Unable to post AARs for the past couple of days.
Here is a summary of events:
7/15th Battle of Wake 4.0 Both a transport and a PG hit mines in Wake. SS Growler takes a potshot at CA Nachi and misses, (This is part of CVL Shoho Task force)Transports keep landing additional men and supplies on Wake, and keep taking heavy damage from coastal defenses. Shock attacks by japanese result in 10:1 loss rate favoring allies.
7/16th Battle of Wake 4.0: 3 APs hit mines at Wake. CVL Zuiho is spotted N of Wake. 3 Battleships are spotted in Wake, Kongo, Hiei and Mutsu. Kongo is actually hit by a 500Lb bomb, with no effect.
Burma front: A poorly coordinated air raid from Bangkok attacks shipping in Moulmein. No effect. An attack on Mytkivina results in greater Japanese losses than allied for the first time. A large Japanese surface compass fleet encompassing 4 Battleships and 4 heavy cruisers is seen steaming up the gulf of Siam.
7/17: Battle of Wake 4.0 AP Mutsumishu hit by torp fro SS Herring and sinks. Also AP Sumiyashi Maru and PG Okiyo reported as sunk from previous damage.
Burma front: The surface combat task force comes under air attack from Swordfish and Beaufort aircraft from Moulmein. BB Yamato, Nagato, as well as CA Maya and CL Naka identified. Nagato is hit by 2 bombs, with possible damage to one of its AA mounts, one bomb hits CA Maya with no reported damage. A heavy air raid, better coordinated this time causes quite some damage to shipping in Moulmein harbor, A large number of Zeroes are reported destroyed. Japanese attempt to fly in supplies to Rangoon intercepted. A Japanese brigade tangles with our blocking force on the rail going to Rangoon, is attacked and repels the attack with heavy allied casualties.
7/18/41 Battle of Wake 4.0 AP KidoKauri Maru sinks from previous damage; a Japanese shock attack drops fortifications to 6, with heavy losses on both sides. Japanese carrier and surface forces seem to be leaving Wake to resupply (or it may be a trap)
Burma front: Surface combat task force comes under air attack for a second day. Yamato and Nagato take a hit apiece from 500 Kg bombs, with no damage. Betties from Bangkok raid Moulmein again, with some success on the remaining shipping in the harbor, but again have severe losses in their carrier escort.

A quiet turn. The Yamato task force inches closer to Moulmein. I think it is trying to time its approach with the attack of a few groups of Japanese land forces sighted between Rangoon and Moulmein. A new attack on Mytkivina again yields higer Japanese than allied forces.
Nothin new in Wake, both sides trade bombardment attacks. Japanese surface forces seem to be heading towards Marcus Is, although a Japanese ship is sighted heading in the oposite direction. Tentatively identified as a cruiser, it could also be a sub.

BBC world service: Here is the news.
A large enemy fleet, spearheaded by the Jap navy's newest and largest Battleship attacked shipping in Moulmein, and bombarded our forces. Despite efforts by our Fleet out of Tricomalee and our submarines we were not able to intercept it with surface combatants. Both Nagato and Yamato were hit several times by air attacks though.
Finally the Japanese have committed large forces to try and retake Moulmein. Fighting has been heavy, but British and Indian forces are holding the port and airfield.
In Wake, a relief convoy got through and unloaded badly needed supplies to the besieged allied forces. It was intercepted by a large surface combat fleet, but due to the heroism of the escorting destroyers, it managed to unload most of its cargo, and is now returning to base. Heavy air combat over Wake signaled the return of the enemy carrier fleet to provide air cover, thus exposing enemy carriers to our air attack.

In a generally bad day for the defenders at Wake, the Japanese reduce fortifications at Wake and cause heavy losses. Meanwhile enemy carrier based aircraft sink one of the AKs of the Wake relief force.
On a more positive note, Operation Shortstop is set to start tomorrow.
Buna airfield is now the target of Japanese bombers from Lae. It appears the Japanese do not appreciate allied bombers there

Though the attack at Moulmein was a nasty surprise, it has done little to effect my plans in the area. With Wake almost defeated and the Communist chinese on their last leg, Imperial forces have begun the preparation for Oeration West Wind. This will probably take some time as half the Imperial navy will need serious repairs after attempting to keep the forces at Wake supplied.

The Department of the Navy regrets to announce that the Wake island garrison surrendered this morning after a heroic defense. The long and hard action has caused severe damage and losses to the imperial Japanese navy; damage from which it might never recover in time. The second Marine DIvision has seized Nauru island easily, and is being prepared for other offensive operations.

7/30/42: An oiler gets hit by mines 7 times at Wake! a troop transport hits a mine in the same place; his spiteness is going to have a passel of trouble to keep that atoll supplied.
Two large task forces attack Moulmein. In the BB TF Yamato and Nagato are seen; Yamato eats a torpedo. In addition, a large CV TF also attacks Moulmein. Zuikaku, Soryo and another one are identified and attacked by Beauforts and Swordfishes, with no success.
7/31 Nothing much happening.

My carriers surprised a British TF steaming toward Rabaul or Moulmein. I have reinforced Rabaul with Ki-61s and a few Ki-44s this should keep his air force from sinking my shipping in the area. A transport TF is unloading much needed supplies and 4 divisions, 2 of them veterans from Wake, are heading to the area to put an end to the little beachhead at Moulmein.
Meanwhile in China, I am content to let most of the communists starve to death, while I bombard them decide what to do next.
The South Pacific is the quiet sector where I am resting my bomber units and moving troops around.

