The war is very interesting in the north now
I need to cover the fast transport run, and 2 nd division into rangoon
Sacrifices have to be made -a force of PGs race north from rangoon.

Bb Hiei strikes a mine entering rangoon -she goes to 19 system damage -she and Kirishima are ordered home for refit/upgrade
1 pt boat engages 3 of his picket PT boats -and is sunk

Most of his LBA concentrates as hoped on the pgs, and 2 are sunk -but the troops are safely getting ashore on his supply lines!
zeros tangle with fulmars over the TF, but protect the ships.

Area1
we lost 2 PGs, 1 pc today, the enemy air is getting stronger -i just cannot convince the naval bombers to fly!
Tomorrow we CAP, LRCAP, as 2nd division unloads.

Area2
Just convoys today

Area3
requested more Sonias dive bombers -they are enroute by ship.
KB is headed towards rennell island

Area4
transports still enroute as we wait to pull out most of the troops, nothing to be gained holding the gilberts now.

All else very quiet.

shuffled the air forces in burma
2 sub attacks today that failed
rangoon clouded in, training flights continue in china
Another pg sunk near akyab

Area1
the road to akyab is cut -for how long?
transports begin flying in supplies to the troops on the road
rangoon needs fuel
we shuffle the air again, 18 kates enroute to help out
the 2nd division begins marching north.

Area2
Soerabaya actually dispatches some supplies!

Little else to report -we await his attack.

At long last the enemy definately moves.
the decision to evac the gilberts might be a wise one. the troops will be needed in the DEI's.
I can lose the gilberts and live
Lose the DEI and its all over quick!

Area1
We move 18 kates to the front -and wait, they go to tavoy
hopefully the enemy will be concentrating on bombing my road block -and leave the kates with a chance to hit shipping i see coming south

the 2 extra divisions are at singapore -we will hold for a couple of days -until the threat in area2 is definately identified as iether manageable or not.

Area2
the enemy lands at tenibar island!
600 plus casos reported while landing, the invasion force appears to be fast transports and destroyers.
ORDERS:
loading 3 fast transports at kendari -the B17 raid today here did no damage.
the fast transports will move towards ambonia -zeros there to cover
21 brigade begins loading at soerabaya
a division begins loading at manilla, 21st, plus 25hq, engineers and art.
paras begin loading at manilla
2 BB task forces sail south from menando

we hold fire on the air forces -lets see what is up!

Area3
KB is off lunga -sliding slowly west

Area4
Quiet
Area5
Little to report -the CVE raid force is almost home
71st div is at 170 squads, 70th is at 199 squads.

China -training continues, he is pushing hard south of wunchow -and i am struggling a bit.

Well, the next turn should be good -tabpub promises many more "1st steps"

2/10/42
the enemy continues during the night to land forces on tenibar island, i watch very carefully.
A sub attacks a AK of Brunie -misses
We clear mines at rangoon, the troops arrive
training flights in china, and the enmy hits my troops south of Akyab
And north of noumea a AK lure of mine is spotted -reported as a MSW and multiple ships.
And he continues to recon timor
South of Wuchow the fighting continues.

Area1
Was pretty quiet today -I am desperately short of fuel here
sweeping mines, and ASW efforts.
will try to sweep akyab tomorrow, rangoon monsoon i think here this month!
the 2 divisions at singapore are ordered to mark time until what happens down south becomes clearer.

Area2
21st mixed brigade is still loading at soerabaya
3 fast transport groups load troops at kendari -probably not enough troops to retake tenibar when it falls, but we will fight for it for a while.
5 BBs are entering the kendari area.
manilla is dispatching another (and last) reserve division
And some streams of extra planes depart china for the theatre.

Area3
KB is refuelling, preparing for a secret mission

Area4
transports start to arrive in the gilberts, I am detirmined to strip them of troops, they will be more use in the DEI area.

Area5
Slowly converting all the small convoys into great big ones -less chance of interception by the subs

China
passed out several sqaudrons from training -no where ready enough for air to air operations -but they will do for CAP down south -releasing the zeros

Overall I must be patient -Tenibar is just a side show -I hope

Tabpub hints that this op is but one in the fire.
Good -let him spread the effort, so i have a chance to crush at least one.

Area1
A sub in the harbour escapes.
A dd of ours hits one of our mines en route to singapore
some hurricanes attacked pagan, the mitchells return to south of Akyab, and the subs get 2 telling blows -2 tankers hit south of singapore

Area2
the action around tenibar heats up
lark force and a base force capture the island -the 1st loss of a base in the pacific
I lost 391 men
3 fast transports creep closer towards tenibar, we will sweep it with zeros tomorrow, also 2 BBs creep in closer
Extra air enroute from china
3 more BBs will sail towards Timor -just too much recon going on there for me
The 2 divs at singapore are allocated to area2

Area3
KBtops right up -and heads for her secret target

Area4
loading troops

area5
Convoys today

This will be delicate tomorrow -expecting some fireworks
the question is -can i fight in range of his darwin air

I expect to have a bit of a battle, then have to pick up the troops.
Hopefully the betties in the area (which have remained doggo ) will get a chance soon.

In real life the back of the imperial air and navy had been brocken by now, Im just starting to fight.
I cannot win the game -but I want to to be than historical.

Area1 (burma)
An AP is sunk by a sub off Vic point
rangoon clouded in, and the whole area is quiet today.
I order a handful of bombers with lots of fighters to attack Akyab

Area2
The action begins with 48 zeros sweeping tenibar island -no opposition, and no ships there iether
A picket AK is sunk by a sub off timor -I am still convinced this is the next objective, 3 BBs are waiting 3 hexes away from the northern end, set to react.
The 3 fast transports are within range, and Mutsu and nagato also are approaching from sorong way of tenibar island
Could be nasty tomorrow.

area3
KB departs on her secret mission

area4
troops depart for davao, 2 naval guard units

Area5
Convoys are quiet, china seems quiet today.

area1
36 oscars and 3 lilly swept akyab today, met by 9 spitfires.
A nasty fight, lost 6 oscars, shot down 3 spits
he bombed south of akyab -again
tomorrow i will try a max effort here -all the fighters i have will escort some helens to akyab

area2
a tense night.
2 fast transports manage to unload there troops with out molestation on tenibar island, 2000 odd men, the 3rd Tf hesitated, and the BBs also hesitated.
tojos and tonies from China arrived, freeing up the zeros from CAP
set some , but only some navy bombers on strike.
i was pleased to get the troops ashore -and the ships away undamaged.
The , one rock at a time resistance begins.

Area3
Little happening, KB unspotted -passes to combined fleet command.

area4
evacs continue -i need 2 more weeks and what i want out, will be out.

area5
Convoys, watching 70,71st divisions grow at the outstanding rate of 1 squad per day

China
BIG TROUBLE !!!!
BIG, BIG TROUBLE!!!!!!
22 units suddenly are about to enter the canton city hex!!!
this is not what i needed -another front calling for help!

painfully I look at my forces, and decide 3 reserve crack zero units in home waters are to go to china -along with 2 very in experienced sally units.
Some artillery departs from manilla for canton

We are now at the super stretched point!

AAAAARGH!

i open the turn with trepidation......
TFs reacting to each other all over the place near tenibar island -but no naval battle develops
we dump more troops over the beaches at tenibar
nagato and Mutsu bombard -283 casos, and 3 port supply hits
But the enemy unloads the darwin defence battalion on the place too

A ASW of Vic point -we actually hit the sub this time!

he attacks pagan in effectively
83 tonies, 32 nate,26 zero,10 oscar escort 20 helens to akyab, 23 spits and 5 hurricanes intercept.
its a viscious battle
Some tonies seem to do alright -the zeros perform well, and a nate even scores a spit.
But overall the spits are pretty deadly
losses
1 zero, 6 nate, 1 oscar, 24 tonys
5 hurricanes and 13 spitfires knocked down
helens get through

Tenibar is hit by 23 B17,26 boston and 12 brewsters!
64 casos only
troops south of akyab hit hard
My ships are attacked by Hudsons as they leave -no hits
11 betties attack -and put 2 torps into the CL Maurituis, no losses!
PT boats spotted tenibar

PM gets a visit -48 liberators, not much damage -and no CAP
The AVG is active at canton
And Canton he attacks -164000 men to my 165000, phew -Ill live here!
A big, big ,big day!!

