I am going to leave it there tonight as a) the Motor Racing is on and b) I want to think more about the order of the top 8. These are some of the finest pieces of pop music ever written. I pretty much know the No.1 but I'll have another listen through on my way to and from work to finalise the order. As expected this is getting ridiculously hard now. Next up I am plumping for another track from ABBA The Album..... No.8 Eagle (1978) Not released as a single in the UK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDI7x1nwTUw This lengthy track (ABBA's longest) is a very inspiring song and its also one of only two things I remember about ABBA The Movie. Very nicely done.

Super Trouper provides its first Top 10 offering next. No.7 Our Last Summer (1980) Not released as a single in the UK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoyNlVQbUPc Frida takes the lead on this one. The word beautiful is used so much in connection with ABBA songs and this one is no different. Great lyrics, a wonderful track, combining nostalgia and love - oh and Paris.

The Visitors provides its only offering in the top 10 next. No.6 I Let The Music Speak (1981) Not released as a single in the UK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nyfvl5L6JNU Another track led by Frida, and one that shows her voice to the very maximum. From her soft delicate start, wonderfully accompanied by a piano, she steps up a gear with an orchestral backing - and the last 40 seconds or so simply raise the hairs on the back of your neck.

So the last one this morning, before looking at the top 4 this evening. I wanted one up tempo number in the higher echelons and this is the track - from ABBA The Album - that makes way for it. Fun Fact: This song was released as a single with a B-side track that will feature later in this list. No.5 The Name of The Game (1977) UK Singles chart highest position No.1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ90ZqH0PWI Both girls share the vocals here - Agnetha singing in a wonderfully dreamy manner - and Frida following suit. This shouldn't be outside the top 3....

Into the top 4 and this is pretty much impossible. The next one is from Voulez Vous - although not originally - and on reflection this may be a little too high. Sounds pretty damn good to me though [:)]

From ABBA The Album its: No.1 I Wonder (Departure) (1977) Not released as a single in the UK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm_z2qNJTGg The lead this time is Frida. The opening piano, the glockenspielly type sound that runs through it, the cut glass voice, the sad, sad (and yet uplifting) words - its really very very simple; if this song doesn't beat you senseless and leave you an incoherent mess prostrate on the floor and begging for mercy then you have no soul. FACT.
