If you have not seen this sight you might want to check it out.

http://www.navweaps.com/

It is extremely informative.  Has a page that lists the Order of battle for ALOT of surface engagements.  From the Russo-Japanese war to the Falklands in '82.  That would be for the scenerio makers.  Also has a page with gun data, including ranges, armor penetration, mounts, and mount weights.  Good site check it out, has some modern stuff on it also.  I found the Order of Battle pages very interesting.

One question in regards to W.W.II battles.  Does the game have any problems with the number of sea and air platforms that took part in some engagements, some of which were HUGE by the standards of the day let alone today.  I do not have a maasive computer and the last time I launched a volley of 61 TLAMS from various platforms at a number of different targets I was able to go cook dinner since they were flying at a little less than real time.

I have a very slow computer. 1.6gHz and 384mB RAM. I am able to play even the Monster-sized scens that have hundreds of missiles in flight. However, sometimes, it is 35 seconds of real time for 1 second of game time. [:(]

I'm sure that the bigger / newer computers can much more easily handle the computations. Some folks have tried my 5mB Axis of Evil for PlayersDB scen and found it a bit slow, but still functional. It is the largest H3 scenario ever built. [8D]

Well I took a look at the WWII DB 1945 and was throughly impressed. The amount of detail was fanatstic. To be honest I spent more time 'looking' through the DB than actually playing. I just could not help myself. A fantatsic job!

I wonder how long it will be before we can see what could have happened at Jutland?

I beleive that Mike Deegan's AOS Database has most or all of the units needed to do a Jutland battle. AOS is available at our WW2 Yahoo group too. You may want to write Mike and see what he has going on in AOS. Alot of WW1 stuff in there.

Will take a look when I get the time. Thanks!

If any of you guys are not already at the HQ or the WW2 Yahoo group sign up!

We have a new scenario "GIUK1940" available. Royal Navy escorts against German U-boats in October 1940. Check it out.

We are in full scenario mode right now, constructing a number of scenarios. Stay close! These will be appearing over the next weeks.

Newest Database Version DB1945V3.7.1

I will have this version up at the HQWW2 yahoo group on 1/4/2007 with the scenario. It's done, just polishing up and last minute unit entries. I'll report in.

If you are running H3 or H3 ANW and spend time there, make sure you take advantage of all the available user databases for the game. There are alot of great scenarios, in a number of really good databases, that are at your disposal. Pick your period. This range of databases also offers more flexibility when writing your own scenarios.

DB1945V3.7.1 has new units and a new scenario "Heavy Danzig", which is a look at the air war over Poland in September 1939. We hope to have even more WW2 scenarios soon.
AOS or the Age of Steel is also available with scenarios, another great WW2 database and more! Check it out.

Go to the Harpoon HQ for more Harpoon, and other user databases, or join our WW2 yahoo group at the following LZ:

I can't seem to open the yahoogroups page. Any other way to get the scenarios?

JRyan -> RE: DB1945 A World War Two Database for H3 (1/29/2007 12:48:58 PM)

Thank You VonTommer
for working on this one, it will be fun to actually play them (WWII Scens). I am not sure which one I played as it was back in H2AE days but the scen was kind of fun. Thats what makes Harpoon so awesome, folks with different interests can do different things with the same program.

VonTommer,

I can't find your WW2 database on the Harpoon HQ site. Is there anywhere other than the Yahoo user group that hosts the database?

Best wishes,

Flankerk -> RE: DB1945 A World War Two Database for H3 (3/18/2007 12:16:32 AM)

The WW2 db should be here:-

shunwick -> RE: DB1945 A World War Two Database for H3 (3/18/2007 12:55:46 AM)

Flankerk,

Thanks. I understood that there was a version for ANW but it doesn't seem to be available. Is the 3.6 version ok with 3.8?

Best wishes,

Flankerk -> RE: DB1945 A World War Two Database for H3 (3/18/2007 2:37:30 PM)

So far I don't think there are any databases solely designed to work with 3.8.
However the editors have recently become available so increasingly those will become compliant. Databases specific to 3.8 will be released on Harpoon HQ as they become available.

The 3.6 specified one's work more or less, and most scenarios are certainly playable in 3.8. One major change will be the addition of seekers to virtually all missiles. However in general thats not going to hit the WW2 database as much.

shunwick -> RE: DB1945 A World War Two Database for H3 (3/18/2007 5:36:10 PM)

Flankerk,

Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Best wishes,

VonTommer -> RE: DB1945 A World War Two Database for H3 (3/24/2007 9:35:03 AM)

Hi Steve and all!

Right now the HQ and the Yahoo group are the only two places to get the DB files for the WW2 database. Not sure if the HQ has the most updated version right now but will check. (DB1945v3.7.1)

Not quite up to speed with the new 3.8 patch yet but working on it. Check in here, at the HQ or at the yahoo group from time to time for the latest updates. You can also write me anytime with questions or just post here as you did. We will always get back to you as we can.

Tom

VonTommer -> RE: DB1945 A World War Two Database for H3 (3/27/2007 3:31:07 AM)

We are currently upgrading DB1945 for full deployment in ANW V3.8! We are a little slow over here!

We will keep you posted and look for DB1945V3.8.0 within a couple weeks.

Any questions or comments can be sent to me personally by P.M. or just post here or at the HQ forum. (Harpoonhq.com)

Smooth sailing shipmates!

Tom

VonTommer -> DB1945V3.7.1 Available (4/17/2007 10:07:25 AM)

The latest version of the WW2 database is now available on the 1937-1949 page at the Harpoon Headquarters. The last difinitive version that still works best in H3 3.6.2, H3 3.6.3 and ANW 3.7.0. We are currently developing an expanded and upgraded version for H3 ANW 3.8.0. Check it out and certainly update if you have an older DB version.
