Download uni templets from Fbmax.com and use a seperate program called paint shop pro 7,8 or 9 will work.

Hiya,

The quickest and easiest way to get started is to do what simmer said... go to http://www.fbmax.com/ and download this file; http://www.fbmax.com/utils/basicuniforms.zip It contains a bunch of pre-colored uniforms that you can modify using whatever paint program you prefer.

Then, you just save your modified files in the appropriate team folder (remember to rename them to the correct filename... u6 for helmets, etc.).

Once you get the hang of it, you can start getting fancier using layered templates and such. Have fun! :)

I made a uniform creation tutorial available at FBMax.com. Also download the uniform viewer.

You need a program that supports layers to effectively make uniforms. The layers allow you to make uniforms with texture otherwise they would look flat. Adobe Photoshop and Corel Paint Shop Pro have trial versions and can be purchased. Older versions will still work well. There are some free paint programs, GIMP, Irfanview and Paint.net. Don't try using Paint (included with Windows) you will not like the results.

One can use Paint, as it saves to a .bmp, but one would have to do textures (wrinkles and light shadows) over and over again for each uniform.

alright i'm like very new and never had any experience with this kind of creation i am the guy who likes to create people and teams and stuff like that but i need is some step by step of getting stuff like unis stadiums and faces from thornbirds website on the actual game i clicked buttons like remote in and out but it still doesn't help much i get some of the stuff you guys gave me and i appreciate but i just dont undersatnd it that much[:'(][:D][:'(][:D]

MSO94 -> RE: unis & stuff (1/23/2008 2:53:47 PM)

1st thing start with one prjoect.

Uniforms is the best to start with .

Did you down load the tuturial on uniform making.
second you WONT do any good things with out the correct program and PAINT is not it.
so you have to have the program suggested.

bopboppob -> RE: unis & stuff (1/24/2008 7:18:37 AM)

i used paint but im really good at it and it went well but i need to have u0 through u10

become a mdb but they change hellp![X(]

Saedor -> RE: unis & stuff (1/24/2008 10:54:59 AM)

Actually you can do pretty well without any fancy programs. I use MSpaint, Irfanview and Print Shop Photo Pro (which my wife bought at the dollar store for 6 bucks). I know the better programs will give you better and faster results, but for a beginner they aren't needed.

Here's proof. I'm doing the Mid-Continental Football League, a real US midwestern summer amateur league ( http://www.mcfl.org/ ). The first team I did was the Indiana Mustangs (I'm in Indiana :) ). Here's what they really look like;

At Home vs. the Flint Fury (Flint, MI);

And away vs. the Hardin County Wolverines (Radcliff KY);

And here's my version, made up in one night using the above named programs;

I know it's not perfect, and the colors need some tweaking... but it shows that you CAN do it without layers. :)

I agree.

As I stated above, one can use Paint or other programs without layers; it is just more time consuming to have to do textures for each uniform rather than having a texture layer that is saved.

Nice uniforms.

DONMVP -> RE: unis & stuff (1/24/2008 11:56:10 PM)

THOSE LOOK VERY GOOD

Marauders -> RE: unis & stuff (1/25/2008 12:44:23 AM)

The uniforms in the top two screens look especially good.

bopboppob -> RE: unis & stuff (1/25/2008 2:57:07 AM)

so what your saying is if i get pspro my images will be good for the game

Marauders -> RE: unis & stuff (1/25/2008 4:07:34 AM)

They look fine.

It is just easier to use layers if you are doing many uniforms.

Yes, once you learn how to use it. If you want to get a decent image editor that can work with layers, the GIMP is a free download (someone already linked to it above). You might try that first, before spending any money.

I highly recommend Irfanview too. It's also free and can do alot of neat things.

bopboppob -> RE: unis & stuff (1/26/2008 3:53:57 AM)

i got corel paint shop pro x an when i saved my images a whole bunch of types came up so i saved it to psp but it still didnt work what should i save it to.

Marauders -> RE: unis & stuff (1/26/2008 4:48:30 AM)

.BMP

bassman58 -> RE: unis & stuff (1/26/2008 8:32:14 PM)

Save you original files as PSP or PSPImage because these will have the layers intact. Then save a COPY as a BMP.

Yes, that is very good point!

Keep the uniforms that you are working on as a PSP, so you may use the layers for other uniforms.

Only the final product should be copied as a .BMP for use in the game.

bopboppob -> RE: unis & stuff (2/3/2008 2:52:00 AM)

i cannot do this man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't like drwa the unis, post them, then ask if someone could make em?

bopboppob -> RE: unis & stuff (2/3/2008 2:54:22 AM)

i have both psp and bmp but i tried copying the bmp to the home in the utilities and they don't work but they don't work
help!

bassman58 -> RE: unis & stuff (2/3/2008 8:09:37 PM)

bopboppob, I'm not sure what your problems are.
You can request that someone make uniforms. You need to provide the details.
The tutorial I wrote was based on Paint Shop Pro and it explains where the BMP files should be copied to. You should already have a league created. For example, if your uniforms are for the UCONN Huskies, then there should be at least a home and an away folder. There can be more alternate folders. Copy the BMPs to the appropriate folder.
ex) E:\Sports\Maximum-Football\Teams_MFBL\UCONN\home     (Teams_MFBL is the league folder in this example)
