Yes, the only thing that bothers me about this game is that it reminds me of Empire Deluxe. Which is pretty bad when it comes to graphics. Not that I need great graphics but I thought we were beyond that day and age...

So we have WitP, Polish guys are making War across Pacific (I hope it will be around $10 or shareware), and Russians are making Pacific Storm (english demo will be available in June). I'm in heaven.

Hmmmm "Midway first carrier battle ever"

dosn't cover the coral sea then ? :)

I usually dont mind bad graphics but these look like it was programmed in the late 80's ! there is no excuse for that these days.

OK it's a hot day and I'm waiting for some turn in my mail

Exactly! Our modders made better maps and unit graphics (for free).

Okay, graphics suck - but so what, I still play Empire Deluxe occasionally . And I noticed at least one feature in this game which WitP doesn't have - it allows putting at least two Admirals in the same TF. And in conrast to WitP, this game will run on my stoneage laptop I'm forced to use for providing me with the life-saving doses of computer games when I'm out of town .

15 megs sounds about right...most programs these days are all graphics (the main reason games are reaching 2 gigs now). Must be a conspiracy to make ppl buy bigger HD's...

I loved Empire Delux. There was another game sorta like ED with the same sort of cheesy graphics that I can't recall. It covered Guadacanal and the South Pacific. The one thing I remember was when you bombarded an island you you would see the island with building and you could see the shells from bombarding ships hitting stuff. This game came out around the mid 90's...

It was QQP Battles of South Pacific (or something like that). Interesting game, very similar to Gray Grigsby´s War in South Pacific (in design, not in graphics)

YES!! That's it!! You can actually still download it for free. SSI also put out a pretty decent carrier battle sim in the Mid -90's. Don't know how Battle in the SOuth Pacific and the SSI game will run on newer OS's.

The game looks promising (graphically appaling however). I think had it come before WitP, or maybe before UV I would pick it up, but in 9/10 ways WitP seems to be superior, and if I already have it, that wakes WAP a bit superflouous.

That said, WAP is a good low cost alternative to WitP. I think had it been released 10 years ago, where it would be competing with say PTO 2, it would be great. But in 2005, I think its a wee bit outdated.

I would hope that someone from Gdansk would know some Polish.

Wasn't there an English version of the web site?

"andy11"'s posts, both here and on wargamer.com, usually read either "Did you see this" and then a link to the site, or just a link to the site. He never seems to posts in any other thread, or any other type of message. I guess he must be in charge of marketing for the game. Pity he doesn't spend more of his time getting the info translated so that it's accessible to a few more people.
