Hi mc.

But you spoke to me (or was Hoepner...) about Australia in CHS. You told me that we need an house rules down there. Not landing in Australia until march '42 to avoid the problems that you have encountered.

Don't be to sure about that.
In one of my other game, PoW and R took a lot of torpedoes and bombs and they still floating, heading back to Karachi.
PoW took another torpedo from a jap sub under way, but she's still alive!

I did indeed and I confirm my opinion.
Btw I checked and Feb '42 would be enough. The first Australian HQ units che get to Darwin by late Jan '42 (by land).

But GH doesn't share my view - as far as I understood - and in fact he has asked for no such house rule.
Hence going for Darwin is an open option and one that should be taken.

Hey Hawker,

I would strongly advise you not to count on GH's mistakes. He seldom makes one. Are you positive Wuchow is empty?
It's not like GH to do such a mistake. It could actually be a trap for your paratroopers.

The only way I see he makes a mistake is if he is for some reason underevaluating you, but again don't count on it.

Anyway it looks like you've been doing a good job so far Keep it up!

AFTER ACTION REPORT FOR 15-16.12 1941

MALAYA

Two divisions and four brigades are in Malaya and they pushing south. In Khota Baru are 150 bombers with two Zero Daitai for escort. That will be enough to punish Singapore.
His withdrawing his troops to south.I dont think that he is fool enough to withdraw to Singapore ASAP.I think that he make first stand North of Singapore and after in Johore Baru.I dont know.He is a good player and those withdrawing units he will not move in Singapore.

BORNEO

Invasion fleet for Palembang assembling in Kutcing.I need one more week.I need to conquer Palembang ASAP.There will not be naval bombardments in Palembang.

CHINA

I will maintain status quo on the north. After conquering HK i will have 3 divisions to attack Wuchow and move further north.

PHILIPPINES

Today we liberate San Marcelino, after some rest huge army will attack Manila.

PACIFIC

KB is almost reach Kwaialein unnoticed.I think that he try to raid from Wake to Kwaialein. If he try that he will be punish severely.
I will gamble. In Kwaiaelin i assembling huge fleet of transports (50+) and set sail for PH.KB will follow behind. That is the bait.If he thinks that i am attacking PH he may try to stop us with carriers, and that will be sudden day for US flattops
If i succeded in this one there will be no chance for him to win this war.We wil see.
Any thoughts?

Why should he? You left PH intact, there will be lots of ready fighter and bomber planes to cover the place - and he'll know that the majority of your battleships is employed elsewhere. And if he has reinforced the place with an additional division by now, he could should be confident to hold PH regardless of what you do. In his stead, I'ld simply wait for you with my carriers covered by LRCAP fighters from PH...

Why? He'll get new ones...

I'm going to side with Kereguelen on this one... this PH gambit you have in mind sounds like the sort of operation one would use against the AI.

GH is definately not the AI... best case I think you can manage will be just wasting alot of fuel.

As early in the war as you are I dont think you need to resort to ruses just yet.

Kerguelen,
He dont know where is my four BBs,he dont know where is several of my divisions.I keep them unnoticed and boarded. With four divisions and support units, with four BBs,8 CA,25 DDs and KB i can invade anything and anywhere.Even PH.

I'm with K too.

The most probable outcome is the loss of lots of your elite pilots, for little gain.
I'd rather aim for less protected targets like Ceylon or Townsville.

Good luck anyway

Hi,

four divisions are not even enough for PH when it was hurt by KB strikes from start on (you'ld need five then). The airfields are still intact, with all the engineer assets present at PH he'll have build forts from day 1 onwards (nothing else for them to do). If a third division has arrived by now, you'ld need at least seven divisions, probably even more (most likely about nine divisions). Four BBs are not enough against the seven (?) US BB's present at PH, they would massacre any landing attempt. But the most important point: Lots of fighters and bombers are at PH, thus you'ld have to protect your carriers which would reduce your ability to protect your own strikes with Zero escorts. And even a B-17 coming through your CAP could completely ruin your day, one 500lb bomb hitting a CV can send it back to the repair yard (I did something like this to one of my PBEM opponents, he wasn't even attacking PH but on the way home with a CV raiding force too close to PH). Not to forget the flak at PH.
Hoepner will know all this...

K

AFTER ACTION REPORT FOR 17-18-19.12.1941

MALAYA

WE are marching south to Kuala Lumpur. Two divisions, four bde.,and supporting units.More units will come for final showdown. As i forseen he will make a first stand north of Johore Baru.Mersing and JB are empty. My plan is,when i reach his lines i will paradrop in JB and Mersing assuming there are empty. If it works his first stand will be the final
Invasion force landing at Kuantan.
Singapore is heavily bombarded and airfield is closed
BURMA

Tavoy is liberated. Now i start to mass bombers, fighters and units there.I will wait for 33th division to make move to Rangoon.

CHINA

HK fell today, troops marchinh north.I will let them rest few days when they reach Wuchow.3 divisions, several art. units and eng. reg. is ready for that push.

BORNEO

Tarakan fell today.I am overcommit invasion force because i need fast victory there. Now those forces will strike Amboina. No damage to oil in Tarakan

PHILLIPINES

Huge army massing in San Marcelino. In next days i will have four divisions there. After troops are assembled there will be 200+ of them. Then i will crush things.Plan is,destroy allied forces in Phillipines ASAP.Then those divisions will be deployed elsewhere

PACIFIC

Invasion force for Rabaul and PM still assembling at Palau. There will be 100+ ships in invasion fleet.Baby KB will provide air support while 1st battleship fleet (4 BBs,4CAs and 10 DDs)will provide sea cover.
KB is still in Kwaeilein unnoticed.
