrixgames.com) complaints about non shipped / arrived CDs to Digital Rivers vendor support.
