This is (at least for me) an undocumented feature... You can have one of your stacks pursue/chase a hostile unit! Simply give it a march command to "join" with the hostile force (just as you would with a friendly stack) and, I believe, your stack will attempt to "join" with the hostile force, no matter where it goes that turn.

Right. This must has been added in the extended manual I believe (but was there in BOA since 1.00, in feb 2006).
