This is pretty basic but since you're trying everything, did you reinstall DirectX? Especially afrter installing new sound/video drivers?

Yes i did. As i've said, all my games work fine, except GoA.

JudgeDredd -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/12/2007 11:20:00 AM)

More to keep this alive for you, Haplo, but have you had this fixed yet?

Haplo_Patryn -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/16/2007 8:10:47 PM)

No. [:o]

FrankHunter -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/16/2007 10:51:10 PM)

I'm using a different sound library than I used in Campaigns on the Danube but sound does seem to be the bane of my existence and so its always the first thing I think of when there's a problem like this.  However, I'm not sure that's the case here.

Looking at your Dr Watson my guess would be that your GoA download is corrupted in some manner because it looks like it can't load the files/resources its supposed to be loading.  May I ask you to select your GoA folder and click properties and tell me how many files/folders there are and  the size in mbs?

Haplo_Patryn -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/16/2007 10:58:29 PM)

Thanks Frank.

The properties show that GoA folder have 480 files and 16 subfolders. The size is 288 MBs.

FrankHunter -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/16/2007 11:06:43 PM)

That's weird, thats more than I have in mine.  I have 439 files in 10 folders, for about 245 mb.   Could you do the same for just the contents of your Goa/Graphics folder and your GoA/Sound folder?

To anyone else, does the contents of your overall GoA folder match mine or Haplo's? (minus savedgames)

Haplo_Patryn -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/16/2007 11:13:31 PM)

Sounds weird.

Graphics folder: 387 files and 4 subfolders. Size 98,4 MB.
Sound folder: 38 files and 1 subfolder. Size 89,5 MB.

FrankHunter -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/16/2007 11:26:59 PM)

I also have 387 files in Graphics.

However, I have only 2 subfolders in Graphics, "Buttons" and "Counters".  In Sound I have no subfolders.

What are the names of those additional subfolders?

Haplo_Patryn -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/16/2007 11:32:46 PM)

In COUNTERS graphics folder, i have two subfolders: CONTROL and OVERALL.

In SOUND folder i have a "MONO" subfolder.

FrankHunter -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/16/2007 11:37:31 PM)

Okay, Graphics is fine.  I don't know what MONO is, perhaps added later, anyone else have that?

mereman -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/17/2007 12:08:07 AM)

Frank I have in sound folder 89.5MBs I also have MONO subfolder which has 6 files
IntroMusic.wav
Then MUSIC 1 to 5 .wavs.

Overall size 284mb 473 Files and 15 Folders (I have moved my save game folder out to check)

Graphics 98.4 mb 387 files and 4 folders

So i seem closer to Haplo then yours setup.  So far I have had no problems.

Hope this helps

473 files (less 12 saved games) and 16 folders at 291 megs. Mine locks up with sound on or off with the "Device already open" dialog. So I quit playing two weeks ago.

JudgeDredd -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/18/2007 11:54:43 PM)

473 files, 15 folders and Size on Disk is 285MB. (these figures are excluding the saved game folder and files)

In the sound folder specifically, I have 1 folder, 38 files and 89.5MB

The Graphics folder specifically, I have 4 folders, 387 files and 99.2MB (Size on Disk)

Haplo_Patryn -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/20/2007 7:44:04 PM)

I installed the two patches and the problem is still here. First, i tried with the sound patch but i had the same error. Then i uninstalled GoA, installed it again with the no sound patch...nope, the same error again. [:(]

I'm going to try with another pc i have and see what happens.

FrankHunter -> RE: Runtime error 216 (8/21/2007 12:15:54 AM)

Hmm, so it has nothing to do with the sound library then.  Strange, I can't imagine why it wouldn't run otherwise, its just a basic Windows GDI program, nothing unusual at all.
