August-Week 3-1775 Indians on the Warpath In the east Washington´s army sat at Norwich recovering from his huge win last week. In the north it does look like Clinton is going to chase Sullivan all the way to the artic if need be to destroy his army. Sullivan will soon be at Fort Western so I`ll try to have him hold up there. It is a fort. I`ll have to check the rules to see how all that works. But the real scene of action occured in the Mohawk River Valley where 900 indians turned into 2,000 under Colonel Sharpe and they attacked. The easily over ran Sullivan & Gansevoort cannon or no cannon. Indians move fast and have a high melee rating. After forcing the Continentals to retreat they attacked again in the same week. Winning another easy victory and forcing the Americans back to within 3 spaces of Albany. So any dream of taking that Mohawk village anytime soon is now up in smoke. August-Week 4-1775 Indians threaten Albany Over in the east Clinton has pushed Sullivan to within one space of Fort Western. Looks like we may have a siege soon. Washingtons Army sits at Norwich, indulging in the gratitudes of the cities women for liberating them from the British. [;)] Out in the Mohawk River Valley the Continentals have been routed back all the way to Albany. Albany itself now is under threat to be captured by these savages. The latest battle... 2,032 Indians-vs-1,782 Continentals with 4 cannon. The Indians lost 31 men. Continentals lost 54 men and 3 cannon. The only reinforcements I had left to call up for Albany with was one militia. The city is fortified though but I still give it`s chances 50/50. Game Comment- the A.I. itself in this game seems quite good. I haven`t seen it do anything I would call stupid. The tactical battles are very hard to win if you don´t have a superior force. If there is a ¨trick¨ to be found to win against the A.I. in these battles I haven`t found it. In my fight for Norwich I tried taking my 1,000 cavaly to the Britsh rear to destroy all his cannon and I had mixed results. I destroyed 3 cannon this way. On the opposite side I lost 2 cannon from his Infantry charging my guns in that battle. In the battles with these Indians I have found it hard to even use cannon. The Indians move quite fast and seem to immediateley go to over run my cannon. So with the cannons I didn`t have as much a ¨technical¨ edge against these Indians as I though I was going to have. September-Week 1-1775 Albany falls to the Indians Four short weeks ago I was talking about capturing that Mohawk Indian village and now wild Indians are running through the streets of Albany! [:@] Yes I lost a very tight battle....Albany and the entire Mohawk River Valley it seems now. In New York I have had 1,500 men training for a month....so now it looks like they`re going to get the nod to head up that way and get this Indian situation under control. Battle for Albany.... 1,806 Indians-vs-2,496 Continentals with 2 cannon. Indian lost 226 men....Continentals, 208 men and 1 cannon. In the east Washington still sits at Norwich. Women and drink seems to be all they`re doing now after their big victory. The ¨Revelry¨ event knocked his readiness down 30 pts so no moves anytime soon. September-Week 2-1775 Reinforcements from New York Sullivan sits one space from Fort Western with 4,000 men hoping to get his readiness up, Clinton with 7,000 men, mostly militia, is opposite him yet doesn´t attack. Washingtons still at Norwich preparing to attack the British again. Smallwood leads his 1,500 men from New York he has been training for a month up to join Montgomery in a bid to get Albany back. September-Week 3-1775 Stalemate at Fort Western. Smallwood continued his march up to join Montgomery. The Indians seem content to sit at Albany for the moment. They are in the same shape as Montgomery and his men....exhausted. A spy told me so on an event. Sullivan, having been chased all the way from Boston in the last 2 months has no place left to run. Having cornered him Clinton now has decided not to attack. Clintons army is mostly badly trained militia. Sullivans is not, his men have just been exhausted. September-Week 4-1775 Washington looking for a fight. I`m thinking I`m going to attack again very shortly with Washington and company. His Army seems very powerful. This and the British fleet shell him about every 2 weeks or so. If Leslie was in a position to attack him he would have attacked by now so I believe Washington has a sizable advantage. October-Week 1-1775 Retaking Albany? Montgomery now has been reinforced with 1,500 men and 6 cannon from New York. Do I attack? I'm sure these Indians are still tired because Montgomery still is. Yet I still think it's risky. If I don`t attack I will have to fall back because of the supply situation. They are going down. I think I give it one try and attack. I really need to get Albany back. October-Week 2-1775 Washington wins again. Well for the first time in this game I have seen a Redcoat army break and take to running from a Continental army. Washingtons army attacked Leslie northeast of Norwich and the battle wasn´t even close. From start to finish the Continentals beat on the British...using Morgans and Putnams fire bonus to good effect. Forces The British... 