langley -> Aircraft List (5/5/2008 12:02:19 PM)

I wonder if since we still have a wait ahead of us for the release of AE, could you please give us some more information as to which Aircraft will be in the game. A full list would be nice!

Many Thanks

MJT

Terminus -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 12:45:18 PM)

There's 500+ of them. So... no.

Dixie -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 2:25:57 PM)

From what I understand, if it was in the war in any numbers it will be in the game.  I have my little (honest) list of what I think should be in there, and I expect most will make it in [:)]

Terminus -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 6:20:40 PM)

Just went back and counted them. The database contains 550 distinct aircraft types. So, no... No complete list.

bradfordkay -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 7:09:41 PM)

So, what, you can't type out 550 aircraft names?

I realize that the NDA regulates this, and it is up to Matrix as to what information is released before publication - but to say that you can't release the list because it is too long seems counterintuitive...

witpqs -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 7:42:05 PM)

Typing them out is a little much, how about printing them out?

pad152 -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 8:10:27 PM)

Huh, never heard of copy & paste [&:]

Terminus -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 8:13:10 PM)

Well, would you prefer us taking time away from actually finishing the game so you can see the aircraft in the database?

Far as I know, the list doesn't even exist as a list, per se, but only in the database itself.

bradfordkay -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 9:03:08 PM)

Termie, no we wouldn't. My comment was only made because you seemed to say that it just couldn't be done, not that it would take too much time away from AE work.

Of course, it is entirely possible that listing 550 different aircraft names is impossible for a guy who seems to prefer one word responses! [:'(]

Terminus -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 9:13:38 PM)

Well, then I was misunderstood. My intent was to convey the "this will take too long" message, not the "this is impossible under the prevailing laws of nature" message.

And I could give you a two-word response, if you like...[:'(][;)][:D]

Terminus -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 9:15:57 PM)

Seriously, though, Dixie's understanding from his earlier post is basically correct: if an aircraft was present in some numbers in the Pacific and CBI theatres, you can be almost certain that you'll see it.

The air boys have also added a large number of aircraft to the DB that would have become operational in theatre if the war had dragged on.

John Lansford -> RE: Aircraft List (5/5/2008 9:50:53 PM)

So we might see P-80's and Gloster Meteors over Japan if the war drags on long enough??

As a guess, the most likely stuff (IMO) that might make it (could have maybe been ready IRL), mostly British as I'm not too sure on early post war US stuff.

Hawker Sea Fury
Supermarine Spiteful
Supermarine Seafang
Hawker Tempest
De Havilland Hornet
De Havilland Sea Hornet
Bristol Brigand
Blackburn Firebrand
Avro Lincoln

Most of these saw fairly extensive use in the region in the post war RAF

I'm not sure if the RAF would have deployed jets to the Far East, but if they were going to it could have been:
Gloster Meteor F.III
De Havilland Vampire

If I really wanted to push my luck..
Avro Vulcan [:D]
EE Lightning [:D]

Let's see the JFBs counter those with their Shindens [:D]

Cathartes -> RE: Aircraft List (5/6/2008 2:51:04 AM)

It would take a minute to paste a definitive list from the database, but that's up to higher powers.

terminus, you can allways paste list in spare time or at launch-break [:D][:D][:D][:D]

langley -> RE: Aircraft List (5/7/2008 12:40:12 AM)

I would think that a screen capture of the aircraft database would do the job. However if the game is coming along well then maybe I can wait a bit longer until the release!

Terminus -> RE: Aircraft List (5/8/2008 1:40:34 AM)

Well, he DID say "launch-break", but I'm not sure I have one of those...[:D]

The aircraft database is very comprehensive, to say the least.

Oh yeah, Bob... There was talk of including the B-19 in AE, but it failed the ugliness test...[:'(]
