So Alaskan Warrior are you trying to bring Cavour to the Pacific? :) If UK was defeated in Battle of Britain and contained by submarine operations and operation Felix successfully took Gibraltar maybe Italian and German Warships could went to Pacific... maybe US would fight them in Atlantic tough i doubt it. With a strech in credulity that might be an interesting what if.

Nah, it is just a great piece of art work. IMHO Italian ships would not have been very successful in the Pac, being too short ranged. [:D]

Dili -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (5/24/2008 10:58:54 PM)

Yeah, well mybe Euro Axis can cover Malasya/Celebes(not biggie there) while Japan fights evil capitalists! :D

Im having a horribly slow day at work -hurry up and wait - and Im spending it reading up the AE threads.

Now Im staring at the wall -and the one thought keeps coming through my mind.

OH MY LORD - Plotting the first turn!!!!!!!![X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(]

All this new stuff[&o][&o][&o][&o][&o]

bradfordkay -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (5/29/2008 10:17:39 AM)

You know, I think that I'm going to start out playing Termie's Aleutian scenario against the AI. It's a smaller scenario, and the a/c will be on the ground most of the time anyway, so it might be a nice, easy introduction to AE.

1275psi -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (5/30/2008 3:58:19 PM)

NO way -it'll be dive straight in!!!!

There isn't. Drink your sake and get in your biplane and attack the evil allies :)

Well, I've got a really enjoyable CHS PBEM to finish before starting another in AE, so I figure to ease my way into AE. Unless I win a lottery, I have only so much time each day to devote to this game.

I suppose that I could stop riding my bike for exercise, but if I were to do that I might not live long enough to finish an AE PBEM!

That's what I'm trying to make, at least. We won't have a tutorial scenario, as such, but TTMW is meant to be close to it.

mutterfudder -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (5/31/2008 4:03:57 AM)

Any way to make trasfer of more than one group of planes at a time from base to base possible?
It time consumming one group at a time.

hbrsvl -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/4/2008 10:47:54 PM)

jwilkerson-I'm looking for info on AE Allied production. I've tried a search-no results.

In panzerjaeger hortland's post of 12/7/07, 7:22 am, he asked if Allied production in AE will be like Japanese production.

Where would I find answer(s) to this?

BTW, it says you're from San Jose. We lived in the Almaden valley for 27 years before coming to Roseville.

Thanks in advance, Hugh Browne

Can you elaborate some on the new industry-model?

Will the allied player control production like his japanese counterpart?

Negatif, the model will remain the same (for better or worse!)

quote:

Is there a way to "keep" resources/oil/supply at a base, or will it shift around at the whim of the ai?

It will still shift around as it does now, but there will be a way to infuence the amount of supply at a base - via a new mechnism that allows the player to adjust the "supply required" setting of the base.

quote:

Can/will avgas be a separate supply entity like fuel is to ships?

Negatif, we discussed lots of different flavors of supply, but decided that was out of scope for this "upgrade".

quote:

Can/will air torpedos, capital ship ammo be a separate supply entity so that not every single tiny base with supply can be used to launch torpedo-havoc Nells, or resupply battleships?

Torpedoe ammo looks like it will make the cut, BB ammo no, but the rearming system has been substantially reworked.

quote:

Will there be some sort of overview in the game to see what factory is scheduled for what upgrade for the Japanese player?

Other than the editor, not that I'm aware of.

Barb -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/8/2008 9:37:15 PM)

It is possible to have Combat reports and operation reports with strong Fog of War, hits and kills falsely reported, even doubled or tripled?
(For Air kills it is possible to look into Aircraft looses in inteligence screen - there are accurate numbers).
For IRL example:
Mission Yamamoto:
Japanese forces:
6xA6M3 Zeke
2xG4M1 Betty
Allied Forces:
16x P-38 Lightning

After the action allied pilots claimed 3x Medium Bomber and 3x Zero Fighter, Japs claimed none.
Real loses were 2x Betty destroyed, 1x Zero damaged, 1x Lightning MIA

Toddr22_slith -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/11/2008 5:04:03 PM)

In the operations report in WITP reinforcments that have arrived and air upgrades are listed.  This is helpful for people who have variable reinforcment dates.  Will this reporting capability be the same in AE?

