To be honest, it isn't that big a deal.

These games are 'near-product' in my world.  They do not have to 'work'.  There are no warranties, returns (usually), guarantees, product sustainment (beyond the final patch), etc.

I do not expect the people that buy/use them to do anything but have fun with them.  Its hard to take people seriously about these products.  I never really liked ASL after going to one of the conventions and being exposed to so many wargamers in person.  Let's face it; its an odd lot.  The worst are the ones posing as historians, writers, etc.  They are usually bank clerks, work in malls, whatever.  If it makes anyone feel better, I was being as nice to all the ASL geeks as I could possibly be.  But after that, I knew that computers were the future.

To me its a big joke and if anyone thinks that I take any of this tripe seriously, they are mistaken.  Its just a lifelong fascination that I enjoy at a hobby level.  The fact that it is modeling people getting maimed and killed is not lost on me either.  I like to think that a war against a horrible tyrant justifies it somehow.  But a war against Syrian Lobsters or Iranian Crabmen doesn't tickle my fancy.

Yeah I'm not too excited about the Syrian Lobsters, I might get into stomping on some Iranians though or Chinese in a hypothetical skirmish. But SYRIA?? that's a walk in the park over in a week type of war really. More of a Policing up action than a war. They have no power to speak of, some bb guns and plastic grenades maybe. haha Of course I will get lamblasted by someone for saying that, but, that's what I think of the Syrian army.

I still say people would have more fun and run up against a much better AI playing GTS's SAN ANDREAS in the military everyone has guns mode. That's a riot ot play.

The Syrian army is best described as Saddam's Army in miniature.  Maybe an order of magnitude crappier.  a speed bump now that the USA has had the best training ever.

Korea is a 'virgin' wargame subject.  Maybe offering interesting mix of good weapons/fanatics/terrain/etc.

I hate to play The Reanimator here, but I wanted to send out an offer to any interested.

I happen to have an extra sealed copy of Combat Mission: Shock Force and I am looking to sell it. Ebay has been up and down for me lately, so I figured I would give you all a shot.

I would part with it for $35 (and that includes shipping) or a reasonable offer. I will ship to Canada, and domestically here in the US. I would love it if someone who wants the game would contact me via email, so that this unused copy can find a home. Otherwise, I may have to turn to the soulless oblivion of Ebay...

How'd you end up with two copies? Plus which one is it the Battlefront one or the Paradox screwed up one?

cdbeck -> RE: CM:SF PREVIEW DID you see it? (10/22/2007 2:57:53 AM)

It is the Battlefront.com one (the "good one").

Well, Battlefront.com sent me the copy, much later than I ordered it (we had a shipping snafu). I also had a Digital DL copy, so the hardcopy ended up being superfluous.
