RUPD3658 -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 6:27:04 AM)

Download 2 days after it came out. Except for being shelved for a few weeks for SPWAW I have played non stop ever since.

Mynok -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 6:27:10 AM)

I played UV since the day it came out then switched to WiTP. It's not the only game I play, but it's been on my HD since it came out. Been through a computer swap and a couple job changes.

I even played PacWar some though it was the Matrix release, not the original. I'm not the student of the Pacific War that most here are. I've always been a bigger fan of the European theatre, with an emphasis on German armor and aircraft.

But I've yet to find a game that so captivates me like Witp.

I think dtravel is somehow ashamed of all the time he's spent on this poor, buggy game...[8|][:D][:'(]

I invoke my human right to irrationality.

I did erase it from my computer for a time. As for when I got it, look at my reg date. (That is when the first patch came out, isn't it?)

Thanks for the info-never learned the Navy Way.

Crimguy -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 8:12:38 AM)

Had to check in on this.  Bought it when released, within a week or two.  It has never left my hard drive, but I've put it down numerous times because of bugs, life, etc.  I've tried my hand at pbem, but frankly it goes a bit too slow for me that way.  I wish the AI were a bit better in solitaire, but its still fascinating.  I'm playing out a scenario I started a year ago.  Trying to invade Japan from Alaska.  Not very sound, obviously, but it's providing an interesting challenge.

apbarog -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 9:26:10 AM)

Purchased at Origins and have been playing since. Good to see you again Titanwarrior89. Our game which lasted until near the end of 1943 is still my longest PBEM. My current PBEM is in January 1943. I think that the only thing that will end my playing of the game is when I'm forced to run an operating system that it won't run on. Hopefully a long time from now...

bradfordkay -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 10:22:41 AM)

I've been thinking of stockpiling computer parts to keep a WITP compatible system going as long as I do...

I did buy a laptop so that I could take WITP on the road. [8|]

Helpless -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 11:34:28 AM)

Had all versions 1.00-1.806 on my machine(s) from 1-Jul-04.. and some gaming in between.. [:)]

Apollo11 -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 12:11:17 PM)

Hi all,

I am UV veteran and I bought WitP when it come out...

Miller -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 1:20:37 PM)

Picked up UV for a few quid off e-bay and found this forum. Bought WITP soon after but took me about 6 months to get into it (was put off by the size plus I had plenty of UV PBEMs ongoing).

Since my last UV game finished I have concentrated on WITP. Still like to play 1st person shooters such as the Call of Duty series.

MarcA -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 2:08:30 PM)

I must have got it March/April 05. Has it really only been 2 years? It seems like I've been playing it a lifetime.

Titanwarrior89 -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 3:34:56 PM)

HI ya Apharog! How is Ohio? Yep I remember the thrashing I received. Great game I enjoyed it. But you had me beat. Guys if you want to play a good honest player-play Apharog.

Its like a Ships reunion in this thread [:D]

foliveti -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 3:54:32 PM)

I drove to Columbus, Ohio and purchased at Origins the first day it was available. Columbus was only 3 hours away at that time so it was not a superhuman effort. I played regularly until Patch 1.6 came out. That seemed to gum up things so badly that my regular opponent dropped out of the game in the summer of 2005. Work demands picked up for me so I dropped out too until just this February. It is all I play now.

Skyros -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 8:09:43 PM)

Played Pacwar since it came out and only stoped to play WITP on the summer of 04. It is the only came I play consistently, although I like my Craps casino game between turns.

Nikademus -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 8:25:50 PM)

from the day UV came out and WitP before it was released to ze' public

brisd -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 9:38:19 PM)

I came to Matrix Games back in 2000 because of their treatment of GG's PacWar, of which I was a big fan.  Then I played UV until WITP came out and downloaded it the hour it came out! [:'(]

Unfortunately I've never 'finished' a single game of this monster, work and school took too much of my time and I stopped playing back in 2005.  I am currently 'relearning' it via the AI on a game I started last month.

Nikademus -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/3/2007 9:39:54 PM)

SPWAW was what drew me here orig. lol....still have my copy of SP:WAW version 1. (along with the original Steel Panthers from 1995!)

ericl -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/4/2007 12:30:58 AM)

i downloaded it on July 2, 2004. Haven't stopped playing since...

madflava13 -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/4/2007 12:58:33 AM)

Been playing UV since it's release, with WiTP on my hard drive since it was released...

tsimmonds -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/4/2007 1:49:56 AM)

Halsey introduced me to UV in the fall of 03. Downloaded WitP 7/4/04, and never looked back. I have bought only three games since them, but these have served solely to fill in the time spent waiting for turns to arrive. I have to say that CHS and ABs map in particular have added a much-needed depth that is missing from stock scenarios. In stock, China is like a parking lot, terrain-wise. In CHS it is very tough.

Terminus -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/4/2007 1:51:44 AM)

For the first three months after purchase, WitP was the only game I played. Can't claim that's still the case, but that's mostly because I'm so heavily into modding now. Almost more fun the playing...[:D]

Sonny II -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/4/2007 2:28:02 AM)

Bought it June 26 2004 at Origins. Didn't start playing until the next day when I got home. Been playing ever since.

Raverdave -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/4/2007 8:56:39 AM)

I am UV veteran and was a WiTP beta tester.....has it been three years already?[X(]

Speedysteve -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/4/2007 2:48:26 PM)

Bought it on 1st day of release. Never left my PC since

Grotius -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/4/2007 4:52:28 PM)

Same: bought it first day of release, had it on the hard drive ever since.

Bobthehatchit -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/4/2007 4:58:39 PM)

UV vet moved over to WITP the day it was released for download.

Charbroiled -> RE: Roll Call of Longevity (6/4/2007 5:22:53 PM)

Played PACWAR since it's release until I upgrade my OS to Windows. Bought WITP in Sept/Oct '04....been playing consistantly to date. Played one AI game til May '42...been playing PBEM since then. Have bought only 2 games that have stayed on my HD after purchace of WITP...Morrowind and Oblivion. Have bought other games after WITP...Civ IV...Pirates...and a couple other that I can't remember, but they are no longer of interest.

Somewhere, War in the South Pacific is in there, but i am not sure if it was a direct progression or not... it covered (about) the same territory as UV...
