I'm playing as Allies vs AI in a scenario 09 game started under 1.30 but now playing under 1.40 , it's July 42 and I've just re-captured Myithyina in Burma and decide to airlift in my spanking new Chindit Brigade from Dacca. All goes well until the last fragment is transfered , then phhhtt! the whole brigade disappears in a puff of virtual smoke. I thought this particular bug had been sqaushed . Anyway there seems several possibilities :-

a) The bug is alive and well , living happily in 1.40

b) The bug is only there in games started under 1.30 but survived the patch and I'll need to restart to squash it.

c)My savegame data has become corrupt ( I've seen some wierd stuff like no LCU's showing on the base screen even when present and the mouseover showing six units present when there were seven at another base. Both were ok on the next turn.)

d)The bug will be killed in 1.50

e) Something I haven't thought of.

Anybody have any problems with this or ideas to prevent or correct it ?
Are my Chindits lost forever ?

Same problem (started under 1.3, upgraded to 1.4) here with Fast Transport TF. Lost parts of a Dutch Regiment when I fast-transported it. Not used FT since then.

Can anyone confirm that a new game started under 1.40 stops the problem ?

Under games started under 1.40 it is still possible to lose a unit while transporting it.

To avoid losing the unit you need to keep track of how much of the unit has been transported. Right at the end, just before you transport the last bit (when the origin-unit is still the parent but when it will disappear that turn) you need to stop transporting for one turn. During that one turn of rest the game will rename the unit at the orgin /1 or some other subunit and start calling the destination unit the parent.

Basically just don't transport the last bit of the parent unit (by air particularly) and you will be alright.

Once the destination unit becomes the parent, it appears to be safe to transport the remainder of the unit. Just in case that wasn't clear.

Not only not yet, but the bug still exists in games started under 1.4.

Is it worth sending in a save of a game where it happens if that game was started under 1.30 and upgraded to 1.40 ?
I understood they only want saves of pure 1.40 games.

Same question - just lost the '9 Group RAAF HQ' and the '91 RAAF Aviation Eng' via air transport in a game started way back under v1.20. Have a repeatable save - worth sending?

Unfortunately I've just discovered that the above work around isn't 100% cast iron . I was airlifting the Burma Corps HQ from Imphal to Mandalay , waited for a turn until the largest part at Mandalay became the main unit and the part at Imphal became Burma Corps/2 , then resumed the airlift . Bang , sure enough , next turn the entire HQ had vanished .
Looks like I will either have to give up on air transporting troops or put up with fragments of units scattered all over the bloody map , both of which is a major PitA .

I have a repeatable save if anyone is interested .

I just lost a base force in Australia without even touching it. New game started under 1.4. Consequently I have air units that are being disabled in Sydney now and no way to get them fixed until I can find a spare one. I am only a week into Scen. 15!

Not very much here any more since I had CTDs in earlier versions associated with it.

I almost never actually click on the button itself* , but I use the escape key constantly to go back to the previous screen .

*The only time I use the button is if I've got a mug of coffee in my left hand and therefore have to move my thumb off "escape"

Is there a possible connection ?

Good news - Bad news

It seems my Chindit brigade at Myitkyina ( how do you pronounce that anyway ?) is not lost ...
They have merely discovered stealth technology .

I have moved all my guys on to Mandalay except for a base force , but when I checked the base screen for Myitkyina it shows an assault value of 127 and over 7,000 troops there. The LCU screen just shows the base force .
So the good news is my guys are still there , the bad news is they can't be contacted .
If somebody can tell me how to take screenshots I'll post them.

I wonder if the guy in charge of them has gone Apocalypse Now on me ?

P.S. I have a save if required.

If you have the save the turn before they went stealth, it would be of help.

Once they are stealthed (break in a linked list somewhere), the damage is done. Need to catch the damage in the act to fix the cause.

Damn and blast , sorry , I thought I still had it but it appears I've overwritten it . It took several turns before I realized it had stealthed . If it happens again I'll send it for sure.

Does it matter that the game was started under 1.30 ?

No, with this one it doesn't matter as the unit didn't go awol immediately after the upgrade.

I've found the save where the Burma Corps HQ unit goes stealth and sent it off.

Good Luck
