Ron Saueracker -> Need some assistance... (11/23/2006 4:58:10 AM)

Hi guys. Anyone have access to old wargames or texts which list the max launch/landing rates per hour of the CVs in the game? AHs Flat top has them I believe. Jim Dunnigan's Victory at Sea book has a listing for sure. If anyone has this can you post the table? My copy is in storage.

Thanks

Ron

Knavey -> RE: Need some assistance... (11/23/2006 6:09:51 AM)

Ron,

I have Flattop.  I have a card with Max Capacity, Launch Factor and Ready Factor.

Is that what you are looking for?

Ron Saueracker -> RE: Need some assistance... (11/23/2006 9:48:48 AM)

Yep. [&o] But anyone who has Dunnigan's VIP tables is really desired.

Thanks again,

Ron

Try these on for size now that the scanner is working.

Thanks Dave.[&o]

Now to remember what the factors mean. Been a long time. Basically I'm trying to get a handle on hourly aircraft launch/landing capacities of each CV.

AU Tiger_MatrixForum -> RE: Need some assistance... (11/26/2006 6:43:23 AM)

Does THAT bring back memories!

m10bob -> RE: Need some assistance... (11/26/2006 7:00:57 AM)

BIIIIIIG yellow map as I recall.

To counter the cat, some company made these little magnetic clips to hold the counters, and then you just mounted your "monster game O the Year" onto a sheet of metal and hung the thing on a wall....
Worked wonders.....
Got some of Dunnigans' works, but not that one.

Maybe Matrix should look into marketing some of those wargamers books???????[:)]

Uh huh. I remember a very memorable battle with a g/f who had a problem with it being left out on the kitchen table for days. Good thing I got rid of her!

WHat in particular are you looking for in VAS?

There is a chapter which deals with aircraft carrier efficiency and tables which indicate the various capabilities of all CVs built. I'd like the table with the CV efficiency data. I have the book as well but it has been shipped and I can't access it as a result.

m10bob -> RE: Need some assistance... (11/26/2006 8:24:07 PM)

I google searched for "Jin Dunnigan carrier tables"

Ray "Skyros" has Victory at Sea by Dunnigan, we just have to find the table that I'm looking for...proving elusive so far.

irrelevant, Halsey, Halsey's Chief of Staff, and SPI's Wacht am Rhein in counter-clips, circa 1986. We had thousands of the things. Played WitP that way too; no good pix, though.

Apologies to Ron for the hi-jackage; back to you, big guy!

Now that is both hard core and ideal!

You actually *played* CNA? I didn't even know that was possible! (Never had it myself; I stuck to the "simple" games like WitP, Witw/wite/wie, HTTR...)

Ron Saueracker -> RE: Need some assistance... (11/27/2006 10:27:37 AM)

"Death before disco"........[:D]

Halsey -> RE: Need some assistance... (11/28/2006 5:57:11 AM)

Disco still sux!!![:D]
Time hasn't improved that music at all.[:D]

We also played Atlantic Wall, twice!
That game was more manageable.[;)]

CNA twice, one win for each of us.
Still have most of the magnetic clips, somewhere.[&:]

Wellington's Victory, hmm 3 times.
Lost all of them. One was against Dick Sauer.
Never won at Borodino, till Talonsoft put it out as a computer game.[:'(]

Halsey -> RE: Need some assistance... (11/28/2006 6:00:26 AM)

Played BattleTech for some years too.
Bought all our mechs at Jerry's.
Over 500 of the miniatures.
We played regimental actions.[;)]

Defensive line formed up nicely against the Eighth Army.[;)]

Oh, those were the days! I never thought to take pictures though, dang it!

I wish I had taken pictures of some of the ASL battles my brother, kbad, and I used to play circa 1980...about 15 map-boards, and battles at the brigade/regimental level.[sm=00000436.gif]

Are you still looking for the table? Is it the Carrier Avgas Stock per Airplane? In my book it is on pages 86-87 in Chapter 2 "The Ships". It lists the number of sorties per aircraft. This is based on the amount of Avgas on board at a rate of 300 gallons per mission.

We used geohex terrain.
Still have it.[;)]

BattleTech was the only SciFi wargaming that seemed realistic.[:D]