Area1
flew in reinforcements for the nates, disbanded one tony sq, another will have to withdraw, too many rookies posted in
hopefully he will detect my lull, and try to get some ships into akyab, under the kates noses

Area2
deliberate attack tomorrow -wont work, but Ill give it a shot, he must be terribly dis rupted.
betties line up at kendari -lots of zero escort available too -and other planes are moving to the theatre
Convoys about to arrive kendari -full of troops

area3
started barge runs in PNG

Area4
4th fleet HQ loads for siapan

Area4
Convoys

China
his attack wont get into canton, but the troops here! man oh man!
We attack in the centre! -two can play at this game
Hong kong groans under the wieght of air planes about to fly.

overall the war is now really away.
tenibar is simply a delaying exercise, and good practice
I want to know if i can evac now the troops under his aircover -important info for the battles ahead (never done it before in WITP)

A lot depends on KB now -and nobody knows where she is going now, but shes half way there.

it does sound like you have to shorten the lines a little. The attack on Oz being 'a bridge to far' especially after the ill fortune the game has handed you.

Use your tenacious defence in our UV game as a hallmark - although I don't know how much I recommend the decoy carrier tactic, well not for quite a few months anyway.

HI wobb

yep, the UV defence is the way to go, and Im putting the pieces in place for this, the shortening lines bit is in full swing -all the gilbert troops will come out -if i can get em out in time.

mind you, what i do against you is a different matter!!!

a sub of palembang - misses
another has dud torps on a AK off tokyo
Another sub scores a small ap at sorong

Area1
Well it was a day too long at Pagan -my kates were found there, nearly 70 heavies squashed the place, destroying over half the planes, they have to pull out, the nates got creamed too.
A real defeat there today
Only other news is the Kirishima upgraded in singapore, so that was good.
Still need fuel in rangoon, I suck it up as quick as its made
The medium term plan is this -he will eventually kill the roadblock 2 hexes north of Akyab -as soon as he does -we put another one in 3 hexes north.

Area2
he bombs tenibar island, 26 mediums escorted by brewsters and old dutch demons, not too bad for me
In reply 27 zeros sweeping tenibar shoot down 5 demons with out loss
The attck went in, 3739 to 6054 men, so no go there.
The fast transports are already getting ready to do the evac run
kendari is filling up with men
Hopefully this little op is doing just 2 things -distracting him, and annoying him.

Area3
No news today

Area4
The troop evac operation continues, the troops are headed to davao

Area5
the process of forming big convoys continues
Looked at 70th div -bought at one third strength over 2 months ago, now at two third strength TOE -so getting there

China
the battle for canton has begun
its a stalemate
To show him Im serious -76 zero 7 nate escorted 85 sallies to Wuchow airfield, destroying 11 a/c on the ground
heavy artillery is enroute to canton, plus im scraping up supplies.

I lose a AK on my convoy route near Kuching - will have to watch this closely
I strike Wuchow airfield heavily again, and his ground troops, 80 odd sallies and 50 zeros involved

Over in Burma a strike goes out -24 zero 15 oscar, 18 tony, 15 helen and 3 betties
All for one AK carrying fuel of akyab -only the betties are deadly, 2 hits and sinks it
He has a lot of PT boats at Akyab -probably need some fuel

In retaliation Pagan is repeatably hit by his heavies, 3 more A/C lost on the ground

Little else to report today, no fighting on tenibar

Area1
I will try for another naval strike against akyab

Area2
The fast transport runs are gathering at bulla under a lot of CAP, preparing to run into tenibar to pick up troops

Area3
The solomons again are running low on supplies, they continue to only trickle in

Area4
Quiet, the stripping continues

Area5
The convoys are still flowing, Im not that happy with this, the ASW groups so carefully set up have melted away, iether in big convoys, or slowly being attritted away.
Ce la vie

China
grrrrr
Ive been forced to divert supplies to canton, and the battle there is not the best, I can hold, but at what cost?
A lot of A/C are getting involved now.

Although tabpub might not know it, i think a major war changing moment is approaching.
ASW action of GG -he has subs right along the coast from GG to port moresby, I suspect there is more at work here than mere convoy interception.

training flights in china
thunderstorms all over the place, little action - and FEW SIGHTINGS
A MSW and a AK ARE SPOTTED north of Kuomac - noumea.
KB IS NOT

Area1
thunderstorms close all action down

Area2
soerabaya recieves the 38th division, 5th division
3 fast transport forces are moving into position for tenibar island -it was bombed today by brewster escorted A-20's
More troops arrive kendari

Area3
Quiet

area4
Quiet -some subs of the mariana's

Area5 -convoys continue OK

China
heavy artillery is unloading at canton, we bombard each other.
Tomorrow we try to deal with the AVG gathering at Kwieang, I need air superiority.

