Oh, we're here Sir. Been a long holiday weekend for those of us across the pond. In the middle of a game so I haven't installed the patch yet. All that coupled with suffering from the worst cold I have had in 10 years......[&:]

Ah, I'm back I kinda was more into AGEOD ACW and EU3 ... time to play FOF again [8D]

Gil R. -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/6/2007 1:37:29 AM)

By the way, Roger, I'm writing this while sitting on your side of "the pond," in Oxford. I'm here for a conference. I must say that after several weeks of 90-95 degrees in St. Louis, this cooler British weather is almost a miracle to me.

DrewGator -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/6/2007 6:11:10 AM)

I noticed the same thing this afternoon (US Eastern time zone). I didn't have anything particularly insightful or clever to say at the time so I didn't bother to post anything either.[>:]

I spent a week in Michigan back at the beginning of August and I felt much the same way you do. It was a nice break after 4 months of summer!

Yogi the Great -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/6/2007 4:22:22 PM)

I have nothing useful to say, but as a true forum member I will post something anyway if for no other reason then to boost my post count.

I am here now.  I was over there before.  But, I moved.  It seems wherever I go, there I am and there becomes here. Is that clear enough[&:]

Gil R. -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/6/2007 5:00:55 PM)

Very funny.

I might as well mention that the dining hall at Christ Church where I'm having breakfast and lunch each day is the same one used to film part of the dining scenes set at Hogwarts (with the rest of those shots being made in a replica).

jchastain -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/6/2007 7:26:43 PM)

Sometimes it makes you wonder... if we're all just lurking and no one is posting, and many of us appear to be lurking, then what are us lurkers all reading anyway?

I'm not sure what the answer is, but I'm beginning to suspect that reading nothing is better than having Gil describe his holiday meal Regimen.  Sorry, but I am the jealous type.  [;)]

You've made it to 99 Yogi. Don't you wish you had a topic that would allow you to get just one more post so you'd hit 100? (Hint: This is a yes or no question). [:D]

Did you use the recipe Korrigan of AGEOD posted a few months ago?

I'm still waiting for an answer to the "what's eu3?" question. (that and watching football)

Speaking of meals. As we are getting closer to Thanksgiving, I present you the "Bill of Fare", served in the I corps, Army of the Potomoc on Thanksgiving 1862 (it helps if you speak French):

Fresh oysters, not on the shell.
Green turtle soup, a la tin cin.
Leg of mutton, cut in capres.
Roast turkey, a la "Hard Tack", and cranberry sauce.
Sweet potatoes, aux cendres.
Haricots, farcis aux vents.
Riz, a la Dixie.
Pomme de terres, a la smash.

Canvasback ducks, au feu d'enfer, and current jelly.
Lobster salad, rather doubtful.

Mince pies, a l'essence de pommes.
Pumpkin pies, au New England rum.
Almonds-no raisins-apples.
Ginger, "hot in the mouth".
Fruit cake.

Coffee and whiskey.

Taken from Charles S. Wainwright's "Diary of Battle".

Moltke71 -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/7/2007 3:03:48 PM)

Yeah, I'm here tp see if an April '61 scenario will ever be done.  Rationalizing a November start after 1st Bull Run and Missouri's forced adherence to the Union will NOT be part of my reviw.

Having said that, I thought a patch did have an earlier start date option.  Was I dreaming?

Erik Rutins -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/7/2007 3:50:09 PM)

Jim,

A July, 1861 scenario has been in the game since the first release. The most historical version in the latest update is the Coming Fury (Historical) scenario - that's a July, 1861 start. The Southern Steel is the November, 1861 Historical and the Standard Campaign is the November, 1861 'Balanced'. There are no current plans for an April, 1861, but we're working on a 1863 scenario.

Regards,

- Erik

Moltke71 -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/7/2007 4:30:57 PM)

Good. I just went back to FoF last night and forgot how to find the scenarios. So many rushed reviews; I need a rest.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/7/2007 5:17:19 PM)

No problem. As long as you've applied the latest official update (or the latest public beta) you should have the Coming Fury (Historical), which is the earliest historical start.

Moltke71 -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/7/2007 7:01:02 PM)

I'm fairly sure I updated but who knows? I remember the name.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/7/2007 7:42:56 PM)

FWIW, while the game is loading you should see the version number in the top right hand corner. If it doesn't match the latest, I highly recommend grabbing the latest official or beta update as each has some very significant improvements.

Gil R. -> RE: Is anyone here? (9/7/2007 8:20:39 PM)

Bismarck,
As has been mentioned in another thread, some people for some reason have the OLD versions of the July scenario left in their systems, even though the installer should have deleted those. So, definitely be sure to look for "Coming Fury (Historical)" (as Erik mentioned) or "Coming Fury (Balanced)" (as I believe it's called; I'm overseas and can't check the precise name myself).

By the way, please note that the cities in riverine provinces (e.g., Little Rock) now have their names provided when one mouses over them, as per your suggestion a while back.
