As matrix have grabbed the talonsoft stuff - what next?

For me.

Sid's Colonization, Jagged alliance 2, great battles, sid's Gettysburg, Wizards crown SSi(?).......ooh i could go on and on[8D]

rhondabrwn -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 5:56:34 AM)

The Great Naval Battles Series.

sol_invictus -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 6:13:39 AM)

Age of Rifles and the V4V/W@W games would be real coups.

V4V/W@W? too many acronyms sometimes[:)]

bradfordkay -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 6:54:08 AM)

Carriers At War

sol_invictus -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 8:30:12 AM)

V for Victory which later changed to World at War. Great WEGO operational games at the battalion/company level except for Stalingrad which was at the regimental level. I guess Combined Arms will fill this niche, but I would still like to see an update to Operation Crusader and Velikiye Luki. Those games bring back such sweet memories of better times.

War in the Pacific - a game that's being left to wither and die by it's current publisher.

ilovestrategy -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 10:30:21 AM)

Age Of Rifles. I have played many a game over the last 20 years but I do love that game.

Hertston -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 11:16:40 AM)

Age of Rifles would be my top choice. Simply, I think, because I would still choose to play it rather than any of the more recent games. I can't honestly say that about the other suggestions, or indeed most of the Talonsoft stuff.

I would be good if they picked up Civil War Generals 3, too. I've no idea how far that got before it was cancelled.

Support/produce/develop the release of Stars: Supernova Genesis.

ravinhood -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 4:30:22 PM)

War of the Lance by Dave Landrey!! Please Please Please!???

Monadman -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 4:45:44 PM)

Give Dean Essig a call (if he’s still alive) and work a deal to produce/support a computer version of all of The Gamer’s Civil War Brigade series games.

Custer1961 -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 7:07:43 PM)

Semper Fi from Stanley Associates--Operational Modern Marine Warfare but the engine has scenario builder and there are even user made scenarios of World War II available on the net.

Flight Commander II-- I still play this one. I do not believe much chance of this being available to Matrix but the addition of helicoptors, better air-to ground modeling, and air- to- ship modeling, as well as, some improvements in the campaign area would make make an amazing game even better.

Or maybe it is just time to stop with revisiting old friends and simply put all the possible resources into a NEW game.

Zakhal -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 8:08:30 PM)

VGA planets or MOO (the recent sequels where horrid). New version of steel panthers would be great too.

Iron Duke -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/8/2006 9:38:45 PM)

Hi

any and all of SSI's old games - reforger 88 , bomb alley , sword of aragon etc etc

Sierra claimed they were in the prototype stage when they decided to can it.

Just reinstalled this myself.

Action Stations! Alan Zimm's naval surface warfare sim from the 80's is still the best at depicting naval warefare from the CIC view.

Ahhh, better times, well, maybe.

That code is so old it would be easier to start over rather than fix it up. Looks like Combined Arms is using the exact same deployment I designed for Amaerica Invades, so you should have pretty much the same game anyway.

How about Avalon Hill's Kingmaker for the PC? Update it to Windows, add in all the optional rules, enhance the AI, and add network play. And do it before Paradox snatches it up and messes with it like they did with Diplomacy.

benpark -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/9/2006 10:36:14 PM)

Matrix should finish what is on it's plate before any desert.

diesel7013 -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/9/2006 11:35:58 PM)

I'd love to see Matrix put together a series of the old C-64 / Apple SSI games ( Carriers at War, Kampfgruppe, the cold war games, ect... ) under a window. Not alot of bells and whistles or even alot of detail, just mabye a bit more realism with better graphics then the old days and sell 'em cheap. ( 15-20 I guess ). That would be nice for beer and pretzles games when we as games don't have an hour or two to play, but maybe 30 min to beat the Rebs at Antetim, Shilo, or whatever...

elcidce -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/9/2006 11:44:19 PM)

Ive heard grumblings that they are working on upgrading Carriers at War. Im not sure if its SSG or Matrix but I was told very little just that it was being worked on.

Oh boy would this be great! I think it would cost too much to get it from what I've read.... sad thing too, such an awesome game. I still play Stars! [:)]

watchtower -> RE: What old games should Matrix snap up next (2/10/2006 9:07:21 PM)

Stars was a great game for it's time - But the one to redo is still Colonization for me[:D]
