As a result of the posts above I thought I would listen to a few ABBA classics. The next band in chronological order in my library is ABC. So I kept the music going and it was great to hear these guys again. I realised this morning that I have not got an ABBA playlist on my Ipod. I know roight? [:D] Anyway, I intend to rectify that glaring omission by selecting 10-12 tracks. From comments recently I know that this will be an eagerly anticipated event so stay tuned as I count down the official bestest ABBA tracks of all time [:)] Edit: Yeah right. 10-12? Impossible to whittle down less than 20.

A fun, rousing song that beautifully show cases the girls incredible voices - unmistakeably early ABBA but their second best toon from that time.

Choosing an order for these wonderful tunes is just impossible. I will keep in the order I first chose, but suspect some of these are misplaced. This next toon is a case in point. Even the brilliant Steve Coogan cannot ruin this song for me.... A-ha!!! A bittersweet track - there are one or two of those coming up. Great lyrics. And Frida looked nice here too [:)]

My first Super Trouper offering is up next. On reflection worthy of the 20 but possibly at 19 or 20. No.15 Happy New Year UK Singles chart highest position - not a single in the UK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Uo0JAUWijM Don't get me wrong this is still a quality song but probably got its place in the 20 more for sentimental reasons. To sing about what will happen in 10 years i.e. 1989 is a bit sobering to us oldies....[:(]

The singles chart position is a strange one - but the reason why it probably didn't achieve No.1 is that it was only released in 1983.... I suspect that most of you are on the edge of your seats wondering what this officialist of official lists will confirm. What are the top 10 bestest ABBA songs of all time? Well be prepared for one or two shocks. But I can confirm we have: 3 tracks from Voulez-vous 3 tracks from The Album 2 tracks from Super Trouper 1 track from The Visitors and 1 track from the self-styled ABBA album. I trust you can contain yourselves.....

The album Voulez Vous provides the first of the top 10. No.10 As Good As New (1979) UK Singles chart highest position - not released as a single in the UK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxv2vF9S0bY This is the second track included, at least in part, for sentimental reasons. This song always takes me back to a more simple time - playing Waterloo with Airfix HO/OO figures with my big bruvver. The song is an upbeat number with a good bass line and I love the 'string' sound that starts the track off.
