The HQ afiliation of the specific LCU or Sqdn is largely irrelevent. The only time the HQ of a unit matters is : LCUs - units to restriced commands cannot be loaded onto transports or airlifted. Sqdns - assigned to restricedHQs may only operate from bases assigned to that HQ, and cannot be loaded onto transports (exception, China command units can operate from SEAC bases, maybe others, I haven't bothered to try other commands). The specific HQ of the unit is not supposed* to affect it's ability to recieve replacements. According to the manual, only the HQ of the base makes a difference (but again, the HQ of the unit at the base is irrelevent). * frnakly, I'm not entirely convinced this is true. I believe that sqdns assigned to the same HQ seem to fill out faster than those that are not. However, this is never indicated in the manual. === Regarding bases. 1. If a Sqdn is at (any) base that has 20k supplies, it will draw replacements, regardless of the Sqdns assigned HQ. 2. If a Sqdn is at a base that is within transfer range of another base with 20k supplies, and that base (with 20k supplies) is of the same HQ as your current base, the Sqnd will draw replacements. So if your P-40 sqdn was a. based at Port Moresby with 20k supplies. You will pull replacements regardless of your sqdns HQ affiliations. b. based at PM with 15k supplies. You don't have enough inherent supplies at PM, so if you're within transfer range of 20k supplies (and same HQ as PM), will draw replacements. So if PM is in SWPac, and so is Townsville (with 20k supplies), you draw replacements. If PM is in SWPac, and Townsville (with 20k supplies) is assigned to OzCom, you will NOT draw replacements. a. LCUs with 2x the needed supplies, will draw replacements (regardless fo HQ affiliation). b. LCUs will draw replacements from any base that is within marching range, and of the same HQ as it's current base, that has 2x it's supply level. Again, the HQ affil of the LCU doesn't matter. It's the connection of the like HQ bases, and the fact that somebody upstream has 2x the supply level. You can also draw replacements from ALL bases (of ythe same HQ) that have 2x supplies. So keeping bases overstocked in the backfield is useful from drawing replacemetns for your front-line units. c. If you live on an island, you need 2x supplies to draw replacements. Even just one hex away from your parent HQ (60 miles) is a long way to swim. "marching range" is 25 (or 50, can't remember) -RAIL- hexes. 10 (or 25, can't remember) - ROAD- hexes. 5 (or 10, can't remember) -TRAIL, CLEAR, or AGRI- hexes. 1 "other" hex (so you're plowing thru pure jungle, you can only trace supply one hex to your base).