KB splits, 6cv,3cvl slide quietly towards their target, while KB2, 2CV1cvl,2cve and a cs move towards theirs.

tension at this end is intense!

ASW actions times2 of PM -I just cannot kill his subs
76 zero sweep Kweiyang -and meet 33AVG and 18 I-16c
I lose 7 zero, shoot down 15 AVG and all the chinese planes
In his E mail tabpub declares the AVG "as finished".
If so the next step can be taken

Over time i have been refining my air game, its becoming one of concentrating as much air as I can in one spot -hit a weaker point -and move on.
It really is a numbers game

KB is spotted -reported as 2 ships speed 7 , so I hold my breathe and hope he misses or mis interprets it
KB2 does its job, ALFs recon Koumac, and the AKs are spotted.
Another glenn recon of noumea -CAP still low, hope this changes big time, I really hope Tabpub is going to be transferring a lot of B17s ect to Noumea this turn -they are the only plane KB fears tomorrow

he bombs tenibar -and meets LRCAP zeros, losing a handful of planes
pagan is hit heavily
30 B17 attack kendari -15 Tony, 15 nate defend
We both lose 3 a/c, a AK is hit
cats over tenibar are intercepted
At canton the new heavy artillery begins to make a difference, as do the supplies flowing in, bombardment losses swing right into my failure

Area1
Thunderstorms predicted -so all orders are for stand downs

Area2
Tomorrow 3 fast transport TFs will pick up the troops at tenibar.
The BBs lurking off Timor will be relieved .
Im actually suspecting that the resistance at tenibar caught him out, and he has no follow up troops assigned.

Area3
Time to reveal KB
KB2 is marking time -actually covering all the tankers that are streamed all the way down south to KB
Tomorrow KB will dash 4 hexes and launch a huge port and naval strike against the shipping in BRISBANE

Area4
All quiet

Area5
No convoys molested today

China
My central army marched the wrong way, its marching back
Big turn tomorrow!!!

Nothing happens during the night
The fast transports pick up the 3000 men at tenibar -and the LCU GHOST BUG -send em to the twilight zone bug strikes -they all disa pear from the map

GAWD
Its hard enough to play as japan without this as well!!!
Does this mean my whole defence idea of resist, drop in units, then pull out has to be abandoned?

The Patch would want to fix this!!!!
I cannot ask for a replay, or go back a turn or too, not in the light of the rest of the turn -so I have to wipe the entire regiment off as lost.

Dawn
Just 9 CAP over brisbane
16 val unable to locate target
21 val unable to locate target
Massive CAP , and I mean mASSIVE over noumea

14 hawk and 14 wirriway strike at KB, 129 zeros shoot the lot down
Pagan is hammered by 4 engine bombers -COME ON KB!!!!

Finally - 33 kate and 26 val -12 kittyhawk
lose 7 kate, 7 val
terrible disapointment, no carriers or major warships in port, just 40 odd transports
the results are very dis apointing, no port attack, just naval attack
2SC
1pg
3ak
1ap all sunk
2nd wave, 76 zero, 18 val attack, shoot down 10 kittyhawk , lose 7 zero, sink one more ak and 1 more ap

So, a very poor result -but i hope the message gets through, Im still feeling aggressive.
KB runs away tomorrow, but tonight 2CA,2CL and 3 DD will attack Brisbane.

Area1
All of the chinese air force arrives today, rest this turn coming, then a huge effort to squash Akyab enemy airforce
Thunderstorms again, so the rest is welcome

Area2
As discussed, pissed that another regiment disapears

Area3
The plan is KB and KB2 will re group, return to rabual -maybe.
Very tempted to fade a bit and return to brisbane in few days, KB2 may play KB going through the timor straight.

Area4
Evacs continuing

Area5
Convoys no attacks today
BB yammato moves again -trying to find a port that actually fixes stuff

Lost 39 planes today, to his 45
Hope I gave him pause.

Im claiming a major victory
tabpub tells me the brisbane raid has disrupted many plans, and delayed future ops - the original plan of KB sailing south, it took a long, long time to penetrate -but success
Today I think a major spanner into the works.
How badly does an AP get from a 8 inch shell?

