As the header indicates, i am looking for a Good, Fun and Historicalish Game against any willing son of the rising sun.

I have little experience of this game but I find little joy in spending anymore time against the AI. Better
learning the hard way, me thinks.

On the positive side you don't need to, and should not, utilise every gamey tactic in the book to whack me up.
Alas, let's keep it real.

Ok, down to the suggested terms

Scen 15 (stock, v1.804)

Sub Doctrines = off
FOW = on
Allied damage control = on
Hist 1 turn = dont care
PDU = on
Vary Setup = off
Dec 7 suprise = on
Reinforments = dont care
Auto sub ops = off
Expand at start = off
Automatic upgrades = off
Accept replacements = off
Turn cycle = 1

Some house rules, which i've found reasonable, and copied from others =)

1. Allies cannot move any planes on turn 1
2. Allies cannot form any new TF on turn 1
3. No more than 6 ships in a ASW TF
4. LCU's belonging to the Kwangtung command may not leave Manchuria unless PP's are spent to change their command.
5. LCU's belonging to China Command may not leave China or Manchuria, unless they change command.
6. No cutting off retreat paths with a fragment, use a whole COMBAT unit.
7. No breakdown of LCU's in combat to reduce fatigue and disruption.
8. All first turn landings need to be in range of long range cap of Jap fighters, for example: Java, Sumatra, Timor,
Sulawesi is NOT OK, Filipines, Borneo etc. OK. Think realistic and we'll all be happy
9. Karachi has a safe zone of 3 hexes, no jap land units allowed within that
10. No Allied 4 engined bombers allowed on Naval Attack below 10000 ft

I might write AAR.

I may be (very) slow during weekdays (i need to work hard and long to get money to keep gf satisfied so i can play =))
but on the otherhand i can do many turns during weekends, thus it might be a good idea if you live in Europe for quick exchange during these days.

I'm intrested in a game - I'll PM you my e-mail address - the earliest I would be able to get you a turn would be some time tomorrow afternoon (Sweden Time) and will be able to do at least 1 turn a day, with a few extra on the weekends, for a total of at least 10 turns a week, but I realise you may not have as much free time as I do so fewer turns per week are OK. I have never played the Japanese beyond messing around (a little) with the first turn. So I think we would be evenly matched - I do hope I give you a better game than the AI would [:D] and like the AI I will stick it out to the very bitter end. You're going to have to nuke me to get me to surrender!

BTW I do not believe in 'gamey' play. I try to play in as a realistic way as possible. Some examples would be no unescorted or poorly supported invasions just because I know the Allies are weak early game or if I invade the Territory of Hawaii [;)], it won't be on the first turn (or 1st week) and it would be properly (massively) supported.

I agree with your scenario and the game prefrences. I perfer Historical 1st Turn = Off & Reinforcements = Fixed. But what about Advanced Weather Effects? On or off? I could go either way.

I like you house rules:

7 - Agreed its gamey (a bug), I would also include using any other bug exploits (and that we both agree on) that we may not be aware of yet.
8 - Fine by me - I plan on using Mogami's rules as my guide.
9 - Fine by me.
10 - If it is OK with you I will not complain. I will allow you to do Naval Search & ASW missions by 4 engined bombers (with the exception of the B-29) below 10,000 feet. I'm willing to exempt the USN PB4Y Patrol Bomber squadrons from this rule.

Two rules I would like to add if you agree:

11 - Night Bombing:
Generaly I would like to restrict this to City Attack - Manpower and Air Mining only with the exception of those air units that use dedicated night capable aircraft. Example - Night Fighters doing any type of night attacks would be OK. There are no restrictions (except the games experance checks) on night naval attacks. I would also like to be able to do limited night attacks using (small units of) float planes & float fighters á la Washing Machine Charlie.

12 - PT Boats:
Because of the way air and ship combat works reguarding PT Boats I feel they should be restricted to not mixing of PT Boats with oth ships in a combat TF. The exception would be a transport TF when transfering PT Boats to a new base beyound there range.

There is also the issue of Über-Cap. How do you want to address this? One way would be to play one of the Mods (Nik Mod 8.0b or BigB's mod work with the standard WitP - so no special files have to be installed) which were crated to alleviate this problem or we could use a house rule.

Hi tanjman,

Your suggestions seems completely reasonable, and lets keep Weather Effects ON.

Concerning uberCAP, i dont mind trying out the Big B's mod with or without extended map if that corrects the problem, i will not have 90% anyway.
You decide.

So you can tell your men to have a last sip of sake for a long time (since there will be none in the PoW camps [;)]), kiss their wife and kids goodbye and get ready for war.
