Arkady -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (10/31/2013 2:44:36 PM)

Just to confirm that "latest" version (1.04.3) from 2011 is still working even on Windows 8.1 [8D]
https://sites.google.com/site/jtcsunitviewer/

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (2/20/2014 2:01:11 PM)

Bump. Make sure to check out Arkady's latest version of the excellent Unit Viewer tool too!

Version 2.00.1 is included in the 2.0 patch. Thanks Arkady!

Arkady -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (2/20/2014 8:40:36 PM)

And thanks to Crossroad for requesting improvements :D otherwise I'll let the baby die

What does this mean, exactly?
Also saw on another thread that Crossroads mention your unit viewer will revert back to reading .oob instead of .obx....true?

Thanks.

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (3/10/2014 7:43:55 AM)

It seems the Unit Viewer reads the OOB files instead of OBX already in 2.00.1 version.

I did a test with the -X parameters: adding a new unit and formation, adding the formation to a scenario ORG, added the ORG to scenario, and played the scenario. All worked a treat.

While at it, I discovered I see the new unit via Unit Viewer as well.

Arkady, can you confirm?

Very easy to try it out yourself too. [:)]

TAIL GUNNER -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (3/10/2014 12:46:16 PM)

damn, you're right!

I must be missing something from my mod, .oob will not display, but .obx would?

In Unit Viewer, you mean?

Arkady -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (3/10/2014 10:06:23 PM)

Yes Unit Viewer is reading unencrypted fles (.oob and .pdt)
It was changed even before version 2.00.1 (at least it seems from my source code comments ;) )

Note: Nation list enumaration is still based on presence of particular .obx files

ah, this is why...in my mod's directory I had stripped out all .obx files....thanks Arkady!

1925frank -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (5/23/2014 7:29:47 PM)

I'm having trouble. I downloaded the Unit Viewer and unzipped it. There are four files: fmadex.dll (an application extension), JTCS_UnitViewer (an application), and two text documents. I can launch the Unit Viewer using the application and I made a shortcut to desktop, and it works fine.

My question is how do I access the Unit Viewer while in the game itself? I used the Alt + Tab, but, with one exception, my only options are the CS game itself (which I'm already in) and the desktop. Once I was able to access the Unit Viewer within the game by using Alt + Tab, but I wasn't able to repeat it.

The instructions say to run the JTCS_UnitViewer.ex. That must be the JTCS_UnitViewer application. I didn't see a separate file with the "ex" behind it.

What should I be doing? Someone I checked with said he just goes to the "help" on the toolbar and selects the UnitViewer. I don't see that option when I go to the "help" in the tool bar.

berto -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (5/23/2014 7:49:13 PM)

The Unit Viewer will be accessible in-game (and from within the scenario editor) via the F3 key -- in the forthcoming 2.01 Update, due out soon.

1925frank -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (5/23/2014 11:08:39 PM)

Super! Thanks, Berto. I thought perhaps I was missing something. I believe I read elsewhere that the 2.01 Update should be out soon as in by mid June or possibly even before that.

One of the features I especially liked about the Unit Viewer is it tells you whether a country falls within the Axis or Allies camp for purposes of building a scenario.

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (1/7/2015 3:52:37 PM)

Going forward with the new games in the series, looks like everyone's favorite utility will still be around! Thanks Arkady for keeping Unit Viewer up to date even with the new graphics, folder structures, and data values!

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (1/7/2015 7:47:52 PM)

For instance: check out the new Zoom-In 2D icons there, with new chits, and Mike's new unit graphics and NATO symbols in place [:)]

berto -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (1/7/2015 7:56:41 PM)

What a splendid adjunct to the Campaign Series! Thank you, Arkady!