CA Tone, Chikuama, CL Oi , Cl sendai and 3 dd enter morten bay
Anchored in the bay are lines of Merchant men, the action is rapid
10 AKs are hit -some twice burning, most report 1 hit
3 APs hit -some burning
1 AS is hit
1 AV is hit
1MLE is hit
and a submarine is hit too
then as the ships depart the bay, 80 runway hits , 11 A/C destroyed, 22 base hits, 539 casos

The ships depart, undamaged
there is no counter attack.
If Id kept KB on the attack, but we can't think about ifs.....KB needs fuel real badly
Im pretty pleased, hitting a major rear base in mid OCT 42, in a game being played fairly conservativly feels good.

Area1
he lightly bombs south of akyab -a convoy is going in.
If the weather permits, Im throwing everything I have at Akyab airfield, lets see how it goes

Area2
The GHOST BUG even swallowed the remnant of the regiment.
grrrr
tomorrow a av regiment goes into Timor, covered by LRCAP, and 2 BBs

Area3
KB is trying to fuel tomorrow, then it will crawl home -maybe
Im gathering all the Vals and Kates about the map -to top up KB air groups -I need a base with 20000 points, and for me thats not so easy
I need more supplies and fuel -desperately Im trying to gather them from here and there.

Area4
The evac continues, hate giving up with out a fight, but i am still trying to cover the lack of men I have -try losing 2 and a half divisions, a eng reg and a base force to the ghost, and see how you go.
Cursed emporer and his home guard.

Area5
major change to the convoy routes, he has subs sitting at 2 key points -could be a co incidence, but I feel he may have figured it out

China
We bombard each other in canton

the war continues.

Today I bombed Wuchow -a few resource hits
ss-166 hit by aircraft near Darwin -goes home

And the allies deliberate attacked at canton -and got a blood nose

Area1
Thunderstorms again today, we will try to attack tomorrow Akyab again

Area2
Unloading the aviation regiment at Kupang, covered by 2 BBs

Area3
The major objective is to get KB home, and new planes to the place. A big convoy is a week out, the supplies in rabual will then allow me to fill out some CV squadrons

Area4
is quiet, we are about half way to evacuating all the troops that will be re assigned to davao -the new reserve

Area5
Convoys were unmolested today

China - is a terrible worry
Canton is under pressure still -many units no supplies -despite ship loads unloading, its a frantic attempt to keep up here.
In the North a new, and terribly dangerous offensive is building.

This might seem a strange question -I have 1900 assualt point margin for the muchurian garrison -can I march some divisions from Korea to china?
31 days until ground re inforcements in china arrive.

I am seroiusly worried.

At last some action in burma
36 oscars, 17 zeros, 36 tony escort 27 helen and 21 sally and 9 betty to Akyab
26 spit fires and 13 hurricanes rise in defence

none of the fighters I send could be called crack -all in the low 60's experience, and its a bad affair today
lost 3 zero, 13 oscar, 15 tony, 2 helens, shooting down 12 hurricanes and 13 spits, and destroying 2 vengence on the ground -10 hits

Then 75 zero and 14 sally have a go -13 spits, 2 hurricanes
Lost only 2 zeros -these are the high 80 exp units -shooting down 9 spits and 2 hurricanes

Over at canton I attack heavily with air, and are training about 50 tonies at the moment
he is attacking Chenting in the north -I do not think he will win

Area1
Burma
I have to withdraw the tonies and oscars, the training level just not up to it -so back to china I feel for them
Tomorrow I will continue the attack

Area2
At Kupang sonias and nates move in -to give the impression of force
palembang cracks the 90 oil production figure -thats 90000 supplies spent so far

Area3
A very intensive effort to rotate DDs for refit in home watersis taking place, 5 DDs rotated today.
KB is dodging subs as it wanders its way home

Area4
The gilberts are becoming very quiet as more and more troops pull out -its a race against time I feel -today for the 1st time in ages tabpub suffers a wildcat op loss -so his CVs are now at sea somewhere.

Area5
at home. Im trying to gather something for the kuriles -mainly subs

But it is China that Im very worried -heaps and heaps of troops on the march to the north.

Tabpub states I am running away from Akyab -no, Im just holding
I actually do not believe he is aware of the road block to his north.

