OK Gents...I need some hand holding.

I tried uploading to personal webspace..it worked..the pic shows up..in the sample window on the "my profile" page..but it does NOT show up in the sig space. I tried with and without the parameters. I tried taking a big framing hammer to my comp..didn't work either.

Do you have the FULL URL within the IMG prefix & suffix? Has to include the http:\\ or the ftp info....can't be just the file name....

ggallager;

I tried everything short of ear wax lavage and I can't get it to work.

If I use this format..

1) http://members.cox.net/...page address.../untitled.gif in the window

2) Enable the "enter URL" flag

The pic can be properly viewed using the picture icon to the right of the "enter URL" window..but does not show in the sig area.

If I try bracketing the url with the [img] brackets, I get the "about blank" message

I should note ...I am hitting "Apply" followed by "OK" after it refreshes?

Gentlemen

… I think this banner thing will start causing problems soon… no offence guys.. this is my fault after all

All banners posted above are really good, but some of them are simply too huge, as dwesolick said... these are posters not banners.

Banner should be smaller, (350-500 pxls wide/120-150 pxls high), size of a file should not be larger than 70kb… otherwise, people with slow internet connection will be forced to spend hours loading our banner stuff only, imagine… thread of 30+ posts… all posters have banners… a reader have to load almost 1,5mg of graphics simply just to read a thread that probably does not contain anything interesting...

Just a note for those with slow connections, I believe there is an option in the forum preferences to turn off the display of such things to speed up your surfing.

Cap:

Not sure if this is the problem, but the second tag (at the end of the URL for the file) should have a slash before the IMG

Are you doing so?

Try deleting your old sig and applying that. Wait a bit and then copy in and paste your URL from another source like notepad. After I tinkered I got mine up and running.

Later!

Hi all,

Old proverb says: "Better late than never"...

Although I am not even close to "Subchaser" (I wonder how great the signature would look like if he used my source TIFFs) it is functional I think...

Nice banner. Wasn't the Viribus Unitis an Austrian dreadnought? I'm sure it was based in what is now Croatia. Probably at Split.

Thanks!

And yes - Croatia was for several hundred of years kingdom that was part of Austrian-Hungarian empire.

But since the Croatian Adriatic coast was the only sea empire ever had most of sailors and many officers were Croats.

In 1918 when Austrian-Hungarian empire crumbled "Viribus Unitis" was taken over short lived Croatian state and sunk by Italian commandos in port when war was over.

BTW, almost all Austrian-Hungarian fleet was always based in Pula (there was shipyard that build some of them though most ships were build at Trieste - now Italy but then long standing integral part of Austrian-Hungarian empire).

Here is interesting site about 4 sister ships Viribus Unitis, Tegetthoff, Prinz Eugen and Szent Istvan (by my countryman):

I'd like to see a Jutland sim too! I'd like to see it with a North Sea strategic side and maybe even a "Naval Race" function where the player (serious geek grognard) can choose between various aspects of ship design (within limiting factors such as British beam restrictions, Kiel Canal width etc.). Ooooohhh.....aaaaahhhhh....

Regarding your sig, the footage of her sister capsizing is amazing...

Yes... "Szent Istvan" near Premuda... amazing film footage (Italian torpedo boats this time)... she lies at 90m I think and last year there was expedition to visit her...

Thus "Tegetthoff" and "Prinz Eugen" survived WWI whilst "Szent Istvan" and "Viribus Unitis" were sunk.

There was a show last night called WWI in Color on the History Channel there were like 6 1 hour episodes. In one of them, I think they showed that ship sinking. It was sunk by Italian torpedo boats. This ship got hit with 3 torpedos and sunk pretty fast. Quite amazing footage. Of course what I saw last night could of been a different ship, I was half watching as I was playing WITP.
