5 subs sunk and 1 damaged. 2 destroyers sunk plus 1 damaged. 1 tied

Conclusions from this small test:

The most important difference is the allied detection advantage. In 3 of the cases the US destroyers find and sink the sub the first day. Even though the allied sonar/asdic probably was better than the Japanese 60x60 miles is a lot of ocean (all airplanes was set to stand down). Also none of the destroyers had radar.

US subs can many times escape with damage and fight another day, IJN subs will more likely sink when hit. The mk 7 delivers almost twice the damage of the Type 95 (600 vs. 324). Both subs have nearly the same durability (30 vs. 33)

IJN destroyers attack more than US destroyers, but many times fail to hit. The Type 95 accuracy is less than the mk 7 (7 vs. 9). They also use their night experience to attack at night.

While allied ASW is more deadly than IJN ASW, the destroyers pay a higher prize. Maybe the mk-14 is to blame here.

US subs seems to dive deep more than IJN subs.

Hi all,

Nice test - thanks!

BTW, I think it would be interesting to re-post this to main forum as well (this forum is much less visited and read I think)...