A AK is sunk by a sub off Brunie, and a AP carrying a fragment of 51st div to soerabaya is sunk -now will I lose another division to ghosting

Akyab battles continue
108 zero, 83 sallies,42 betties,19 helen attack (the betties were a mistake)
26 spits and 7 hurricanes defend
lost 14 zeros, 1 helen -shot down 17 spits and 8 hurricanes
19 airbase hits, 13 supply hits and 79 runway hits

29 mitchells attack the troops south of akyab, liberators follow

canton is hit again
pagan gets bombed
At Kupang BB mutsu is attacked by B17s - they miss

At canton I count only 9 chinese units, is he pulling out?
But at Chenting he shock attacks -and captures it!!!!!!

Area1
I make a mistake today -withdrawing some A/C instead of disbanding them -what happens to the pilots?
Tomorrow I am going to try a tricky thing -the betties and zeros will go for a Port attack on India -hopefully Akyab will have sucked some fighters south

Area2
the ships withdraw from Kupang -a successful movement for a change
Im feeling happy about any attack in the DEI -3 full divisions and many other units available here

Area3
KB still wandering home

Area4
The evacs still continue
It will be worth it just to have a reserve at davao -my siapan long term reserve pool

Area5
The home front
next turn I am going to turn off all research , stop many a/c production, must rebuild HI up -it is very, very low in the pools -less than 2000 points.
Oil has struggled back to 650000, it was 555000 last month.

China
Is a disaster
South
Canton the war continues -I have far more troops than him -but they are terribly low on supplies, Ive been shipping badly needed supplies all week, but the battle here is a bottomless pit.

Middle
I wanted to attack Changsa -but the troops went south 1st, now I have to cancel this attack -and race north

North
With the defeat at chengsa peking is actually under threat -also at Homma? a bit to the south yet another attack is happening
I am pinned at the south -and have 2 powerful thrusts against me in the north.
Now -Im not sure on the rules here -basically I have not touched the kwautang army -what are the rules about using troops from there? Will they march west, or do I have to spend PPs?
Nevertheless i am marching 3 divisions west.
29 days until peking recieves the 2nd tank army.

Would never believed that the allies could threaten japan with defeat in China -I suck at land combat!!!

intercept
16/10/42
game crashed twice last night, very annoying

Asw off sorong
84 tonies swept akyab at high altitude -18 spits,14 hurricanes defended
I lost 23, he lost 7 spits and 10 hurricanes

then the main attaempt
84 zeros escorted 21 betties to Chadpur -long left to slumber
26 hurricanes,16 mowhawk and 21 p-38!!!

This reveals something -long range bombing is planned soon
I lost 36 zeros -horrors, and 5 betties to flak
Shot down 23 hurricanes, 13 hawks and 5 p 38s

BB Ramilles -1 800 kg bomb - a critical hit!
BB valiant -1 800 kg bomb - a critical hit!

he hits troops south of akyab

heavy bombing canton
timor and baker is reconned

South of Homan 10 corps attacking!!!!

Area1
More sweeps tomorrow, while other planes rest -I will continue this for about a week

Area2
We wait, wait and wait

Area3
cooktown is finally growing -size 2.
I am basing my entire defence in the solomons on my Wobbly model in our UV game

Area4
The evacs continues

Area5
The game crashed twice while truing to fiddle with production -so it stays the same today
worse -second time around forgot to plot KB, KB2, bet I pay for that with a sub attack tomorrow

China
Disaster
troops marching from manchuria -will they help?.
The entire northern front is busted, he retires from canton -my army exhausted here.

tabpub is starting to apply the pressure!!!

34 tojo -exp in low 60's sweep east of Mandalaby -losing 9 to a handful of hurricanes and spits and P 40's
10 enemy downed though.

he attacks Kaifeng, lost 1164 men to my 277

Area1
All planes back onto naval attack -thunderstorms everywhere!

Area2
Troops about to unload at babo

Area3
The great re equip the CV air groups begins -lots of unloading, disbanding ect
I need at least 60 zeros to fill the gaps

Area4
The evacs continue

Area5
Home waters, yammato is still at 26 , hyuga at 15

In China he pushes towards Peking -shame and despair!!!!

tabpub apologises for a boring game -Im not worried -it will explode sure enough

A sub misses near sorong, another sinks a MSW off Port moresby
South of Akyab is hit, my planes again clouded in
Lots of enemy recon
Area1
Bloody thunderstorms- ships untouched at akyab.
I do not believe it a regiment arrives at TAAN -it will be shipped to rangoon ASAP!

Area2
Dispatched a couple of subs to the map edge for a look see
rotating some units -malaria!

Area3
getting there with the CV air groups

All else quiet today.
Reinforcements rushing north.