2,162 Infantry 214 Cavalry 31 Guns -VS- The Continentals 7,941 Infantry 841 Cavalry 65 Guns Casualties for the Battle... British... 570 Infantry 67 Cavalry 17 Guns The Continentals 107 Infantry 32 Cavalry Unless the British have something really big in Boston I think I might be able to push to the city. But not all good news this week. Clinton attacked Sullivan outside Fort Western easily winning. Sullivan retreats to the Fort. Continentals suffer 250 men lost out of 2,136. November-Week 2-1775 Albany Retaken Having chased Sullivan all the way to Fort Western it now seems Clinton & Murray are going to fall back on Portland. Supply thing I'm thinking. At Albany, Montgomery and company attack and drive Sharpe and his Indians out. Albany is once again Continental and its 500 points. The Indians withdrew all the back down the Valley it seems. Battle for Albany... 1,400 Indians-Vs-3,749 Continentals with 1 cannon. Casualties... 134 Indians 53 Continentals This Continental Army is VERY badly trained and not very effective despite it's big numbers. It's really mostly militia. December-Week 1-1775 Up north near Fort Western Clinton has definately fallen back to Portland. Sullivan sits at Fort Western waiting out the winter. Winter seems to heavily effect supply and readiness. Given this and the distance between Fort Western and Portland it`s doubtful any succesful attack could be made by either side. At Albany, Montgomery recovers from his retaking of the city. The Indians and Sharpe have definately left the area. I´m thinking because of winter here too. However a meter of snow didn`t stop Washinton and his grand army from making an attack to capture Providence. Continentals... 9,658 Infantry 795 Cavalry 63 Cannons British... 8,838 Infantry 36 Cannons At first it looked like Washington and company were going to sweep the field easily. Then the British recieved what seemed to be elite reinforcements. After that it got very tough. At the end of the Battle despite heavier British losses they controlled the field. Casualties... Continentals 615 Infantry 34 Cavalry British 1,675 Infantry 2 Cannon So....another British victory. Although costly, kind of like Bunker Hill. Now it seems there are at least 3,000 more British in Boston. Washington will go back down to Norwich, lick his wounds and see what developes. January-Week 1-1776 Up north near Fort Western Clinton moves his army to sit opposite Sullivan. I believe Sullivan can wip him now as his army is well rested. Montgomery trains at Albany. South of Boston a Continental crisis has developed. The British came down out of Providence and gave George a pretty good beating, forcing him out of Norwich. British occupy the town. Now how did that happen? Before the battle Morgan recieved the ¨Revelry¨ random event bringing down his readiness 30 points. So Morgans men stumbled into the battle after a long night of whores and ale. He alone is in command of half the armys strength. So I was crippled to start with. As if that wasn´t bad enough several turns into the battle Benedict Arnold gets shot. After this the Redcoats just rolled down and started rolling up Washingtons army. Washington called for retreat and I run his men off the field. Perhaps more stressing is the events taking place south of New York. Redcoats have landed and are capturing all the middle towns in the American colony. I don`t have much to stop them with down there. Unless I get some help from foreign governments (the french) soon I think this revolution will be crushed. I have plenty men and good leaders but need weapons. Rifles, rifles, rifles! That's what I need. Battle at Norwich Continentals... 8,750 Infantry (5,000 are sick from too much beer) 720 Cavalry 49 Cannons British... 7,531 Infantry 46 Cannons Casualties.... January-Week 1-1776 Can you imagine the size of the British forces come spring after getting all the influence points for this? There will probably be Indians by the millions [:@] Game comment- I find the largest tactical battle maps to be a bit too large. I wouldn´t mind seeing them made a little bit smaller in size. January-Week 4-1776 No Rest for the Weary Washington, having been beaten out of Norwich retreated to New Haven to recover but Robertson & Grey stayed right on top on him. No sooner had Washington and his Army got there they attacked again. Battle for New Haven... Continentals 6,772 Infantry 665 Cavalry 39 guns British 6,716 Infantry 500 Cavalry 40 Guns Casualties... Continentals 221 Infantry 55 Cavalry 6 guns British 260 Infantry 6 Guns Basicly the Continentals fired a couple shots and retreated before it got really ugly. Washington and his army are now fleeing to New York. Game Comment- Patch 1.81 added a ¨all