women just don't understand the importance of saving the world from japanese/allied forces. I had many struggles against my beloved over games, because she find them stupid in general (no matter if it's witp or river raid). what I find stupid about woman bahaviour is a matter of lesser importance.

Given the choice of playing WitP or designing and building a time machine to go back in time to the 1940's, my wife is content that I play WitP. What she doesn't understand is that I would rather spend a month doing a scenario design and then maybe play it for three hours before I see things I want to change and start all over again. THAT is what drives her nuts.

------------------------

You don't have to start all over again ! If you saved it, you'll just change the things you want to and then you play ( and enjoy) again !

My wife knew what she was getting into even before we were married.
First it was the SSG games for the old Apple Computer. (Rommel in the Desert, Carriers at War, etc.)
Then Kampgruppe on the Amiga,
Then War in the Pacific, and War in Russia on the PC
Then the "Team Fortress Doom" phase I went through with joining clans and such. (what was I thinking)
Then SPWaW
UV
and WITP!
there you have it, 20 years of Computer gaming all on one post, kinda makes it all seem less important looking back on it.

Hi,
my girlfriend last present for my birthday was a BF-109 model kit.
I think it must be love.

my wife despises games of all kinds. i find myself waking up an hour early for work just so i can slip in a few moves on whatever game. honestly i think it's because she's not any good at them and doesn't understand them. well either that or she's actually an alien.....

Girlfriends require time and money therefore Girlfriends = (Money x Time)

As well all know Time = Money
Therefore Girlfriends = Money x Money or (Money)2
So Girlfriends = (Money)2
Since money is the root of all evil then Evil = The square root of Money
Therefore the square root of (Money)2 = Evil
Therefore Girlfriends = Evil!
Especially if they keep you from playing WiTP!

This is not a problem for me since my wife won't let me have a girlfriend anyway. Just as well, how could I find time for a wife, WiTP, and a girlfriend?

(This would be a lot clearer if I could use a square root symbol but it is not supported)

I wish my wife had a hobby other than generating more entries on the "Honey Do" list.

Course, I can't be too unhappy as I do have 2 very time intensive (and expensive) hobbies; wargaming and 2 classic Mustangs. So if I'm not conquering the Pacific, I'm at a carshow or scrounging parts or cleaning parts or painting parts or assembling parts or disassembling parts or replacing parts, etc, etc, etc...

BTW, did you know that 1 combat turn in WitP is just long enough for me to polish a small part? I might be able to do larger parts if I went to 2 day turns.

I do have to say that she is very tolerant of me.

Chez

I can't understand why my wife loves and understands chess but can't get interested in the finer points of amphibious warfare and logistics.

Or two???

I once dated a girl that had an absolute fascination with the American Civil War. Unfortuneatly, I made the mistake of debating her rather than simply blindly agree with everything she said.... OOPS

This is a GREAT thread!

If I had found a computer and wargames, I would most never have found a wife.

As it developed, I played the board games before, and she tolerated it.

She can't stand computer games, because she's a computer widow.

But, as it's been said, I'm not out chasing other women, and she only needs to look to see where I am.

Now, if she'd only NOT look when I'm looking at "adult" sites!

Would I "trade her in"? Not by a damned site!

Would I rather be alone without wife and children, etc.? You betcha! But I'd also want to win the lottery so that I was independently wealthy first! Since the odds of that happening are something like 7 million to 1, I do not see this as a viable option.

Your issue is your "girlfriend." If she will marry you despite your wargaming flaws - DO IT! If she won't, don't waste your time - she'll NEVER understand.

To that guy who's significant other bought him WITP, MARRY HER IMMEDIATELY! She will hate you (and herself) for your love of this game. In her case, it's HER fault! For the rest of us? Well, ....

God, I love and hate this game!

I take the laptop home, put it on the coffee table, connect up to the net, download my pbem files and play. Her indoors is cool with that, she gets to use the family computer, the kids play on the Playstation cuddled up to me and everyone's happy... Now, I wonder if she'll let me take it to Maui with us next week...

OK - i just spent 20 minutes looking through different acronym databases, searching the net, etc.

What does "lolz" stand for? It seems to be a very common acronym, yet google's acronym database doesn't have it.

You know the stupid habit about people using 'z' for the 's'? Just a guess but I think it means multiple lol, or lol's, or as they put it when using a z without the apostrophe 'lolz'.