Arkady -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (2/16/2015 9:00:05 PM)

beta version for tests
http://arkady.cz/storage/jtcs_unitviewer_20140871.zip

version should read 2.0.1.40871 in title bar when you run it
changes related to WF/EF/RS:
- if you replace version of the viewer that was released with 2.01 update (in \Tools\JTCS_Unitviewer\ folder) and invoke it with F3 from the game, particular game (East/West or Rising Sun) should be preselected to speed up search for units

- boats/rafts and ships now display water background properly

- command line parameter with specified path could display nation/units from different location - check for game executables and other files is still present, good for modders with different game copies (example cmd: JTCS_UnitViewer.exe "E:\Matrix Games\John Tiller's Campaign Series\" look for the game in this location)

ToDo List:
- better units search that allows cycle in search results
- filter for specified time period
- additional command line parameter that enable quick display of selected unit (for example "cmd: JTCS_UnitViewer.exe -p01644" should open utility with german's PzKpfw IVE (Tauchfahig) displayed"

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (2/17/2015 2:54:08 PM)

Downloaded the latest version, working very well with each of the JTCS 2.02 games.

I like your ideas for further developing the tool, such as being able to redo search commands. Time limits are handy as well, as the unit rosters are getting very long!

Thank you Arkady! [:)]

Works like a dream with latest "Middle East" alpha code as well. Thank you so much!

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (2/17/2015 3:21:27 PM)

You gotta love the new 2D unit counters [:)]

carll11 -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (2/23/2015 7:35:35 PM)

when you extract the files from the zip, What folder should I direct them too? thx!!

Warhorse -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (2/23/2015 8:37:34 PM)

You may put them pretty much anywhere, just will need to make sure the correct path for the games is in the Settings file. They were in the Tools folder within the game structure, good a place as any!

almost everywhere you want, or replace files in game directory's Tools folder to test F3 hot key functionaly in CS games (it invokes JTCS Unit viewer with current game pre-selected)
\Matrix Games\John Tiller's Campaign Series\Tools\JTCS_Unitviewer\

carll11 -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (1/18/2016 3:04:02 PM)

I have unzipped it into every folder wf ef and the game folder, etc. and when I click F3,I get the pop up- up a 'JTCS unit viewer has stopped working' [&:]

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (1/18/2016 5:12:29 PM)

Carl11, try putting the absolute paths to the settings.txt in the orginal folder.

Mine is:

East Front=C:\Matrix Games\John Tiller's Campaign Series\East Front
West Front=C:\Matrix Games\John Tiller's Campaign Series\West Front
Rising Sun=C:\Matrix Games\John Tiller's Campaign Series\Rising Sun
Middle East=C:\Matrix Games\Campaign Series Middle East

Then, for easy access, copy a Shortcut of CS_UnitViewer.exe to your Desktop for easy access.

Then, the CS_UnitViewer would pop up, and be able to point to all of your games.

Hope this helps. Let me know!

carll11 -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (1/23/2016 1:53:17 PM)

IOW- open the setting text doc. and type in the ( my path) to the base folder, like \west front?

like this-

East Front=
West Front=
Rising Sun=
Z:\Trajans Market\Home Old gaming Comp\Matrix East-West\West Front

the Z is my drive path the the WF folder...it doesn't seem to work, whether I use F3 or click the exe for the unit viewer in the WF front folder...or the 'game' folder

Crossroads -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (1/23/2016 3:49:02 PM)

Carl11, each game needs to have their path properly input. See the example I provided, maybe use it as a base. Then type in your exact path after the "=" mark, for each row. No white spaces allowed around "=" or it will not work IIRC.

Hey Mike,

Is this doable with the Korean War, Cold War and K-Talan mods for CS? For that matter the old Divided Ground too?

I got it working great with EF/WF/RS and CSME but never tried it with the other 3 mods.

John

carll11 -> RE: JTCS Unit Viewer (1/23/2016 10:11:38 PM)

ah, so, in the wf folder is should look like this-

East Front=
West Front=Z:\Trajans Market\Home Old gaming Comp\Matrix East-West\West Front
Rising Sun=

?