19/10/42
began training flights out of singapore to sinkep island -Yeah, they work on airfield attack -ground attack would not fly
Chian too dangerous for training, now I can set and forget!

Bostons visit timor
35 B17 encounter 24 zero, 15 tony over Kendari
lost 2 zero -2 ap hit
Shot down 6, damaged 20

more B17s hit Kupang -only nates oppose, lost 4 sonia on the ground, 23 hits

Timor is more and more looking a likely target.

Area1
Ordera ground attack east of Akyab -see if we can catch some out numbered CAP

Area2
Palembang reaches 97 oil
No more troops to be had for this area, so what we have is what we have

Area3
Almost ready with KB

Area4
the gilberts are sooooo quiet

area5
3 new tankers join the fleet -they are immediately dispatched to rabual -here the main AO fleet is very tired -having been in continous action since pearl harbour.
need to rotate many ships

China

Canton swallows more supplies
he turns south and threatens Hsinyang
Kaifeng under threat
Peking under threat

I will not panic -troops from Korea are enroute.

His E mail
You are sleepy, very sleepy........

he pounds south of Akyab today, again and again
We raid east of akyab -no opposition.
Kupang gets a visit -no problems
he shocks west of Kaifeng -6 divs vs 4 of mine
we both lose over a 1000 men

Area1
I need to recon Akyab -the reports are of over 10 units there -this is terrible news -how is he supplying them!?
yes, i have tried LRCAP a few times -no signs of Daks

Area2
the nates leave kupang -some zeros will lie in wait
babo is size 2 now, in range of tenibar island, Im still thinking about trying to take it back -what worries me is the evac if it fails, the ghosting bug worries me terribly.

Area3
KB is in rabual -the whole lot.
Another CVE is coming south
All air groups are full -of my best pilots
The problem is that now I am terribly short of zeros in the solomons - iether i can have them here, or at kendari -but not both.
i will move the kendari air here, I still pin my hopes on smashing one invasion at least, and the solomon islands have lots of betties., and KB

Army fighters will have to do in kendari -China air will have to be stripped

area4
most troops from here are starting to arrive at davao, or siapan or selected points in the solomons

Area5
3 new DDs head south

Chian - im holding, just, but I think i can hold.

106 tonies sweep akyab very high
meet 26 hurricanes and 22 spitfires
lost 23 tonies (so called super plane-not!), shoot down 19 hurricanes and 11 spits

Continue training at Sinkep island
Bombed troops near canton
he bombed me south of Akyab
And 29 Liberators visited Port moresby -opening the air war here

Here are my thoughts on the defence
He will strike multiple points -all at once
A land offensive from Akyab
An invasion of Timor
An invasion of baker island or an island in the gilberts
And probably a invasion in the kuriles

What is the most dangerous?
Timor

So, the plan is this
Immediately he lands the fast transports will deliver troops to timor
the paras will in co ordination with a regiment at kendari, retake tenibar - this to divert his air effort

I have lots of sallies in range -they will be expended, no conservation of them at all.
The Bbs will be used -violently

Burma -
A fighting withdrawal -with a stand just north of rangoon.
I need time to get new troops soon available to here

Gilberts
No reply -let him punch into thin air
But an opportunity to employ KB hitting him where he aint is to be explored

Kuriles
I will just have to live with it. -lots of subs available here

The biggest hope is he will attack in the solomons -if he does KB will be employed here.

Area1
Rangoon to airfield attack Akyab tomorrow -continue the pressure

Area2
I need more fighters -this area is now totally Army responsibility for air ops

Area3
KB moves to truk
Most planes are at truk -no surprise raids are going to catch me on the ground!

Area4
Trying with 2 last convoys enroute to finish evacuating all combat forces here.

Area5
davao is being built as the rear area main base

Tomorrow an audit of all construction troops and fortifications through out the empire

China front is starting to re solidify -will have to make plans to kick him back out.

