Sure looks like where they shot "Officer and a Gentleman", could it be?

It appears that it was indeed where they shot that movie: Fort Worden State Park - 200 Battery Way, Port Townsend, Washington, USA

IMDb Shooting Locations link

Thanks again Nik

Nikademus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/28/2006 3:46:01 PM)

aletoledo -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/28/2006 7:55:41 PM)

great pics! I love when people post these

Curty -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 2:32:17 AM)

I've just checked this place out on GOOGLE EARTH, its quite a big place judjing by the sat image....http://earth.google.com/ to down load free! Once you have GOOGLE EARTH just type in Fort Worden in the search box and it takes you there! Its a brilliant tool for the curious, have fun with it. Gives locations of all u.s. subs and locations of their demise at the hands of japs..also check out Pearl Harbor and many other places of interest.

Nikademus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 4:33:20 PM)

Yes, Worden is pretty big....I think Fort Flaggler (#2 fort in the Triangle of Death) might be even bigger. We couldn't cover all of it during our first day trip.

Terminus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 4:36:27 PM)

What happened to your yellow doggage's nose? The cat?

Speedysteve -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 4:41:16 PM)

Nik's brain probably got confused betwene it and a cat and due to a reflex action punted it in the doggy head

not the cat....the Big black Dog.....he used to be an only child and initially took exception to the Yellow runt of a litter of six (found abandoned in a trash bag on the side of the road by the GF unit) Yellow dog got too close to black dog while he was eating. Scary puppy moment. They're buddies now...old creeky and Yellow dog of Annoyance. (also known as Trash can puppy)

Terminus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 4:48:13 PM)

Aaah, the old Don't-Get-Too-Close-To-Dog-Whilst-Dog-Is-Eating-moment? Been there...

They get it settled quickly - unlike we humans.

Mynok -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 6:43:25 PM)

That's because dogs learn. They don't continue to do the same thing over and over and over expecting different results. [8|]

Nikademus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 6:48:48 PM)

unless trash cans are involved. [;)]

Not all dogs are the same. I swear, I grew up with an afghan hound that was the dumbest (but friendliest) thing to consume oxygen...

Terminus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 8:00:21 PM)

Dogs are generally of less intelligence than cats. They make up for it by also being a lot less evil...

Nikademus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 8:05:12 PM)

my GF's stupid cat is certainly an exception......dumb as a football (but more PUNTable!)

Terminus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 8:09:19 PM)

In my experience, most cats aren't in fact as stupid as they seem; they just enjoy messing with our heads and making us think they're stupid. All the while we think we're safe and secure, whilst they watch us... and wait...

Ron Saueracker -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 8:14:10 PM)

Cats certainly are smart and evil. My cat Neely used to scratch the crap out of my record collection edges, and she would sit next to them and place her paw on them when she wanted something. I'd say "hey...hey...hey"...as she would repeatedly between heys touch the albums. Really amazing behavior. She was pretty peeved when I built a proper glass door shelving unit for them. Evil little bitch.[:D]

Nikademus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 8:17:42 PM)

trust me...this one is dumb as a stone. The only + side is that it makes him much more friendly. never scratches and rarely bites. A rare bite occured too nights ago and the GF unit beat the crap out of him, then PUNTed him. I don't think he'll try that again for some time. (GF unit is quite the disciplanarian when it comes to animals.....one hard stare from her makes the Yellow dog of Annoyance cringe and skulk behind dad)

Terminus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 8:23:44 PM)

The GF Mk I unit, aka "Miss Negative Reinforcement"...

Nikademus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 8:30:29 PM)

She can be a bit hard at times, but no question her animals are extremely well behaved. (though trash can dog keeps thinking he can be sneaky)

anarchyintheuk -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 8:49:49 PM)

Dogs have that mindless optimism thing going for them, which is pretty unique. I'm sure you've heard explanation for the difference between dogs and cats. A dog looks up at this creature who provides him w/ food and shelter and thinks "Wow! It must be a god". A cat looks up at the creature who provides him food and shelter and thinks "Wow! I must be a god".

Wrong thread but, did you take any pictures of the Texas when you were there, Nik?

Mynok -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 9:07:41 PM)

When animal does something over and over despite negative reinforcement, it is simply because the reward outweighs the consequences. Time for more negative reinforcement!

I'm thinking a fertilizer bomb in the trash can would do it?

Nikademus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 9:26:17 PM)

Yes....a ton.

Mynok -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 10:32:23 PM)

Careful...if you put too much in, you might damage the GF Mk I unit, or worse, her den! [X(] [X(] [X(]

GF Mk I units are notoriously difficult to repair (lack of available spare parts) and are ferocious when defending their dens.

Nikademus -> RE: Fort Worden Trip (3/29/2006 11:02:14 PM)

i almost find it kind of funny....nothing like coming out of the bathroom at 4:30am in the morning half asleep....walking into the living room noticing a bunch of wrappers and chewed paper plates......walking into the kitchen for a juice.....walking out...past the wreckage, and pausing as the mind registers at last what it's seeing on the ground.
