I hope that's not what he's saying... That would seem silly...

Unfortunately this appears not to be such a good bargin after all, as the game in the UK store is £17.99, plus £2.04 for the digital download 2 year guarentee costs. Which surprises me, considering many games in the UK sell the same price pound for dollar as in the US.

I'm not quite sure I follow - are you saying the game should be priced at £34.99?

What I'm saying is that it's normal practice for games to be priced at £40 in the UK (especially in the high street shops), whereas in the US, they sell for $40. This isn't just limited to games, it's also true for computers - often a computer priced at £1000 here would be as good as one priced at $1000 in the US. Ditto for things like CDs, DVDs, etc.

I certainly do not want Matrix to raise their UK prices though, as they do seem to be about right compared to US prices, according to the current exchange rate.

JudgeDredd -> RE: still on target for July? (7/24/2007 3:41:50 PM)

Well, if it's $34.99 in the US, and the current exchange rate is roughly $2 to £1, then 2 x £17.99 makes $35.98 and that seems on par with the exchange rate.

So I don't get your beef tbh.

Is it that you think the game should be $17.99 - so that it's on par with your estimated "formula" of

If so, that's just ridiculous. I mean, you are correct in that it does happen on certain things...but it's ridiculous it happens anyway.

The fact that the "border" is down and one country can get something for their currency equivalent, rather than an inflated price as sometimes happens (as you have alluded to in your previous post)

PJL1973 -> RE: still on target for July? (7/24/2007 4:42:02 PM)

No, I don't think the game should be $17.99 or £34.99, just saying that it does happen here in the UK, altough less than previously now that people have wisened up to the fact they can get the same items cheaper from overseass (even taking into account delivery and customs charges).

JudgeDredd -> RE: still on target for July? (7/24/2007 4:52:36 PM)

Yes...it certainly does happen...but I think online purchases may be different. It may also depend on the value of the item...like the iPhone being $300? and is going to be about £200 - £300 here!
