Here is my problem…I cannot get the Command Line (Attached to HQ’s) on Truk Island to change from the IJN Southeast Fleet to any US Command HQ (Central or South, the only two options). I have spent 360 political points, 180 points each time--two times to try and change it’s HQ with no luck (it takes the points, but does not change the status). None of my 664 aircraft I now have on the island will attack any Japanese targets, and any ships I have docked there—the computer takes over them and tries to send them back to ports in Japan. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???

Additional background…. I am playing scenario 15 (The War in the Pacific), I am the Allied side, and the computer is the Japanese. I am running version v1.40 (Dec 2004); I have over 139,000 troops (about 10 Divisions) on Truk Island, over 664 aircraft (including about 316 long range bombers), over 270 in aviation support, and over 645 engineers. Plus I have over 105,000 tons of supplies and 27,000 tons of fuel located on the island. Both the Airfield and Port have been repaired to full operational status with no damage (both 0%) and all Japanese ground troops have been eliminated, plus I have captured over 60 Japanese Aircraft.

What am I missing here?

From what other people have reported, it looks like the AI (through the game program) goes wonky when you capture one of the bases it uses when "planning" its turn and "issuing" orders. People have mentioned Bangkok in particular, but I think I've seen Saipan, Rabaul, and one of the major Chinese cities mentioned, as well.

Pry or somebody will likely want to see your save game. The e-mail address is posted here in the "support" forum someplace.

This is wrong and needs to be fixed. Pry will see this if you go to the OOB 1.4 thread at the begining of the WITP forums and report this. Thanks

Well at least we got somebody to pay attention. Send the save to Mr. Frag. BTW It's a real good idea to have a save when bringing problems to this forum

Hi, No airfield should ever have more then 500 aircraft. 50xairfield size. Or your overloading the field. While this alone will not prevent them from flying it does reduce the number by 25 percent per group before other factors are considered. Of course that has nothing to do with the HQ problem. Just making sure you know overloading airfields is bad.

In my game vs AI I´ve taken Lunga and Chandpur which both stayed under Allied control. The result is that my squadrons forget their ordered targets and now and then a TF under computer control is formed although everything is under human control. I noticed that only bases I take by sea may stay under AI control. I took Changsha from the landside and it changed to Southern Area control. Changsha is no problem for me but I can´t use Lunga for my Betties because every time I set them to port attack on Efate they attack Tassafaronga which I left an Aussie base for training purpose.
