After playing some scenarios and getting used to the GUI some questions arose:

It seems to be not possible to set doctrine for units that arrive as reinforcements later in a scenario?

Is it possible to set doctrine for more than one unit at the same time? It takes a lot of mouseclicks to tell everybody what I want.

Is it possible to set the Reporting for more than one unit at the same time? I like them really quiet and again, I have to tell everybody and his brother.

The manual says that giving multiple units a move order creates waypoints for them with formation offsets. Are the offsets visible as waypoints? How do I set them?

Cheers
Oliver

You need to make sure the option "Unit Doctrine Editable Anytime" is checked under Realism Options for setting Unit Doctrine midway. This could be a "feature" that Rob may look at, being as you haven't been allowed to assign doctrine to reinforcements.

I always play with Unit Doctrine Editable Anytime switched on...I think I should be allowed to change how a unit behaves depending on the flow of battle.

No.

I think the manual must be incorrect. I remember bringing this up with Robert. As far as I can remember, when you select a bunch of units and assign waypoints, they will all end up in the same square. Perhaps the manual is on about adjusting the times so they end up in the same square at the same time...I'll have to read that. You got a page number?...save me lookign up the wrong section.

OK, I almost forgot about this setting since I just set everything to high realism at the very beginning. Thanks.

OK, understood. Maybe this could be a suggestion for some upcoming patch.

The page number is 59 (on the page, not the Acrobat number), there it says: "All group members get the same order and waypoints (plus or minus formation offsets)."

I also thought that this might be about the grid, but this is explained on p. 62. By the way, the screenshot for this is wrong and the menu item is called "Inspect Group Waypoints" in the game. (Sorry for being nitpicky )

Rob and co are always keen for feedback of any kind. It's feedback that keep the product great.

That does suggest (for me also) that the units will each have individual waypoints...but I know this not to be the case...or rather, they each have individual waypoints, because you can delete one of the units waypoints after assigning them to a group of units...but I know for a fact that no offsets will be planned...if indeed offsets suggest they will be "relative" to the formation as it started.

Regarding waypoints for multiple units. At the start of a scenario I will give multiple units orders at once. Then cycle through each individual unit once they have the orders and adjust the waypoint location so they don't all end up in the same spot

Good point Belphegor. I've never thought of that!

I'll keep that in mind...in particular when playing with Limited Staff Rule, as it will only use one order, me thinks.

Ah yes, at the time that part was written that was indeed true. Then we changed a little later in response to playtester feedback and I forgot to update the documentation. I will put that on a list. I like Belphegor's suggestion to vary the waypoints manually - that way you get the best of both worlds.

I rarely give group orders myself anywmore but it is a topic I am warming too and I hope to do a lot more with it again shortly.

Stay tuned, Rob.

D_ploy - an extra brownie point to you for actually reading the rules! I sweated bullets writing those up - it was a creative agony - and I figured that basically no one would ever even look at them. That even one person has done so make it feel much more worth the effort.

BTW, they were not nearly as well written before Mike Eckenfels got his hands on them. He kept the spirit of them but made the actual words read a lot better.

Thanks, Rob.