I'm glad to see warspite keeping this updated since I can't access the forums at work anymore, and at home I reserve the computer time for actual play.

Due to the job computer not letting me access the forum, updates have become scarce.
8/31/42
The heroic defenders of Moulmein have succumbed today to overwhelming odds and Moulmein is, once again, Japanese. Their sacrifice has not been in vain though. Mytkivina's fortifications have been eroded to 0, and it is about to be retaken by the allies. This will again open up the Burma road and allow supplies to flow to China.
Unfortunately there are no allied carriers until the Essex joins up in 4 months (actually some additional CVEs will be joining before) CVE Long Island is also available, for what it's worth.
Here is the situation in Burma

And finally here is the general overview.
I would have also shown the Dutch East Indies but that would give away the position of my subs

After the Wasp sunk, without much to show for it, and the fall of Moulmein, the only positive news has been the fall of Mytkivina, which has opened up, at least for now the Burma road.
There is a real risk for the allies of an auto victory.

So here is a summary by theaters:
China: A Langchow still resists Warspite Hito's efforts in the North. The Southern Chinese front is still quiet.
Marshalls: After the capture of Mirin, and the loss of Wasp, this front is now quiet. Forces are being reinforced, resupplied and redeployed in this front. I wonder if Japan will attempt recapture of Mirin or not.
Solomons: Munda has a nicely functional airbase, with Dauntless operating from it. I am strong enough at Guadalcanal ( I think)to prevent Warspite Hito to expand here towards Noumea.
New Guinea: Japan alternates air raids against Buna or PM, but has, to date, made no further attempts to expand here.
DEI: I still hold Timor, and Kendari comes under intermittent B17 attacks from Darwin. These attacks however incur heavy losses due to lack of long range fighter support.
Burma. The good news: Mytkivina has been retaken, and the Burma road is open.
The bad news: It appears that Japan is getting ready to push into Mytkivina again; as if this wasn;t enough, he persists in bombing Akyab airfield heavily, and he has 2 task forces entering the Bay of Bengal, one a carrier force, and a cruiser force. My LBA has been generally inneffective in hindering this.

Warspite has now one carrier fleet in the Bay of Bengal, as well as a TF with a battlewagon in it. The Battleship TF's purpose is to get my bombers to bomb the battleship, instead of the carrier force, where they could actually do some damage.
Two flights of Wellingtons attempted, unsuccessfully to intercept the enemy, but could not locate the targets.
Meanwhile he savaged some transports that were returning, empty to Karachi.

According to Japanese intelligence the balance of power has shifted completely to the IJN. Allied losses have far outstripped our own and given the numerical advantage we possessed in the Pacific at the beginning of the war the Allies must be powerless to stop any further operations in any theatre we wish to pursue them.

LOSSES TO DATE _CV _CVL CVE _BB _CA _CL _DD _DE _APD
.>>>>>>>Allies: __6 __1 __0 ___5 __1 __8 __41 _1 ___7

>>>>>>>Japan: __1 __0 __0 ___2 __1 __4 __11 _0 ___10

At present Imperial Japanese forces are involved in two air campaigns, one over New Guinea and the other in Burma. The campaign over New Guinea involves the bombing of Port Moresby and Buin while the Americans conduct raids against Rabaul. Thus far the engagement has gone our way, but the Daihonei reports that all pilot reserves are now exhausted, so our ability to maintain a qualitative edge will be hindered. To counter this three well trained squadrons with our latest aircraft have been sent to Lae and Rabaul to bolster our position.

In Burma the main emphasis has been the port of Akyab, with its airfield and large numbers of bombers and fighters. It is believed that the air field will soon be left in operational considering the close to 200 bombers we have attacking it daily. Once this is done we can then pound their ground forces at will and reopen the way to Mythiyka. For their part the British have resigned themselves to bombing our troops in the field to little effect.

Besides the two major air campaigns, Japanese forces are mopping up opposition in China and conducting raids in the Indian Ocean. At present we have the communist Chinese surrounded and conducting barrages on their positions daily. It is believed that they will soon run out of supplies. The First Carrier Fleet with support from the Second Cruiser Force is conducting successful operations off the coast of India. After sinking the British carrier forces last month, it was decided to press the advantage in this area and sweep all Allied shipping from the seas. The attack though responsible for extensive damage to the British, has been hampered by a lack of sea worthy carriers and escorts.

The damage suffered to our fleet in the initial stages of the war and especially outside of Wake Island, where a good number of our transport ships were sunk or heavily damaged, has greatly reduced our ability to conduct further advances. However, the imminent return of the Akagi, in dry dock since January, and several other capital ships will soon allow us to push the Allies from our intended defensive perimeter. To this end, the Daihonei has begun planning two new operations to extend our line, plan A-Go and M-Go. M-Go will be a simple land offensive and should result in an easy advance. Objectives have been set for a 200 kilometre advance. A-Go will be a little more difficult as it is an amphibious operation and the transport fleet is still in disarray after the Battle of Wake.

If these two Operations are triumphant we are engaged in long term planning for a final operation, codenamed Sugar Harvest that should give Japan complete victory by December. The Americans will be forced to sue for peace, and with the industrial might of this country out of the war, Britain and the Netherlands will be forced to submit to our demands.

And he keeps raiding in the Gulf of Bengal.
The archbishop of Canterbury has ordered all churches in England and the territories to pray for a massive typhoon in the Bay of Bengal.
