bradfordkay -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (12/5/2008 6:31:25 PM)

In the seventies, the Virginia Air National Guard had a squadron of F-104s at Richmond. The runway ends less than a mile from I-64, over which they were not allowed to fly at low level - so the pilots would come screaming at treetop level until just before the freeway whence they would pull into a verticle climb (always a spectacular sight!).

crsutton -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (12/5/2008 10:06:26 PM)

Self explanatory. Because I was not smart enough or important enough to use anything but my name..[8|]

DivePac88 -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (12/6/2008 3:41:36 PM)

When I was a kid, I used to war-game dive-bomb attacks on ships in the Pacific with my Granddad. He had been in North Afrika with the 2ndNZ Div, and used to talk about the German 88 Flak.

Crimguy -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (12/6/2008 5:36:08 PM)

I used to use Maddmatt (I know very creative), but back in 2001 or so everyone at the Battlefront forum thought I was trying to impersonate one of the heads at BFC (Madmatt). So I changed it to keep things amicable.  Crimguy b/c I am a criminal defense attorney.

If I went with "Crimeguy" I'd probably have an FBI agent tailing me at all times.

Prince of Eckmühl -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (12/6/2008 7:38:14 PM)

Role-playing mostly. Louis Davout, Napoleon's finest.

And the dog? Is it a Samoyed?

AW1Steve -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/15/2009 12:07:43 AM)

Time to dust off this old chestnut again. We  have new friends amongst us who need to speak up, introduce themselves, and say hi! [:)]

wwengr -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/15/2009 1:14:56 AM)

wwengr is a standard log-in that I use. It comes from my profession. I am an environmental engineer that specializes in Biological Wastewater treatment. Hence wwengr = Wastewater Engineer.

Not very sexy, I guess...

I should say that I was... Now I am Director of Sales for North America for Siemens Water Technologies.

stuman -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/15/2009 2:22:33 AM)

Mine is simply a variation of my son's middle name. Hmm, I wonder if I would be a bad father to get him addicted to this game.  I don't want social services to intervene.

RUPD3658 -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/15/2009 3:57:22 AM)

Don't worry. I have raised my son as a Phillies fan and social services only visited the house and gave me a warning[:D]

 Mine is the unit crest and name of the greatest regiment in the US Army. Has served longer than any other on continuous active duty. On duty since 1834 till today.

My uncle served in the 16th regiment in WW2. He might differ. Mine is the result being a big fan of the C. S. Forester Hornblower series when I was a kid. Still have those books I bought..

stuman -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/15/2009 4:51:52 AM)

I liked the Hornblower series. Have you had a chance to read the Patrick O'Brian books ?

Hornblower -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/15/2009 5:01:25 AM)

i tried long time ago but couldn't get into them.  i might, now that you bring this up, take one out and give it another try when i hit the library ..

John 3rd -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/15/2009 5:40:55 AM)

John R. Cochran, III

Raver508 -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/15/2009 8:36:17 AM)

Lame as play on my surname "Raven" in my case.  Well that and someone had taken Raver, so I had to add a number.

terje439 -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/15/2009 5:42:18 PM)

Nothing exciting really, dates back to when I was gonna get a hotmail account (guess what it is [:D]). Used my first name and the lowest possible number (again guess how many with the same first name as me allready had a hotmail account by then [:D]).

The avatar is due to the fact that I only discovered matrixgames and these forums when it was announced that MWiF was going to be developed here (talk about luck, as I now own several games from matrixgames, and am more than pleased with most of them (one exception)). So, as some of the other guys on the MWiF forums started using some über WiF counters as avatars I thought "what the heck, I am not gonna use a Mannstein, Yamato, Iowa etc counter. I will use one that shows my nationality, and said nationality's fighting ability during WWII [;)]".

LargeSlowTarget -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/16/2009 3:35:45 AM)

My login name reflects what it looks like when I try to play first-person-shooters. I suck at FPS games and my game character usually stumbles slowly accross the map, neglecting cover and finding himself killed time and again by unseen enemies - I just present a large, slow target...

Q-Ball -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/16/2009 4:02:35 AM)

Well, my last name is Cue. Q-Ball was my fraternity nickname in college. I have since become follically challenged, so I guess it fits.

I wanted a different nickname, but I was a pledge so had no say. It beats "Flounder".

LST Express -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/16/2009 4:06:56 AM)

Just think the LST is a cool looking boat.

brisd -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/17/2009 4:53:10 AM)

Brian in San Diego, pretty simple and short.

ColFrost -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/18/2009 1:38:13 AM)

The coolest combat commander ever. It helped he was played by one of the coolest actor ever, Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Wickes, the batman (packing for the paradrop into Holland): "Sir, do you think you'll need your smoking jacket?"
Lt. Col John Frost: "Well, I should hope so."

bradfordkay -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (1/18/2009 3:34:34 AM)

I liked his friend who said that he carried an umbrella because of a bad memory - he couldn't remember the passwords but he figured that no "jerry" would ever be carrying a brolly...

Major Tatham-Warner actually carried the umbrella for that purpose. In the movie, he's called Major Carlyle, and he dies, but Tatham-Warner survived.

Of course, half the people on this board probably know this story.[:)]

One of the many touching scenes in that film.

AW1Steve -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (2/4/2009 10:12:00 PM)

[:D] OK , we've got newbie's people! Time for them to introduce themselves....what's the story behind your log-in name, your avatar , your sig-line and yourself? Welcome to the forum , don't be shy....we don't bite! Well , Terminus does , but not too bad! His bark is worse, well you know. So step up and introduce yourselves! Welcome! [:)]

Pistachio -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (2/4/2009 11:20:18 PM)

I'm salty and a tough nut to crack. Well really just a nut.[;)]

DE679 -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (2/5/2009 7:36:43 PM)

DE679 was my Dads ship in WW2. I run their reunions and web site for them. I had a FNG question for the forum and could not think of any other log in. Was going to join the Navy but get sea sick in the bathtub! Served in the Infantry instead, wound up on float puking my brains out anyway.
AW1Steve I am up in Falls Church, please put me on the VA list. I'll buy a round or two.

You are on it! Say , do you know where that top secret Navy base is in Falls Church? The one that they always showed on JAG? My wife has been trying to get orders there for ever (she's a Navy JAG). All the detailers say they don't know of such a base. So it must be top secret. You know that television never gets it wrong! [:D]

DE679 -> RE: So whats your log-in all about? (2/8/2009 4:17:52 AM)

AW1Steve, sorry I do not know where that is. I am new to Falls Church. Used to live in Springfield off Alban Rd. My home was right in line with the air field at Fort Belvoir. Had Copters flying low over the Home all day. Kids and I loved it. Like a mini air show every day! Wife hated it, I told her that's the sound of freedom. Moved out west and could not sleep, to quiet with out that whopp whopp.
