Hundreds of sorties are launched from the Jap carriers against the TF carrying Australian Engineers for Mindoro. The suffer heavily due to the Allied CAP. I am pretty sure San Jose is going to get hit with a naval bombardment tonight so the engineers will have to hide in a rain squall for a day while the Cucarachas de la Mer defend San Jose. As it is now, anything coming from the Pacific has to circumnavigate the Australian continent, which is WAAAAAY too big on the M&M Enterprises maps. Port Moresby and Thursday Island are in Jap hands..not to mention Timor. Wasp could provide top cover throught the Torres Straight and for the run from Aru Island to Jolo or Mindanao, which is still subject to Betty raids from Sulawese. This is all the consequence of advancing on a very narrow salient. My rear areas are not completely secure. It has been worth it in terms of capturing Jolo, and now Cagayan and Mindoro before the Japs coudl build up. Also, Wasp could operate with the RN carriers, which will be headed to the center of the action when they upgrade to Corsairs (about half way there).

Is there a chance we can have some kind of all-encompassing sitrep at some point? For instance, I have very little idea about what's going on in the SOPAC and CENTPAC theaters.

I like it, but I believe that proper Espanol grammar would be, "las cucarachas del mar." As in, "Where (the vermin and) the turf meets the surf!" In an AI game I once had a scratch force of 12 PT refugees hiding out in Davao City in early 1942. An IJN carrier task force came west out of Truk, and rounded the PI one hex to the south of Davao that night; my "cucarachas" put 4 torps into Shokaku and my prospects brightened substantially! In narrow waters "las cucarachas" are deadly!

Recons go out every day to various scenic locales in the area to see what our little brothers are up to; it's not much evidently. There's evidently a LOT of assets tied up in the prison island formerly known as French Noumea; which is guarded by the air and naval assets in the Caledonian Islands. 4 (or is it 5) carriers and their escorts reside there behind their anti sub nets. In the Savo Sound, under the cover of the air base rests a surface battle group of 3 old BB's and 2 divisions of DD's; sweeps and DM's scurry about doing their thing amongst the islands of the area. Marine Raiders have occupied and left the Russels, then moved on to Munda point; some AK's carrying a CB batt were weakly attacked from Rabaul Betties, but were able to disgorge their cargo and get home to Lunga with one 1/4 damaged. A BF recently arrived in Lunga will move there soon and operations will begin from there. The next installment of the ladder will be arriving in a week's time I reckon; it's goal is....oh, can't talk about that...but you can guess I suppose. Supplies are sufficient at all these bases, but more have to come in over the next month or two to sustain these plans. There are 3 million tons of bunker fuel in the Hawaiians, but only 20 TK planned to move it; more have yet to arrive. The real crunch is freighters; too many have piled up in the forward area, they are being re-allocated over the next few days (I just can't do it all in one sitting...it drives me nuts...I can't believe that I did the whole war in my '45 game that is nearing it's end versus Herbie). When I have sorted out the freighter situation better, the pace here will pick up; not that it will ever resemble Mandrake's March to Glory...he's the Great Improviser...I, the Planner..... All major units of the Fleet report ready other than IDAHO, which is down to 1/3 damaged after being towed into SF's Mare Island repair yard after the heroic battles off Midway to retake it from the Empire. Sub patrols are scoring the occasional hit, though not as many contacts as I would like. Cuttlefish is a cagy sea creature and we are still trying to assess his shipping patterns. I think he changes them back and forth from 2 routines; I am just getting enough assets in place to cover both now. Hope to see the scores rise soon; some are currently busy trying to help the SWPac forces by covering the approaches to their area; the torpedoing of MUTSU was one of these subs off Northern Luzon.

So here is the deal. Monday, my Mayan housekeeper called, she couldn't work. No problema. That's what I thought. It seems, however, as is often the case, I forgot to consider logistics. Here it is Friday and I am pretty much out of underwear. I am down to a pair of skivies with Santa Claus and his reindeer drinking egg nog. I am resigned to drive extra careful today lest I get into an auto accident. Here are some solutions I have considered: 1) Read the instruction manual for the washing machine. 2) Go commando 3) Buy some new chones. I am leaning strongly toward option 3. Does anyone know a good underwear store?

You gather the used briefs up, then drive over to the local Laundromat; look helpless, and then let the nearest SoCal blonde hottie assist you with the vexing task of placing quarters into the machines to buy detergent and start the washer/dryer. And then you get her phone #.....an old Med School technique! But wait! [:-] Perhaps I am wrong! [X(] Naaah! [:@] Stalker Girl would kill you! Oh well, maybe she could show you how the washer works? Behind them, on the Kansas prarie, are no less than 4 10,000 ft concrete runways along with paved taxiways, hardened reventments, a fire station, a massive fuel depot, a dozen pristine fueling trucks and row after row of 300 yard long warehouses. What is lacking is the sound of mechanical or human activity. The cicadids are out and a half dozen species of frog can be heard at a nearby vernal pool. Joe: Willie, do ya think the Japs will ever come here? Think how valuable this place would be to 'em. Willie: Nah. I don't think they have it in 'em any more. Joe: Maybe, but I bet this place is worth 10,000 or 15,000 points. Willie: 10,000? Are you crazy? Hell, Frisco can't be more than 2 or 3 thousand and look at all the stuff there. I set the size to large, filled up the tank, tossed in about 20 pair. I didn't have any laundry detergent or softener like you said so I just put in about 2 cups of liquid dish soap. It smelled good. I figure that should take care of it. Thanks man! If this works out maybe I can let the houskeeper go. She would be disappointed but at least my brandy bottles would last longer.
