SS Tautog got creamed by a MASSIVE asw TF in the sea of China. Despite denials by Warspite-Hito San, we believe important enemy transports are bound to transit the area.
Otherwise thins have been quite qiet. Kendari seems to be free of enemy aircraft.

SSSturgeon is reported hit off Lingayen.
In China, Japanese forces are spotted and attacked near Kweiyiang in the South, in what appears to be a coordinated attack against Kweiyiang and Chungking. Both bases are well garrisoned, relatively well supplied, and distant from Japanese supply depots. It is questionable that the Japanese have the staying power to take them, This for now seems to be the only activity in the Pacific theater.

Another raid on Lae. Japanese losses were greater than allied, however no bombers bombed.
Meanwhile B17s hit an AP in Kendari. I do think that AP was already in a bad shape before the raid

The AAR did not get generated though

P38s now in Inphal and ordered to cover Akyab against the routine attack.
In addition large surface forces are noted to be assembling in Rabaul. At least one BB force, with a CV force, and possibly a large cruiser or CV force seen.
It is estimated that the enemy is planning either a surface attack on the barges at Buin, or a sortie into the Coral Sea. To counter the expected, and most likely, sortie to attack the barges at Buin, each barge force is accompanied by a large number of PTs. Also, all the B25s at Munda have been set to naval attack. Two wings of heavy bombers have been tasked to naval attack, although the effectiveness may be questionable. In addition, dive bombers have been stationed at Buin, although they might not prove too effective since the heavies can creep in at night. Torpedo bombers have been stationed at Munda, in case of a lucky strike, and submarines have been dispatched to intercept any wounded ship trying to return to Rabaul.
In case of an attempt to sortie into the Coral Sea, torpedo bombers and medium bombers at Gili are tasked to intercept, with fighters attached to Gili to escort. Also torpedo bombers have been sent to Kiriwina with F4F escorts. Medium bombers at Gili are also tasked to naval attack.
None of these however is expected to stop or destroy a determined Kido Butai attack into Coral sea, however the plan is to have KB expend sorties on its way to the Coral Sea. Later on, Essex, and its escorts, (all CVEs) since CVL is just now approaching Guadalcanal will await KB SE of the Louisiades and, hopefully strike a fatal blow to at least some of the KB carriers.

That's it for this operation; reinforcements have moved in, and the Japanese are too strong for the available forces to dislodge. Additional forces shouldn't be committed due to the difficulties with supply over a jungle trail.

The scarcity of landing craft is the main factor in delaying offensive operations at this point. Landing craft have to be slowly and painfully shuttled from one area of operations to another for even the smallest of landings. If this shuttle operations are detected by the enemy, it is very easy for them to predict the likely location of the next attack. No solution to this serious problem is impending. The numbers of APs available are not sufficient to use APs for amphibious operations.
Operation Shotgun: Originally involved using two USMC raider battallions to effect simultaneous attacks on Jaluit and Maloelap in the Marshalls. This would be followed shortly afterwards by the main landing in Kwajalein by the 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions and supporting units. It has been changed to use both raider battalions, plus the 138 RCT on Jaluit. The 114th Base force will provide support.
Meanwhile, as soon as the next TF of landing craft is assembled at Kaupeng, Operation Tulip Dragon will launch its attack on the DEI using the Dutch forces assembled at Kaupeng. Immediately after the beachhead is secured, at least half of the landing craft will move into the support of Operation Coconut Oil, the invasion of Amboina, the first enemy oil base that will be liberated.

Maumere falls, unopposed. Dutch troops also land on Waingapu on the island of Sumba.
A P40 sweep precedes air attacks on Lae. 30 P40s engage 63 enemy fighters. 3 Zeros and 10 Tonys are destroyed, at a cost of 8 P40s.

In Burma allied troops are advancing upon Mandalay. However an allied attack fails just outside Mandalay.
Next step in Dragon Tulip requires rapid deployment of base force to Maumere, and establishing a size 3 Airfield there soonest. Will initiate movement of SBDs towards the theater of operations.

Lae hit by heavy and medium bombers. Enemy losses are 19 fighters destroyed, at a cost of 7 P38s, 2 Mitchells and 1 B24. Japanese retaliate with a heavy attack on Buna, that destroys 4 F4F 5 P40 and, on the ground, 2 Seagulls. 4 Sally and 4 Helen destroyed. Waingapu taken without opposition.

Recon photos in the Marshalls show that the enemy has reinforced Maloelap and Jaluit to 7000 and 10000 troop forces apiece. This is excessive for the forces available, so the planned reduced Shotgun is cancelled.

Still March 15th.
In the Banda Sea, Operation Tulip Dragon is now complete. Waingapu falls without opposition, and the only thing that remains now is the transport of forces to establish the airbase. As soon as transport is complete the LCs will be redeployed in support of other invasions.

In Burma, advance on Mytkivina has stopped at the entrance to the city. A large amount of terrain has been gained, unfortunately no base has been conquered. The Chindits have been ordered back to Inphal. With the Japanese withdrawal to Mytkivina, the threat to India may be considered resolved, and plans can begin for an allied offensive in the Bay of Bengal. This may be started by an invasion of the Andaman Is, as soon as it becomes feasible.

Today two subs strike gold near Brunei. Albacore survives an ASW attack, and hits an AK. She is hit by the escorts and suffers quite a bit of damage. (Might not make it back actually). Nearby, Flying fish attacks a TK TF, hits the TK, but the dang torpedoes fail to detonate; undaunted, she attacks a second TK TF that passed nearby, and scores a hit on Teiyo Maru. Flying fish is hit by the escorts, but should be able to "fly" back....
