Uploaded MainData V3 to FBMAX.

Changed the draft player attribute ranges to a 50-85 scale.

After some earlier changes and testing this might be my best verison so far. So far in my testing, this seems to have helped cut down on excessive scrambling; the reason is a good number of QB's had passer pocket ratings below 50; in this version the average rating has been bumped up to 75; so there should be more Qb's staying in the pocket looking to throw.

a footnote,

the average scarmbling rating now is around 70, not 75. In general, the average rating for all the attributes is around 70-75. This is a different then the default ratings that came with the game, but not much. Where I think you'll see a difference is the speed of lineman, running backs and linebacker, amongst others. I think the passing, running, and defensive play in general should be improved.

Works very good....My first possession with coach mode was 7-11 included a TD...37yds.Thanks, were on our way to a great game.

i think that this helps balance out the passing game (short vs long passes),etc.
so far from what i've seen, the "feel" of the gameplay and stats are starting to look good

MainDataV4 is posted on FBMax.
Made some minor adjustments to player attributes for the draft and adjusted fg/xp.

this version cuts down on the duplicate jersey numbers, but i can't eliminate that problem. that's going to be a Dave thing. All I did was made a change to not create over 10 players per position; for example, if you create 11 linebackers, well, numbers 50-59 are used up then the program goes and assigns a duplicate number in some cases; i.e. two 59's,etc. also, defensive lineman usually get numbers assigned in the 10's, 20's...again, that's for Dave.

i'm going to continue to work on the default playbooks and creating profiles for them, in conjuction with this maindata file.

The game should be sorting out any duplicate player numbers prior to a game. You shouldn't have two (or more) players on the field with the same number. Duplicate numbers prior to training camp is a distinct possiblity though.

Also, be careful with lowering the number of players created. If the draft routines can't find a player to fill a specific position, it will hang. That is why I make more players than is required.

Hey David, just curious if this would cause a problem with leagues that don't use a Draft. I'm working on an Arena/Indoor Football Mode and I don't plan to use a Draft. Just Random Player Rosters and Free Agency.

Right now there is no way to skip the draft. You can't progress to the first game of the season, or even past training camp, unless you process a draft. And yes, if you don't have enough players in the pool for the draft process to work with, it will cause problems for it. This is why I over populate the player pool.

This assumes you're not using some 3rd party tool to edit the database and skip those areas.

thx for the reply. i only noticed the duplicate numbers before training game; i haven't looked beyond that.
i'm not deleting any players, all i did was add players, for example, i added players 21-40 (with a 20 pre-training camp roster); after i added those to the database i changed say, a wr to a db; ... didn't delete just added and changed.
i'm not one to delete anything without knowing exactly what it impacts anyway; i've programmed enough other stuff to be cautious. [:)]
great game. can we talk you into Maximum Basketball?[:)]

Have not posted in a while. David and Matrix, great work on the latest official release. This will be a KILLER game if you guys keep at it. I agree with the Maximum Basketball. I hope that MAXFB will be successfull enough that David will be able to hire a staff that can keep enhancing MAXFB and branch out into other games.

Maximum Lacrosse would be nice, I've just becaome more of a fan of this sport. I would like to play College and MLL type lacrosse if David ever does plan to make a game of the sport.

Rugby probably would be easy to convert over, i think. Rugby's not too mass media advertised but i've been getting into it lately.
Excuse the plug here, but i found this game Rugby Manager 2005. it's a fun game as well. the sound track on it is pretty good.
seriously though about Basketball, i think the open concept is a perfect fit for Basketball, and i think the market for this type of Basketball game would be really good. I think it would sell big time. Just like Maximum Football fills a void, you could do that for Baseball, Basketball, Lacrosse, Hockey (yes..:o), even soccer and maybe even Rugby.
The open concept is hot.[8D]

I'm surprised Lacrosse not more popular. It has a lot going for it. It's the oldest sport in North America. It was taken to Europe in the 1400's. And originally, instead of hard rubber or wooden balls, the heads of tribal enemies were used. I mean seriously, there's got to be the makings of a video game in there someplace :)

Hey David, actually the MLL is starting to grow fairly popular. I heard they are expanding a few more teams out west (like Denver, Dallas, and Chicago) so I think Lacrosse might be not be nearly as popular as the other "Big Four" sports, but I think over time it will get more popular to a certain degree. I heard Lacrosse is much more popular in Canada then it is here in the US.

I like the idea of Maximum Basketball aswell. But I'm not a huge NBA fan, I like College Basketball and NBDL more then NBA. I don't see why Baskeball couldn't be included, there are a few leagues out there with slight variations of rules. I remember hearing that the Minor League ABA uses a unique system of rules much different then standard Basketball. Like if you steal the ball in the Backcourt (when a team tries to bring it over the center line) the team that steals the ball can score 3 points if they make the first shot (its something like that I guess). I wouldn't mind Hockey too, but I've grown kinda tired of NHL Hockey and Prefer the Amature/College and International rules anymore. Baseball might be tough, I don't know if there are a lot of leagues out there that have a wide range of rules differences compared to MLB.

Magnum are you referring to the NLL? Or is there another league?

The NLL has a team in Denver already and is getting a team in Chicago next year. Almost all the players are Canadian but most of the teams are in the US.

No, the league I'm referring to is the MLL (Major League Lacrosse). It is strictly an Outdoor lacrosse league based in the United States. Here is the league's link.

I have heard of the NLL, but I'm not a big fan of it. There style of play just reminds me of Hockey and I would just watch Hockey if I want that. MLL is suppose to a new Outdoor Professsional League that started a few years ago in the Northeast. It doesn't have near the fan support of the other Big Four (Hockey, Football, Baseball, Basketball) but the MLL is getting to the point of popularity as the MLS (Major League Soccor). I like a lot of the rules that MLL uses because they are very similar to the College game (College Lacrosse is starting to become much more popular in the East now in recent years). And the MLL has a few additional rules that make it unique even too the College game. I don't know all the additional rules, but I do know that the MLL uses a "2pt Goal line" if a Player scores a goal beyond this point, his team gets 2 points. I think its something like 10 to 15 yards away from the goal I guess. Theres a few other rules that they have that are different then College, but I can't remember what they are.

MLL reminds me more of a unique sport compared to the NLL. NLL just reminds me of Hockey in the Air basically.

OK I wasn't sure. I don't know much about lacrosse myself, though I wish I did because it looks interesting. It'd be nice if one of those leagues could get a TV deal.

I do read about the NLL in the newspaper because I live in western New York and the NLL has a team in Buffalo. They have quite the following - they practically fill the arena.

The MLL actually does have a TV deal. ESPN2 airs a lot of there games. Just go to there website and see there TV schedule.

use version 6 instead of all the previous versions. when creating a new league from within the game, not using the external utilities, across all stat categories, this one produces the best stats compared to the earlier versions; this may be the last one for awhile. any further tweaking will be more focused on the playbooks/plays.
this file has only been tested creating a new league/draft from within the game; and for only the initial season. if anyone uses this and goes beyond the first season please let me know if there are any problems with it. this may be only a temporary fix/help until the next patch is put out by David/Matrix.
