If it has an American flag, it can't be a regular PT boat. It doesn't seem to have the midmounted AA or fore or rear mounted heavy machine guns usually on the US ships.

It could be a subchaser I suppose, I can't find any decent images to compare with though...

SWAG - a torpedo recovery boat? It sure doesn't look like it's going to launch that thing.

I've been waiting (in vain) for the answer to this one. Trivia forum has been dead lately [:(]

It looks like a Baglietto torpedo boat used by the Finns (called Taisto class) and Italians (fourth series of 500 class)

Links:
Finnish Taisto (looks almost identical to the picture above)

I dabbled in presenting pics for the community to identify. But the folks that browse these forum are just too sharp for me. I gave up after a dozen or so attempts.

oi_you_nutter -> RE: Obscure Thingy XIV (4/6/2006 9:12:50 PM)

sorry for the delay in the answer

its Italian Torpedo Boat MAS 528 on Lake Ladoga, USSR sometime between June and November of 1942

SemperAugustus -> RE: Obscure Thingy XIV (4/7/2006 6:40:52 AM)

So that would be the Finnish Jymy class, they were built by Baglietto though, so I was half right :)