retreat button¨ but this allows the player to keep using it over and over in the same turn. In effect gaining unlimited movement points towards the map borders. In this battle I checked this and this is what happens. This should be fixed. I won´t use it more than once in a turn from now on and did this time to check to see if this bug report was correct. It is. March-Week 2-1776 Battle for New York After losing an attempt to capture Providence, then being beaten at Norwich & New Haven and finally pushed all the way down to New York Continental hopes were wavering. However using my influence (as much as I had) to uplift Washingtons armys and wip them back into fighting shape worked. Troops called up to counter the British threat occurring in the south were also made availabale, although they're not really combat effective yet. Robertson & Grey, at the head of the British army hesitated a month before attacking New York. The Army was large and well trained but being out in that bad weather for a month really sapped their readiness. Battle for New York.... Continentals Infantry 10,768 Cavalry 654 Cannon 49 British Infantry 6,173 Cavalry 500 Cannon 34 Casualties.... Continentals Infantry 59 Cavalry 11 Cannon 1 British Infantry 273 Cannon 7 Not the bloodiest battle, the British realised they were outgunned and began retreating pretty early. I suppose if the A.I. has readiness fall below a certain level it starts pulling its men off the battlefield. That´s what happens when you leave your men out in the cold for a month far from a town. March-Week 3-1776 Fort Western & Portland During the winter months Sullivan and his army has sat at Fort Western. Clinton pulled his army up to sit opposite him....in winter. The result being Sullivans readiness was very high and Clintons, I`m sure was very low. So one week after Washington holds New York Sullivan runs around Clinton and captures Portland as Clinton looks on helpless. This was critical as I could not reinforce Sullivans army from a fort and his Army was very inferior in strength compared to Clintons. May-Week 1-1776 French Aid Not much else happened the rest of the winter so I jump to this point. Just got this message. The French will sell me rifles and cannons to fight the British. I imagine King George is not very happy with this. It also says I`m allowed to recruit French citizens to join the fight against the British. The situation in the North is unchanged. I`m very hesitant about joining the British in Battle again unless I have assured victory. This war is spreading to the south. Small groups of militia and indians are having many small fights in this area. A few Redcoats have even been spotted. I'll update this with a map picture soon to give a more clear view of how this has been going. Ahh..Benedict Arnold has recovered from his battle wound so everyone can stop sending flowers. June-Week 1-1776 Battle at New York II A second, very large British army appeared at New Haven with 7,000 men and cannon. It moved north to Hartford. As I only had 1,000 militia there I run them off the field and up north. British capture Hartford easily. In front of New York a second British army of 11,000 men and cannon that has been sitting for a while attacked Washington in New York. I think one General failed to react because the British only sent 7,000+ soldiers into the battle....luckily for me. The result was an American victory. I think when British readiness recovers though they will hit Washington again and probably this time all Generals will react and he'll face 11,000+ British soldiers. As far as that second large British army that just took Hartford...well I don`t have a second large army. [:(] Sharpe and his Indians have been seen snooping around Kingston area. June-Week 4-1776 British Drive On Once again the British attack New York and Washington stops them. Casualties... Continental Infantry 60 Cavalry 47 Cannon 3 British Infantry 292 Cavalry 42 Cannon 9 So that's all well and good. The problem is the rest of the of the Colony! [:@] South of New York there is a checkerboard of who controls what with the deep south...Georgetown on down being solidly British. But British strength is growing down there and I have very limited resources to work with. Also north of New York the second large British Army pushed up from Hartford to capture Springfield. Continentals... 2,127 Infantry with 3 cannon. -VS- British 3,489 Infantry with 24 cannons. Casualties... Continentals 292 men and 3 cannon. British 311 men. August-Week 1-1776 I think this game is going to come down to simple numbers. The British have a lot more than me. Much more. Washingtons army now sits between two huge British armies. Each one has as many men as his own. He will be outnumbered about 2-1 in the coming battles and probably lose New York. The British did push me out of Springfield and moved a large force over to Albany. I did manage to take Springfield back. In the South it is becoming a numbers game too.