Japan -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/12/2008 12:25:49 PM)

GERMAN SUBMARINES --- What About Adding 5-7 German Submarines .... to reflact the German Submarine Activetyes in the Pacific?

[:D][:D]

Dili -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/12/2008 5:10:21 PM)

1-Will be there a way to make a message for players(both side or only one) at a certain date?

2-Leaders can be retired from the game like units?

3-Is there a way that Units retired from the Game still comsume supply points and get devices to recover to operational state to prevent that a player wastes them on propose, since will loose them anyway?

bradfordkay -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/12/2008 7:18:42 PM)

Dili, wouldn't that actually encourage the player to sacrifice the ship in a "do or die" attack? If the withdrawn ship continues to eat up devices while off the map, he might be better off having it sunk...

The present situation where the ship can't be withdrawn if over 50% system damage protects against your worries, but I have no idea as to what the AE rule is.

Dili -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/12/2008 9:56:47 PM)

Yes that is a good point too. I didnt knowed about that present rule. It seems okay for ships, problem will be whole units.

Toddr22_slith -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/12/2008 11:05:52 PM)

Will utilities like WITP import/export utility (aka witpload) be usable with AE?

bradfordkay -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/12/2008 11:32:21 PM)

My guess is that the AE team is working on the game and not the utilities. Those who created the utilities will have to adapt their product to AE, I suppose...

langley -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/13/2008 12:53:23 AM)

If AE supports river traffic which I seem to remember it will, can you conduct air attacks against such traffic?

AFAIK a new version of witpload will be available and included. A new version of witpDecoder too.

I would assume air attacks against river traffic would be the same as any other naval attack?

Naval movement along rivers is the same as other naval movement, so yes you can.

I do have one wish. And one wish only. In the old War in the Pacific from many years ago one could go from task force to task force with the N key. In this way, overlooked/forgotten task forces were found, orders amended/changed/given and life was good again on the high seas. If this can be done in WITP I havent figured out how. All I get is a listing of TF's instead of being able to actually go to the next one in numerical order. Thanks

I think this was added under one of the recent patches. IIRC, if you isolate submarines under the ship list, the "N" key will cycle you through all of the submarines at sea. I had forgot about this feature and therefore don't use it, but I believe it is in WITP. I'll try it and let you know.

Q-Ball -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/30/2008 5:22:04 PM)

Here is my one wish list:

I wish you could list all Japanese factories on ONE screen, regardless of location, and have a ON/OFF button for each of them.

Even better, a button for "Turn Off All Ki-43Ib production", etc.

Turning production on/off currently is a pain.

khyberbill -> RE: Admiral's Edition General Thread (6/30/2008 6:38:32 PM)

thanks charbroiled, i will check this out in my next turn. have tried other methods. when one gets to my age a task force goes missing now and then.

This feature was added to stock WITP in one of the 1.8 patches, using the ">" and "<" keys. Note that you could also use the un-shifted versions of "<" and ">" ("," and ".").

Select some subset of Task Forces using the Task Force screen (hot key "t'). Then you can cycle thru the TFs that match the criteria using "<"/"," and ">"/".". This feature is "sticky" so if you notice that the "<"/">" keys are not showing all your TFs, go back to the TF screen and adjust your settings.

The feature has been expanded slightly in AE. The shifted and unshifted variations of "<"/"," and ">"/"." now have slightly different meanings:
Shifted ("<" and ">") will display the next TF in the selection set WITH the Task Force screen being displayed.
Unshifted ("," and ".") will move to the next TF in the selection set WITHOUT the Task Force screen being displayed.
