Hi All - I wanted to post some reseach for anyone that might find it useful...

Here is a list of the number of players that debut in each season 1871 - 1901 assuming you begin importing with 1871 and do not allow duplicate players. If you are playing in SandBox Mode this can be a useful list in importing the correct number of players to support your selected league team/roster size.

1872 - 69
1873 - 39
1874 - 32
1875 - 97

Here is a list of 67 players (this is a WIP) that played organized "high-amateur" baseball prior to the formation of the National Association in 1871. I have included as much detail as I was able to find about each player based on box score and written accounts. Some of these players also appear on NA rosters.

The 19th century leagues offer some interesting challenges. Jeremy, did you find ballparks to match the era?

Edit: some DO exist, but for GBG managing purposes are poor. You're simming all games, correct?

I sim all games but I do have some the info for park dimensions, names and the basics. If you play GBG it definitely loses a little something in that era. But the thing I like is the ability to pull in these players and sim to a point in history where I want to play GBG and have real names and faces in the almanac.
