I was just testing a naval battle in the Marianas scenario and after a draw battle with american BBs, this is what happened:

My TF met many PT boats and in the process they started to increase the damage, without reason...and that ended with
-Yamato is going to sink due to a torpedo launched by a PT boat...
-Musashi is going to sink due to a 14.1 and a 16.1 inches hits
-Nagato is going to sink due to a single hit
-Kongo sunk due to a PT torpedo and two or three shots...maybe this is the only one that could be justified...
Of course none of the hits were Magazine Explosions...

Yes, and every heavy damaged ship is truly heavy daamged, with sys and float damage up to 70 and at least 20 to 30 fires!!.

16 x 6 PT boats ... You felt the need to eat 384 torpedoes?

Thats equal to 25 CV's worth of TBD's ... would you see a problem if you sailed in range of them?

That´s not the point, the point is that my ships increased the damage with no reason! , so that the BB Yamato is going to sink due to a single PT torpedo!

Fire/Flood damage grows ... Japan's damage control is not too great.

Need to see what you were actually fighting as Saipan does not belong to the US in this scenario at the start yet you were obviously getting creamed by automatic computer generated PT boats. Since they start at Eniwetok, you are telling a little bit of a long story and expecting people to guess at the rest.

Yes I know, but it seems that is "too much damage grows". As I said Yamato was only torpedoed by a single PT torpedo (no magazine explosion) and its damage goes from 60 to 80 (sys and float) and fires are more than 20.

I sent the Jap. BBs to Saipan to see a big surface combat. I met some enemy BB but the engagement resulted in a draw. Only three of my ships on fire. After that, they met a whole army of unspotted PTs and that was the result.

Saipan was american then, the AI had conquered it some weeks ago.

I repeat the turn again and every damaged BB again increases its damage with no reason (apparently)

Not to be too much of a smart-*** but I sure wish the KB had that problem in my game agaisnt the hated Jap AI. My forts and libbys from PM shoved 31 500 pounders into Ryujo and Shokaku without any sunk.

Floatation damage causes system damage.

Fire damage causes system damage.

Both take time to repair and system damage continues to increase until both are repaired.

Why don't you send the save so I don't have to guess what detail you are leaving out?

What you dont seem to be grasping here, Mister Fragg, is that this all happened in 1 night. The Yamato took 1 total torpeedo and 3 shell hits from a PT boat (so thats what? 3 40mm hits?) early on, and because the system damage is re-assessed after every combat, in this one particular case, there was 12 combats after that hit the Yamato (and other ships) took system damage based on 30+ days at sea in the course of 12 hours (assuming fire/flotation damage is adjusted 1 time per day). So from 3 40mm and 1 PT torp she burned to the waterline in less than 12 hours? I DONT THINK SO (hug the Yamato).

System damage should not be re-assessed after every combat. Should be once per day IMHO. I believe it is currently once per phase, and as this example illistrates even that is too much.