An ASW action off tokyo - a miss
48 zeros,4 Tony and 53 sallies, 17 helen attack Akyab
26 spits and 15 hurricanes defend -a bloody affair this
lost 16 zeros,4 sally and 2 helen
Shot down 12 hurricanes ,14 spits

Then 83 tony swept -12 spits and 5 hurricanes defended
lost 7 tonies to 9 spits and 5 hurricanes

Im suffering 20% losses in these attacks -several days of fighting and Ive lost several months of production.
What Im trying to achieve is a total kill of a squadron -which means his aces -looking at the combat its only 3 enemy pilots that are killing all my planes -a flt lt O Reid and a Flt lt dovall -14 kills in 2 days
It would be good to kill them, and establish some doubt in tabpubs mind about the situation in Burma
But it better happen soon
Bostons pester timor
pagan is hammered by heavies - P38s escort them
In china kaigan he attacks -1 to 1, thats OK, the reinforcements will arrive soon enough

Area1
The air battle continues
3 purposes - to discourage supplies into Akyab
to bluff tabpub that Im stronger here than he thinks -to keep him at arms length
To kill his pilots
Today all the Tonies go to pagan -on CAP -might catch the P 38s.
(they are low experience I feel - pagan a training run for him

Area2
palembang reaches 100 oil production -I stop repairing that -will turn to resources -build that up a bit and it might build some supplies -and these will be used to fix the oil again.
Do not know if that will work -but Im not shipping in much more -need the supplies at singapore to support the training flights operating out of there

Area3
Im as ready as I would like to be

Area4
Nothing happening

Area5
Is quiet, yammato repaired a point -now 25, wild celebrations at HQ!!!!

China
the reinforcements flow to the North, I hope he has over reached -it will be a close run thing, but Im confident still.

Herb - I understand you are repairing the resource centres to get supply at Palembang without shipping it but you really do need oil. If you look at the locations that produce resources many of the biggest ones are in Japan - not so oil. I'd say keep at it's repair and put up with moving the supplies in rather than wait about the same amount of time before the on location supplies can help with a bit of repair. What is the supply level of Tobali like - can you create a computer controlled shuttle betweent the two?

Hey Wobb
Thanks for the advice - very appreciated
Are you getting any clues from this AAR about what Im doing against you?

Im certaintly using our UV game as the basis for the defence that I will employ when the time comes here - for our game Im going for something completely different.

Area1
In Burma the weather grounds all planes. LCU bombing ordered for tomorrow
Singapore is trying to repair BB hiei -its so slow!!!
I get 6 new AR ships next month -at least some must come here
70 and 71st div -both slowly filling out at taipai now are slated for this front -Ill finally have 5 divs here

Area2
he continues to recon Timor- and the bostons are starting to hurt troops -I try to LRCAP this turn -but find Tojos too short legged.
Tenibar suddenly appears to be empty -will re check with recon

Area3
5 DDs are sent home from rabual for upgrades.
have a lot of ships enroute home for this -mainly DDs

Area4
Continue to move 4th fleet troops -a lot of construction troops are headed to the DEI for more fort building

Area5
Only 1 sub attack today 0these have died right off -so I suspect the subs are massing for 1/ the torp fix, 2/ close interdiction of the invasion areas - I will be looking very closely
Hyuga is still at 13 system -getting there -yammato is at 25

Fatal mistake - was not watching the troop movements from the kawataung army -Ive slipped 50 political points into the red!!!
frantic effort to tell the naughty mongolian troops that are at fualt to turn around

Now what happens?
Does TABPUB notice?
Do the ruskies activate automatically?
OH POO -THIS IS TERRIBLE

China -I HATE CHINA!!!

No I don't get many pointers from you strategically but definately do tactically; although I have already been on the receiving end of alot of that sort of thing since UV days. It is a mercurial thing though and your tactics have changed over time - to the better I might add.

China - heh heh - I think we are both having kittens about China!

By the way - where was my turn! I had withdrawals last night and this morning - considering I set a little surprise up for you...

That's how it is supposed to work, but IIRC there is chance factored in. So you might get lucky, you might not.

Anyway, what's an extra front except more territory to capture?

Good luck -

the mongolians scuttle back across the border -and Im back in the green -TABPUB did not notice and they did not activate.
Russkies will do anything for a few cases of vodka

24 B17s attack kendari at 36600 feet!!!
grrrrrrr
43 liberators strike Port moresby

I firmly believe he's set Nov 1 as D day.

Area1
Thunderstorms
Withdrew some tonies

Area2
Moving fighters about for more training from soerabaya.

Area3
replaced some admirals, troops enroute for kiriwa island, buin is occupied by troops from the gilberts

area4
Only tarwana left to empty
These troops will go to Siapan

Area5
convoys
massive stopping of A/C production and research, my HI is down to 700 points in the pool

China was quiet.
