Hi Arkady, [:)]
just wanna thank you for your great work.
Enjoyed the previous version, as i do enjoy now your lastest version of "The Unit Viewer".

SGT Rice -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (7/16/2008 11:25:41 AM)

The unit viewer simply rocks.[&o]

Arkady -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (7/16/2008 9:55:56 PM)

Thank you [:)]

I'm working now on Unit Checker, small command line utility that should help developers keep units, weapons and 3D icons files correct :)
It is almost done but no time this week to finish it.

Legionaer -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (7/20/2008 12:05:54 PM)

Hey Arkady,

needed a little bit to "find" your viewer, but you´ve really done a great job! [&o]

I've never had any trouble running Arkady's Unit Viewer.  Today, however, for East Front and Rising Sun (not West Front), I get the following message:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application.  If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.  If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

I've hit Continue, but the error persists.  Any suggestions?

Have you tried more than once? Sometimes during booting up, drivers don't load properly. Have you tried accessing it after rebooting? Or does this happen no matter what?

1925frank -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (8/11/2008 4:07:45 AM)

I turned the computer off for at least fifteen minutes and rebooted. Same result. I tried disabling the firewall, but got the same result.

Edit: The above results were for the launch icon in my CS folder. I then went into a subfolder -- a separate Unit Viewer folder, within which was another launch icon, and I used that one, and it worked for all three (EF, WF, and RS). I'm thinking the launch icon in the CS folder was for the earlier version of the Unit Viewer, which was why it didn't work.

it is strange, there were no changes in 'Play Game' button functionality

check if there is settings.txt file next to JTCS_UnitViewer.exe
If yes, delete it, maybe there is a wrong path stored for game directory

1925frank -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (8/11/2008 4:12:58 PM)

I'm talking about the launch icon for the Unit Viewer.  Within the Unit Viewer on the right is the "Play Game" button.

I thought it was odd too that it would work only for WF.

I don't know why I had a subfolder with a separate launch icon.  I'm clumsy when downloading things, espcially when it requires unzipping.  I learn computer stuff from trial and error. [Edit: Correction. Occasionally I impose on LarryP for advice. Good buddy that he is, he popped up here as well to try to help.]

Within the subfolder were three other files in addition to the launch icon, but I'm at work now, and I don't recall what the other three files were.  I was thinking of copying and pasting the launch icon from the subfolder into the CS folder -- or maybe even to desktop if that isn't beyond my capabilities.

If the launch button was the same, this is curious.

The Unit Viewer is a great feature, Arkady.  Thanks again.

Arkady -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (8/11/2008 4:37:42 PM)

you need copy two files when you want move the app to different location (application - or as you call it, launch icon, and library file fmodex.dll)

best way for move Viewer to different location is simple
in User_Mods folder in gamer direcotry is another folder called JTCS_Unitviewer, copy all files within this directory and Paste them to desired location

HobbesACW -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (8/19/2008 8:48:21 PM)

This is great Arkady, a really useful tool and fun too!
Many thanks,
Chris

Cats -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (12/3/2009 3:07:32 PM)

Fixed.

Re installed in Default folder and opened right up. Sorry for the bother.

My fault...........

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (12/10/2009 8:07:18 AM)

Guys,

Just realised the Unit Viewer does not even start up in my Windows 7 64 bit edition.

I have installed the Campaign series together with the 1.04 patch to default folder.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

JTCS works apart from the reported Map Editor problem.

cw58 -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (12/10/2009 6:38:29 PM)

Crossroads,

See posts #105 & 106 above. I'm guessing it has to do with the 64-bit.

~Wade

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (12/10/2009 7:51:44 PM)

Thanks Wade!

Yes, saw the posts. Hoped there would be a fix by now...

HareFlick -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (1/3/2010 6:26:10 PM)

I've spent ages tracking this viewer down - and now I have it!

A proper unit viewer is an important resource for all those who want to understand different unit's abilities/costs etc. And the fact that it does not need to run during the game is spot on what I wanted. Now I can get on with the management of my forces. Arkady's program is the business!

Sorry, I do not have full working version for x64...
Send me PM with your e-mail address and filepath to your JTCS installatio (something like C:\MatrixGames...)
I'll compile specific exe file for you

mheard -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (2/20/2010 11:48:40 AM)

Arkady,

I too have windows 7 64 bit now and JTCS Unit Viewer won't work. Any news on a fix for this?

Thanks...

XLVIIIPzKorp -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (3/1/2010 3:37:51 AM)

Arkady,

Ditto to what mheard said. Windows 7 64 bit.... no viewer. Any help on the way?

Thanks

Arkady -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (10/9/2010 6:39:13 PM)

I've new version that should be able to run on both 32bit and 64bit Windows operating systems (XP, Vista and 7)
Please check it and let me know if it works or not ;)
Thanks

junk2drive -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (1/20/2013 3:18:25 PM)

I upgraded XP to Win8 and had to reinstall the game and patch to 1.04. I found some mismatches with UV. I found that the version 1.03.2 was installed. People that use this tool should check their version number and update if necessary.

VadeS -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (2/2/2013 9:14:38 PM)

Great job :). Thanks a lot

albertross -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (6/18/2013 6:40:28 PM)

Great idea, but it would be a LOT more useful if if also gave the actual file names of the movement and weapon sounds too

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (8/29/2013 6:44:35 AM)

I can confirm the latest version Arkady kindly provided to us in post #115 works also on Windows 8 64 bit.

The version included in MCS 1.04 is an older one, so please upgrade folks!
