I have an unfortunate habit of leaving older players in my lineups too long for sentimental reasons. It happened in this league too. Keith O'Toole hit a brick wall at the age of 38. His ratings were still good, But he wasn't getting it done. Unfortunately, he had 262 HRs. I wanted to get him to 300 before I sat him, but last season he hit .246 with 28 HRs. I let him stay in until he could get those 10, which ended up taking half of the next season. He finally got his 300th and I sat him down to call up the young guy that had been tearing up the minors for the past two years. From his performance, I really should have called him up earlier. How's this for a first couple of games in the majors?

Hey, My San Diego Surf Dawgs have these two awesome middle relievers you might be interested in... [;)]

hehe...this dynasty just might be the first time I've ever actually had a glut of quality relievers. Usually I'm struggling to find them. It's making it kind of hard not to use that AI flaw to trade some of them. :)

Hey SpharV2 how's this guy doing now?

He cooled off considerably after that start. I believe I called him up right after the All Star break. He ended up hitting .337 with 15 HRs 37 RBIs. He's begun this season struggling quite badly, but is improving a lot. I'm in mid July now and he's sitting at .261 with 8 HRs and 26 RBIs, but he's really been picking it up lately.

April - .224 1 HR
May - .259 3 HR
June - .273 0 HR
July - .375 4 HR

Maybe he's just a second half guy. It doesn't matter since his poor start was more than made up for by two rookies that came up this season.

1B Brian Ellerbee - .291, 21 HRs, 67 RBIs, 14 SB, .997 fielding %
SS Donald Hornsby - .296, 10 HRs, 48 RBIs, 5 SB, .986 fielding %

I really needed rookies to step up this year since I ran hard up against the salary cap this past offseason. Since I wanted to keep my pitching staff together, I ended up losing 2/3 of my outfield, my starting C, 1B, and SS. Those guys combined for 119 HRs and 468 RBIs last season. So far this year I'm sitting 1st in runs against, and 7th in runs for. I'm trying really hard to keep close to the lead, and it doesn't help that my closer who's had 3 straight 50+ save seasons is down for at least another 2-3 months. It's been an interesting year.
