No Shaun I'm running XP. I've had a RTE 429 off and on for awhile. Reinstalling used to take care of it, but not now. I can't seem to find any way to get into the game. RTE 429 is keeping me locked out.
Don

OK, Don, I just built you a special version of PureSim that will tell me exactly what file it is causing the issue.

Download this one, and unzip it over your current copy of PureSim2k7.exe (in the "c:\matrix games\puresim baseball 2007" folder)

It should give you an option to email the data it collects from the crash dump. Go ahead and send that my way and I'll have a look. I am 100% sure this is an issue with you XP install, but at least this should help us figure out where to start troubleshooting.

Shaun

I just finished the v1.63 download (12 hours with dialup). Is it ok to install it or is everyone having the RTE 429 problem after the install?

Thanks much - Dennis

LetsPlay2 -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (7/28/2007 9:48:53 PM)

I think the RTE is Don's  I am OK now

But mine was different. I think you can install !

dlh55 -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (7/28/2007 9:57:06 PM)

Thanks Myron, I'll get it installed.

My bad. Mis-typed the link :)

Don, the crash report didn't help that much but it appears some mof the Microsoft data access components may be corrupt on your machine.

Try installing this: http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/d/f/adfdf363-0b09-4f39-bf89-1b4bc234fe97/windowsxp-kb829558-x86-enu.exe

DonBraswell -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (7/30/2007 6:45:36 AM)

Shaun, that was for an older IE than what I have. But it got me headed in the right direction. So I spent quiet a while on the Microsoft pages looking for a RTE 429 fix. One IE7 repair file helped but didn't completely fix the problem. It did let me get to the crack of the bat before getting RTE429. A few files didn't help at all. Another file was an active X repair for MS Office. After that was loaded I could open the game. I was still getting some errors about opening photo's. Also had problems Configuring Memorial Stadium's Hitting zones (forgot what it is called. Senior moment). Any way at least I can play the game. I sent you a couple of error reports on the photo's and Stadium problems. For a guy who is lousy with software at least I was able to stumble my way back into the game. Thanks for your help Shaun.

I did it that way in the past but in this just makes it more straightforward for everyone and removes a lot of doubt. I totally sympathize with folks that don't have broadband but if you do, this is like 2 minute download.

I'm not trying to be flippant, just saying that this avoids a lot of issues since it will work for everyone no matter what version they are on.

Shaun

2 minute download? How fast is your connection?!?!?!?! It probably will take me 2-3 hours to download that file on my DSL connection. I usually save large downloads like this for when I'm sleeping.

KG Erwin -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (7/31/2007 12:32:10 AM)

Shaun stated elsewhere that he's considering the "mini-patch" option for upcoming updates. I'm sure most of us are happy to hear that.

The full-on d/l was never a problem for me, as my cable connection allowed me to get it in maybe 10-15 minutes.

However, I had to make sure I renamed my custom music and other items before installing/overwriting.

PS My Pure-Sim game folder (which includes fan-created stadiums, photos, templates etc.) is now a whopping 1.35 GB. [X(]

akcranker -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (7/31/2007 12:53:07 AM)

yea I seen that he's considering the smaller downloads which would be great. I'm just amazed at how fast he says he can download that file. I'm wondering how quick his connection is and how much he pays. Up here in Alaska high speed connections are a bit more expensive compared to the lower 48.

PadresFan104 -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (7/31/2007 5:29:38 AM)

I have Roadrunner High Speed Internet through Time Warner Cable here in San Diego.  The download just took me 10 minutes.

JonnieR -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (7/31/2007 5:55:17 AM)

Comcast in Northern Cal, 6.5 minutes for download.

DonBraswell -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (7/31/2007 6:06:19 AM)

My DSL through Bellsouth takes 19 minutes.

KG Erwin -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (7/31/2007 6:22:19 AM)

Well, some of us seem to well-connected, so to speak, but Shaun's idea of issuing a few more incremental updates sounds good to me.

renojedi -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (8/2/2007 8:23:36 AM)

Hi. I downloaded 1.63 and am having a problem. Just curious if anyone else has experience this.

Any time a flyball results in the pop up box asking for a decision (take a base or throw out), no matter what I click, the screen goes white and then an error box comes up saying the game had an unexpected error and must close. It then does the standard thing of asking if I want to send an error report to Microsoft.

Should I just reload the 1.63 patch or is this a problem that had already been identified?

Thanks.

What operating system are you running? I can't seem to duplicate this. Have you tried a re-boot?

jeremy7227 -> RE: PureSim Baseball v1.63 Released (8/4/2007 11:18:49 AM)

I ran some tests around player import using a few different association types and I uncovered some issues.

Despite the fact that the Import Player option "append source year" defaults to "off" for a PS Classic association players were still imported with a source year. The association was originally created using fictional players and on doing a manual import of real players they were found to have the source year appended. This setting seems to be ignored unless you actually start the association with a seeded pool.

When you start an association in PS Classic or Sandbox mode and you set the association year to 2000 (any year) but you choose to seed the association with players from 1900 (any other year), the association year is forced to 1900 (or the year of the seeded player season). This would be ok if your league structure was close to the import year but if you build an association of a large size and want a mix of fictional and real players you can't do it effectively and preserve your era of play - seems like an actual bug.

Two features I would like that would be new but enhance the experience when coupled with the bug fixes above:
- To start with seeded player pools from any season. Include 1871-1899 in the drop down.
- A "Global Player Edit" feature to do macro changes on a number of players that meet a filtered set of criteria. PS does a good job with the imported player ratings but sometimes you want to grab a group of players and improve or degrade their attributes on a wholesale basis to modify the league wide performance. It would be nice to be able to do that without having to visit every player card.

Also here's a feature I want to bring to light but am not sure if even I am in love with
- A "change association year" feature to put my association in a time machine and play it in a different era - There was a game called "Old-Time Football" from Acclaim that allowed you to do this with NFL teams. The graphics were novel but that wore off and the stats engine was a lot weaker than PS but the effect of taking modern teams back to a time before there was such a thing as a passing game was cool.

Shaun, I've had alot of RT errors with PS1.63 that I uninstalled and reloaded PS1.60. PS 1.60 runs without RTE's. I sent you reprorts of these RTE's. Have you seen them? Any way I'm going to down load PS1.64 and see if I have better luck. Oh, from what I could tell all of the RTE's had to do with pictures. I could not configure my Stadiums either.
