Dear Tim

Can we please have a download section set up on the Battles of Napoleon website where we can upload uniform portraits for periods outside 1789 to 1825. It would also be helpful if you could post two dozen or so examples of the artwork already done so that it is easy for people to establish the house style.

I have also noticed that the unit portraits available for the DBA Online ancient & medieval computer wargame are very easy to shrink to 72 pixels wired by 60 high. As there are over 1000 of these, and given the ability to make changes to missile and melee offensive & defensive values in the unit editor, using the game to modd ancient and medieval warfare, even without your developing it specifically for these periods would adhere to be extremely tempting.

Any thoughts anybody

Hey Tim,

I am betting that the design team is quite busy right now --and quite possibly, your request might take some time to accomplish, if it can at all. Will units be moddable? Who knows?

Although, I am not sure why anyone would want to change the game to "look" like it is outside the scope of the Napoleonic Era. Think about it. The game mechanics are especially orientated for the Napoleonic Era. Modding what the game looks like would only give the "impression" that it is about a different era when it is still Napoleonic inside. Wouldn't it?

I am also betting that they will be making games for other eras once this one is completed. What era are you interested in?

Rick,
I see things the same way...elements can be modded but they don't give the same feel for other periods.

The unit pictures are simple bitmaps and the scenario designers can add in as many as they want.

The unit map icons, are moddable as well, but the number is limited to 22 colors for each unit type:
infantry
cavalry
artillery
horse arty
fixed arty
pioneer
inf supply
arty supply
leaders (5 levels)

There will be an upload section once the game is released for scenarios and custom work.

I will put up a unit picture and a shot of the icons.

Tim
