ny59giants -> RE: Seige of Karachi (9/3/2006 1:13:58 PM)

Thanks guys for sending me both your future plans. [&o][&o]
I have sent back PM to both (without compromising your plans) and voiced my opinions (over 35 years of wargaming experience, plus 6 years in the US Navy).
It is nice to be a "Monday Morning Admiral (QB)." [:D][:D]

RUPD3658 -> The Assault on Karachi (9/3/2006 7:25:05 PM)

Came within a hair of 1:1 odds at Karachi. Not bad against level 9 forts. The naval bombardment really helped. The fort level was lowered by the engineers

I replaced (shot) a few commanders and will try again.

WhoCares -> RE: The Assault on Karachi (9/4/2006 12:14:28 PM)

I think somebody asked before, but what is the experience of all those ships that bombarded Karachi? Did you just night bombardments or also day time bombardments (requires full speed instead of mission speed, iirc)? Starting somewhere in the low/mid 70ies, I'd expect your BBs and CAs to be well into the 80ies (at night) by now...

RUPD3658 -> RE: The Assault on Karachi (9/4/2006 4:34:12 PM)

Bombardments were done both day and night with all ships set to cruise speed to conserve fuel. Exp is in the high 70s-80s for most ships but the sys damage is in the teens to 20s too. 4 1/2 of constant bombardments will do that. The surface navy is going to spend a few months in the yard when this is done.

Fuel was the biggest problem. I had to send tons of fuel to keep the force supplied and even had to stop a few times due to shortages. Biggest pain was when I disbanded about 200 transports at Chandpur to move troops and almost all the fuel from Bombay move overland to Chandpur![:@]

RUPD3658 -> Karachi Captured! (9/4/2006 7:21:28 PM)

Karachi fell. When I have more time I will write an in depth summery of the Indian campaign.

27 new guns showed up at Chungking. Strange.

After the fall of Karachi if Chunking falls then, GAME OVER!

Given the grinding rate of Allied reponse, Port Moresby might fall by late '43. If ever.

The Japanese player has played a magnificent game.

Even if against a relative wargaming novice.

No offense KD but RUPD58gjs9403672g has more time at the gaming table than you have alive.

Chris,
Where are all your AAR's showing off your "superior" tactical/strategic skills?? [:-]
KD has said that he is not very good in land combat before. Getting beat in India/China in a stock game is not that hard to do. [:D]
I have the honor of both sending me their upcoming plans via PM and KD has sound tactics of what he will be doing. Not too many players play the first time in PBEM and win. Of course, you are the expection. [&o][&o]

Coincidentally these are the ingrediants in the number 1 combination platter at my local Chinese restaruant.[:D]

Went back to the gentle touch (Only 1 Arty unit firing) at Chungking. Higher losses than with the mass assault.

My PT boats at Wake did little more than suck up rounds meant for the island. Even the mines failed to do much. Had the roles been reversed I would have lost several ships.

Up yours pal.

Just making observations.

Why do you have a right to make observations and I don't?

Because you're "Mr. Rogers"?

After 35 years of wargaming experience I have seen a few things. My observations are no less relevant than are yours. I will be starting a game as soon as I finish some practice with the game engine and find an opponent who can accomodate my limited schedule.

What do you know?

Squat!

If you don't insist on too many turns per week maybe I'll take on your pathetic @ss.
