Here's the reinforcements I get this turn:

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T23 (5/24/2008 11:04:46 AM)

Here's the zoomed-out view. It shows me ( the red dots ) running
around creating maheim, converting hexes, making trouble, mostly in the
south of the country:

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T23 (5/24/2008 11:05:13 AM)

The VC 67th Inf Reg overran a couple of airbases near Bien Hoa and
has dug in forcing the ARVN units nearby to try to dig him out next turn:

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T23 (5/24/2008 11:05:50 AM)

The other moves I did were the multiple smaller units converting hexes and
trying to stay away from Allied forces. Here's the results of my attack:

attack results 62_110

And the turn ended here.

Allied Turn 23, Nov 1966 -

The victory level dropped 7 points from last turn.  This was expected considering all the enemy units I left on board last turn.  But the monsoons are over and the ARVN woke up from it's sleep, so I should be able to get most of it cleaned up this turn.  I left a couple hotbeds of activity just because I don't have the forces to attack everything at once.

Larry's strategy is effective.  Most Allied players would be calling in another division right about now.  As the designer I have the advantage of intricate knowledge of the NLF's capabilities vs. my own and believe I can restore order with what I have on hand.  If I did request more reinforcements the proper response for Larry would be to disband everything once they arrived.  As it stands Larry has no clear choice as to whether to continue his offensive or pack it up.

the south part of the country:

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T24 (5/25/2008 6:23:19 AM)

I used the NVA 271st B Reg to chase some airborne engineers across the border
into Cambodia thus incuring a border violation:

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T24 (5/25/2008 6:23:43 AM)

I used the NVA 48th Reg to overrun Ho Duc and kept pushing the ARVN regional
forces unit to the southwest:

Allied Turn 24, Dec 1966 -

NLF forces are really holding their own, and I've started to see some U.S. units evaporate in unfavorable battles.  I might have to reverse myself and call in more troops, but there is one more thing I'll try first.

I had previously declared a strategic bombing campaign because I was planning on hitting the HCM trail with heavy raids, and I needed the LRRP spotters to locate the targets.  I will instead divert those bombers to Interdiction and Combat Support.  Just to make sure the effect is felt I've declared Free Fire for the next turn.  If Larry wants to continue with these shenanigans he'll have to pay.

As for the results for this turn I left a lot of units on board.  I need to cut back on the risky attacks and be satisfied with containing a unit instead of always having to eliminate it.

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T25 (5/26/2008 8:45:27 AM)

I'm looking at this chart after I've moved everything I'm going to move and so all
the Allied interdiction that's going to take place has already and this is the number
roughly speaking, of the Allied planes shot down this turn so far. It's less than 28
of course but maybe 14 or so might not be far off:

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T25 (5/26/2008 8:45:50 AM)

I decided to attack the airplanes at Tuy Hoa with my rocket unit:

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T25 (5/26/2008 8:46:20 AM)

Here's the results of the attack:

attack results 120_83

[image]local://upfiles/16287/1371283D0B054E35A36D516E8383F413.gif[/image]

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T25 (5/26/2008 8:46:59 AM)

That attack took 20% of the turn, so now I'm going to use the surviving rocket
unit to attack that airbase at Tuy Hoa and try to get some helicopters:

attack results 120_83 2

[image]local://upfiles/16287/0F87245B86974E18BE176337FF39D86D.gif[/image]

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T25 (5/26/2008 8:47:30 AM)

Now 30% of the turn is used. There are still 2 Transportation helicopter units there
at Tuy Hoa and I'm going to attack again to try to get some of them:

attack results 120_83 3

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T25 (5/26/2008 8:47:57 AM)

Now 40% of the turn is used. Here's a look at the air-to-air situation as it stands right now:

[image]local://upfiles/16287/F249641EC4044FDDBA130F2402A15FD5.gif[/image]

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T25 (5/26/2008 8:48:25 AM)

I'm going to attack once again:

attack results 120_83 4

[image]local://upfiles/16287/318E203D247E402F88FFB8DC8BC5E95A.gif[/image]

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T25 (5/26/2008 8:49:47 AM)

Now 50% of the turn is used. I don't dare move the rocket unit 'cause Allied interdiction
will probably kill it. I learned early in this turn not to move any units. Now I'm going
to attack again. Before my attack could be carried out Allied interdiction killed it. And
the turn ended here.

I learned early in the turn not to move any of my units because 99% of them were bombed and evaporated
as a result.  I imagine that Curt will have a lot of planes on reorg during his turn because of all the
interdiction that took place.

Raindem -> RE: CSV T25 (5/27/2008 2:17:17 AM)

Allied Turn 25, Jan 1967 -

Not sure if my plan worked.  Air losses have increased (11 B-52s lost this month alone. I had only previously lost 13 for the whole war up until now).   Enemy activity has decreased slightly.  I'm eliminating the smaller pockets but having trouble with the larger ones.  Especially the 2 NVA divisions that Larry managed to sneak down the trail and send into Chau Doc.

So air losses are up and ground casualties are up.  The victory level is still hovering at around +12.

larryfulkerson -> RE: CSV T26 (5/27/2008 3:45:53 AM)

I seem to be getting far fewer reinforcements than I usually do this turn:

I succeeded in overrunning a few of the airbases to the south of Saigon during the night:
